Finance LPT: Keep used wrapping paper, but not why you think...

When finished with opening all gifts, take the largest box and put all the shreds of wrapping, bags, envelopes in the box.

Close the box, store in garage for at least a week.

Insurance policy for accidentally discarding gift cards and cash. Find something missing? Check the box in the garage.

And then when everything is all clear, tape up the box and put it on the porch as porch pirate bait

Or just be diligent and check if there isn't anything to keep before putting the wrapping in the trash, which you are already supposed to do if you live in a place that enforce recycling. Not everyone lives in a place with enough spare room to purposefully keep trash around.

"Insurance policy" and "accidentally" are two key components of the LPT...feel like it's important to call that out. I also feel like we're probably not talking about a Volkswagen-sized box of trash. C'mon. I appreciate the LPT and wish I'd seen it before the cat stole-then-dropped my $50 Home Depot GC in the recycle bin this morning.
