Pee/Poop What's your parenting fail of the day?

This morning, I opened up my son's diaper (6mo), let him air out for a minute, then just sort placed the front of the diaper back over him without strapping it. Usually I put on a clean diaper after airing him out, but my order was thrown because I was arguing with the almost empty bottle of lotion. Finally got out the lotion and started rubbing it all over his chest, arms, etc. I noticed it was really watery, way more than normal but I figured it was because it was the dregs of the bottle. It wasn't until I rolled him on his side to lotion his back that I saw his pajamas were all wet. He peed on himself in that 8 second window I was working with the lotion and I didn't notice.

So I rubbed pee all over my baby's body šŸ˜…

Pee/Poop Advice on cleaning clothes after blow outs

Sorry this is gross. Lately it seems like every BM is a blow out that gets all over onesie and outer clothes. Iā€™ve been trying to rinse it off and then soak it in oxy clean, but sometimes there is just so much it is hard to rinse off. What are people doing? It seems a little gross to put it directly in the washing machine without rinsing it first, but also really gross and time consuming to try to get it off in the sink. Weā€™re not to eating solids yet, but I imagine it will just get worse then. Any advice is appreciated.

Edit: to clarify, I am not really having issues getting the stains out (oxyclean seems to work). Iā€™m struggling with the process of removing the poo initially. Are you using your hands? a toothbrush? Are you rinsing in a sink? a toilet? directly in the washing machine? It just seems so unsanitary to be rinsing in the sink or directly in the wash machine. The toilet also seems gross. It is a really time consuming ordeal every time because I have to rinse it off, soak the clothes, wash the clothes, clean the sink, etc. Iā€™m a first time mom, so my apologies for being a little naive. Maybe this just is the way it is.

Pee/Poop Is it normal for 4 mo to have blowout every day?

My four month old has just been pooping once a day lately and itā€™s almost always a blowout that escapes her diaper up her back. Iā€™m wondering if this is considered normal or if itā€™s a sign she has a dietary sensitivity. She is exclusively breast fed.

Pee/Poop Caring for baby boy as FTM

FTM @ 34 weeks pregnant. Iā€™m sure that this is an irrational fear & everything will be fine, but Iā€™m expecting a baby boy and I have this fear that I will be weirded out by his genitals when heā€™s born. Truth is that Iā€™ve never really dealt with baby boys when it comes to changing diapers, etc. Iā€™m pretty sure my partner wanted a son because he was scared about changing a girl and dealing with something completely foreign to him and I guess I am having similar fears. Is this a thing?

Pee/Poop Diaper rash HELP!

TMI WARNING - My girl has had some poopy issues the past two weeks and it feels like every diaper I change has liquid poop in it in various quantities. Her lil booty is SO sad. It is so red and she screams whenever I have to clean it. We usually use the Aquaphor 3 in 1, have been using the Aquaphor fast relief and this morning I bought the Triple Paste ointment after reading some reviews. I also got her an oatmeal bath kit. Does anyone have any advice? Watching my girl scream in pain is heartbreaking. Her 12 month appointment is Tuesday and Iā€™m going to talk to her pediatrician then about it, because theyā€™re closed tomorrow anyway.

I also just feel like Iā€™ve been gaslighted her whole life about her poop. I swear every time we go to the doctor Iā€™m asking about it. Previously she was having a hard time because she was constipated (ā€œjust give her Miralaxā€) and not this as well. It feels like Iā€™m never taken seriously and thatā€™s pissing me off too.

Pee/Poop Baby has the worst gas pains

My son is 15 weeks (calendar)/ 9 weeks (adjusted - 6 weeks early) and we are dealing with some major gas issues. He gets the worst gas and it is SO hard for him to pass. It has gotten better during the day and he now sleeps his first stretch of 5-6 hours at night pretty peacefully, but come 4-4:30 AM he is thrashing and crying with the worst gas pains.

