The Page of Kuma running and growing up showing how much he’s fought, survived, and grown was beautiful. Then the follow up of how heartbreaking it is to see Bonney sobbing. Kuma one of the best characters. Seeing him too see Luffy hit the Celestial Dragons and realizing he is NIKA in that moment was awesome. What a chapter, what a character, hats off and salute for Kuma lads! 🫡

What’s neat is that as much as people have complained about Nika making Luffy a “chosen one,” even with Kuma knowing the legend of Nika, it’s not Luffy’s fruit that brought his attention and support, but rather Luffy’s actions.

Zoans choose their users, so even if someone says it all because of Luffy DF but Luffy has that DF because Nika thought he was worthy

yeah, the fruit didn't make luffy the "chosen one." even if he was a completely normal dude with no fruit powers he would have done the exact same thing. not like he used his DF to punch Charlos's teeth in - he decked him the same way a completely normal human would have.

Luffy without DF powers would just be Garp honestly. Dude will still be a beast.

I agree. Unfortunately that crowd does have an argument they are clinging too, which is that Zoans have a will of their own, and some have suggested that Luffy's will is actually his fruit's/Nika's - I don't buy into that theory, but I can see why people would think that.

Exactly. Sengoku ate the Buddha fruit, but is he a buddha? No. Does he act like a buddha? No.

There's like a ton of different buddhas with varying personalities and roles. And he didn't eat "the Buddha" fruit, he ate the Daibutsu fruit. His zoan is more vague than some specific buddha, the word just references the giant statues of various buddha.

Only Nika could have awakened that fruit. Anyone else would have just lived as a rubber man.

Huh? By Nika do you mean Luffy or Joyboy?

I think both.

What does this even mean?

It means only someone capable of being Joyboy can achieve Gear Five. Anyone else would be stuck with Gears Two, Three and Four.