We have, and still are, consulting with his pediatrician, working with PT for several other things, and have done infant Craniosacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation Therapy. We do bicycle legs, all sorts of other movements, positions, he gets gas drops, heā€™s on plain breast milk supplemented with Similac Alimentum. Iā€™ve cut various foods for weeks at a time. Weā€™ve done warm compresses, baths, everything you can quickly Google and logically makes sense to do, weā€™ve tried. Eventually, some combination of the above gets the gas moving out but it can take an hour or hour and a half.

Does anyone have any recommendations or remedies that are maybe lesser known? Weā€™ll try anything to help our little guy be more comfortable!

Pee/Poop Diaper rash hell

Baby got her first rash at 5 months. Iā€™m assuming itā€™s from her sleeping longer at night with no change. Needless to say I learned my lesson. Baby girl has an awful rash that wonā€™t go away. I have a doctors appointment but itā€™s on the 23rd and I need it better now.

Please any tips!

Iā€™ve done oatmeal baths with baking soda once a day. No more water wipes. Just water then pat dry. Air out and go diaper less for as long as I can. Iā€™ve tried cera ve rash cream, Burtā€™s bees. Iā€™m now trying Vaseline and penaten. Nothing seems to work and she seems to be in pain. No blisters yet but I dread sheā€™s getting close to them. Very red and dry. Also no soap.

What creams or hacks worked for you??? Maybe im not using rash cream properly??? Iā€™m going crazy trying to help her. I canā€™t stand seeing her suffer and feel so awful.

Pee/Poop My baby did a poonami all over Santa today. Please tell me the worst places your baby did this so I don't feel alone!

My 8 week old baby had his first photo with Santa today. We dressed him up in the cutest elf outfit and were really excited to get an adorable photo.

The staff were doting over him and he didn't cry and was quite happy being on Santa's knee.

We had a wonderful experience until Santa passed him back...I saw it...oozing all down my son's leg. I looked over at Santa and noticed it was on him too! I was mortified!

The staff were so lovely, but apparently it hasn't happened to this Santa before. Surely I can't be the only one! I feel so bad. I helped them clean up and I brought them chocolates to say sorry.

I really can't be the only one... right???

Pee/Poop The grunting

For the love of everything holy! Right on schedule every morning from about 5:30am to about 8:00am my baby wakes me up to the sound of him grunting like a psycho. He will poop, settle down for a moment, then get right back to it. Between him and my husbandā€™s outrageously loud snoring, I can never go back to sleep.

I read this is normal for newborns, but my little one is almost 3 months old (or 1.5 months adjusted). I just got him home from the NICU so I canā€™t confirm if this is a normal occurrence but i will literally try everything. Lying on my tummy, bicycling, tummy massages. Sometimes this works. Sometimes he just goes right back to it as soon as I put him down.

I should say he doesnā€™t poop at night (he pees a lot though). So Iā€™m assuming there would be some extra work to poop in the morning but 2 hours endless of grunting??

Iā€™m going insane. Send help šŸ„² what do I do?

Pee/Poop Does anyone use vaseline for baby as their diaper cream?

I use aquaphor and unfortunately I'm out of it and don't have access to any anytime soon. I only have Vaseline for baby. Does anyone use it as a diaper cream?

Pee/Poop To change or not to change?

I can't be the only one who runs into this dilemma right? Let's say it's 8pm and you change and feed your baby, suddenly she falls asleep!! In her own bed! (She's 3months) and you don't go to bed till 10pm, do you risk waking her and changing her during her next feeding (when you go to bed) or do you just ride out that diaper till morning?

She always has at least a "prevent" diaper cream on, I just feel bad sometimes to let her "stew" in her diaper at night but I've been so sleep deprived if she's sleeping I ain't messing it up. If it's a poop I do change it, but pee, sometimes we just gotta get some sleep and wait till morning.

Am I the only one? How do you go about this?

Pee/Poop How many diapers in the beginning?

FTM here with a 2 week old. Everything online says newborns go through 10-12 diapers the first few months, but I feel like it's much more. How about all those diapers that they pee and poop in WHILE you're changing them? I feel like we're at 14-15, but we do cloth diapers and EC so both more and less than your average person.

How many diapers did you go through per stage of your LO's development?

Pee/Poop All diapers lead to blowouts... except back flap ones! Which ones have this feature?

No matter if we size up or down or try a new diaper brand, my baby will have blowouts up the back. I don't know if he just has rocket-powered poops or what, but it's such a hassle to deal with. Millie Moon is the worst offender, but it's happened with some Pampers and Huggies too. In multiple sizes :(

But then we tried a Pampers overnight during the day (not for a long stretch, but just to see if it helped), and the poo stayed in!! I think because of the back flap that stops poo from shooting out.

Do other brands have this folded over piece at the back? Or is it ok to just wear overnight diapers during the day, changing them frequently though?

Pee/Poop Jelly like balls in diaper

My seven month old started having these jelly like things in his diaper. I searched it up and it said some diapers release that when babies get it overfilled with pee. But idk. I stopped changing his overnight diaper and itā€™s never happened before until 5-6 days ago. Been using the same diaper brand same wipes brand but this just started. Has this happened to anyone else?

Pee/Poop Newborn diaper changing frequency: How much is too much?

I've generally read that with modern diapers, they're reasonably good at holding pee in such that you don't need to do an immediate change, but with poop, try to change it as soon as you can.

With that said we're dealing with a 1 week old and when waking her for feedings, we've been doing a diaper change because it also helps with her breastfeeding engagement--we want to make sure she's ideally set to latch and to actually suck. Currently she sometimes doesnt' want to suck or falls asleep on the breast, and so we want to give her every reason to work for her food. She's clearly very hungry and will devour 3 oz of bottle but we want her to breastfeed as much as she can.

Right now my partner does ~30 min on breastfeeding before we supplement with bottle. But during the bottle, like clockwork, she will let out a poopy fart. Today it happened twice. I'm glad I didn't stop mid way and change her diaper. That would be 3 changes within an hour. I took some breaks during the bottle but also sat her up for 15 minutes afterward to digest and to minimize spit up/hiccups. After that I took her to change her diaper. The plan was to change her diaper, do a little play time/tummy time before putting her down for her next nap.

At this point my nanny was back from her break and offered to change, but she scolded me for waiting too long to change her diaper. So my question is how often is appropriate? At the rate I'm going it's 2 diaper changes every awake session and at 8 feedings that's 16 diapers / day. Seems almost double of what online guides say.

I obviously don't want my child sitting in poopy diapers for hours, but at the same time I've done at least 3 changes now where a few minutes later there's another poop that comes out. What's a good guidance that others are using here?

Pee/Poop my newborn is pooping a lot

i will of course consult a doctor (we have an appointment on monday) but i canā€™t call right now as the office isnā€™t open so iā€™m just wondering if this is normalā€¦ my newborn (2 weeks old) just pooped like 3/4 times consecutively. typically she poops right after feeding, usually 2 times in a row but it just seems excessive. the poop is normal in consistency and color. iā€™m an anxious mom and i feel so scared!

Pee/Poop How often do you change your baby's diaper?

So, I've been wondering how often I'm supposed to change baby's diaper. He's almost 6 months now and I do it first thing when we get up, before each of his naps (3 or 4 naps a day) plus right before bed. He goes all night with one diaper.

Overnight I do a hefty spattering of diaper cream on his skin, a sized up overnight diaper with another sized up regular diaper on top, backwards. He started leaking overnight because he learned how to roll onto his tummy and smooshes the pee out of the diaper with his weight. Which is what started the double diapering routine.

Do people change their babies overnight still at 6 months? We stopped around 2 months once we got to size 2 diapers.

Am I changing his diaper enough during the day? He's going 2-3 hours between changes roughly.

To clarify, poop gets changed immediately, even at night if it happens. I'm talking about pee diapers specifically!

Pee/Poop Baby Hasnā€™t Pooped in Two Days?

My baby is almost 10 weeks old. Heā€™s exclusively breastfed so I know that itā€™s normal for him to potentially go up to even a week without pooping. However, he has pooped literally everyday since Iā€™ve had him. Never missed a day of pooping, lol. Thatā€™s really the only reason I am worried, since itā€™s a sudden change in routine for him. He did have his 2 month shots on Monday & we gave him 1.25ml of baby Tylenol after the shots and the following two days as well for slight fever/fussiness due to pain (per pediatricians suggestion) so Iā€™m wondering if the Tylenol would maybe be contributing to the lack of poop? He seems completely normal otherwise besides some increased fussiness/tiredness which I am attributing to the shots.

EDIT : I did talk with the ped and she was the one who reminded me that itā€™s normal for breastfed babies generally. I just wanted to hear from other new parents to ease my mind a little more because PPA can get out of control sometimes :)

EDIT #2 : Well itā€™s only been a couple hours since Iā€™ve posted this and my baby just pooped ALLLLL OVER his dad. šŸ˜‚ Thank you everyone for your comments, they truly helped ease my mind.

Pee/Poop Thanks big poops

Imagine.

Baby wakes in the middle of the night for a feed. You get the bottle ready and your comfy feeding spot set up. Youā€™re exhausted. Baby is fussy and chomping on that paci so you know itā€™s time. You diaper change and take baby to the feeding spot. Baby latches on the bottle and feeds at a good pace. You start to see babyā€™s eyes get heavy. Is it possible? Will baby go back to sleep easily? Will I get to go back to sleep quickly? Baby finishes the bottle and you burp them. You get quick great burps. Babyā€™s eyes are closed over your shoulder. This is great! Baby is going back to sleep!!

Then you hear it. The fart.

Babyā€™s eyes pop open and youā€™re met with the all too familiar poop grunts. Itā€™s poop time. You know by the smell - itā€™s a big one.

Baby decided to drop bombs like its world war 3 out here. You now have to change their diaper again. After spending what feels like forever cleaning up that catastrophe, baby is wide awake. There is no sleeping in sight. Baby feels lighter and energized, ready to party it up.

Thanks big poopsā€¦.

Just a story time from my 3AM experience šŸ™ƒ

Pee/Poop Baby hasn't pooped in 5 days

Any advice on how to get baby to poop. Doctor thinks that I should wait to get him seen for few more days seeing he is not uncomfortable. He isn't showing signs of constipation and was checked over yesterday when he had his vaccines. I would like to wait it out but we are leaving the province on holidays tomorrow for 8 days l.

Pee/Poop Double Diapering?

My LO is almost 4 months and sleeping 7-10 hour stretches which is fantastic with the only drawback being that almost every morning we wake, heā€™s filled up and peed through his diaper, soaking his sleeper and his sleep sack. Weā€™ve sized up and tried overnight diapers. The overnight diapers seem to help a little bit, but thereā€™s still a bit of pee going through. I read somewhere that someone mentioned double diapering, but I feel like that would be so uncomfortable for LO.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips?

Pee/Poop How often do you change diapers at night?

LO is still waking up every 3 hours or so at night. He wears a sleep sack and jammies so it is a bit of a hassle to get to the diaper. No poops, mostly pee. I try to change him every other time at night but Iā€™m wondering if I should change him each time he wakes cause he does have a wet diaper. But I also donā€™t want to wake him up more than I have to during the night.

Edit: forgot to include that heā€™s 3.5 months old and EBF. He doesnā€™t usually have trouble getting back to sleep after being changed and nursing but I hate keeping him up longer than necessary.

Pee/Poop How can I make diaper changes a less traumatic experience?

My LO (3 weeks) thinks that diaper changes are the worst torture imaginable. At least, Iā€™m pretty sure he does based off of all the screaming. Heā€™s had some diaper rash thatā€™s finally starting to clear up, no thanks to Sir Poops-A-Lot, but I feel like this goes beyond diaper discomfort.

Does anyone elseā€™s gremlin scream bloody murder during diaper time? Is there anything I can do to make the experience not so horrifying for him?
