I would like to have them out and about instead of like a box in the attic. TIA!

This is part of my entry, which continues onto the next pages. I've always wanted to experiment with the structure of a research journal while keeping it highly subjective. There's something amusing about using this style to write about personal topics, like my color preferences or the types of candles I enjoy buying.
What about you? Have you had any experiences with scientific journaling?

Hi!
I saw this cute idea somewhere else, where someone wrote all the comments on post it notes and stuck on their wall, and did a little doodle where possible. If anyone would like, please comment! I will write the word or sentence in journal and maybe try a drawing if it lends itself to that, or is a meme or something. I will post results.
Some original / unique / interesting / funny comments would be cool. Anything is good though! But no NSFW please.
Thanks! :)
Edit: thanks so much for all the comments! I’m working on getting through them now. Such lovely words. I really appreciate you sharing. If anyone has pictures, memes, funny sayings, things I should draw, stupid or silly phrases / words, that would be great to create breaks in the poetic text / sayings.

TLDR; Get Noodlers Blue Ghost, a pen that's not a demonstrator and a UV/Black light such as the one in the 2nd pic. I recommend the Jinhao 9019, cheap and write well.
I see many posts about someone discovering and reading someone else's private journal;
I'm making this post for all my brothers and sisters out there that are afraid to write, journal, whatever because of the fear of someone reading, black mailing your writing. Simply purchase Noodlers Blue ghost or an equivalent UV ink, a UV lamp or light, one im 2nd pic is portable and an empty journal. Simple.
Personal Aside: Something I struggle with is if I would be uncomfortable with my girl reading my private journal. I saw a post that made me question my initial thoughts- being that my partner should know me inside out, including my sick twisted thoughts lmao. Even though I still hold that position, I think it takes time to get there with someone, its still extremely personal but that's my idea of love, 2 souls, 1 spirit. I'm trying to think of scenarios where I wouldn't want my partner to read my Journaling...
Anyways, Best Of Luck!
Disclaimer* I got this photo off Google because I'm lazy

I’m reading the diary of a young girl, Anne frank and she named her diary “Kitty” so she has a friend to talk to.
I never considered talking to my journal as if it is a person, but recently I’ve started prayer journaling. I’ve gotten out so much more because I am talking to God. Like usually the words are hard to come by, but when it’s in a prayer, it flows.

I’ve been journaling consistently for almost a year now and it’s SUCH a chore. I really want to enjoy it because I love looking back at my life and keeping records of my time, and I do genuinely feel better after I journal, but it’s so hard for me to do. It’s just boring! I could bring out stickers and drawings but that’s too much for me to clean up and journaling for me is more about meditation and introspection than art/play. So how can I start to enjoy journaling? What do you guys do to make it more enjoyable?

I made this a few years ago to put at the beginning of a journal. I have experienced other people reading my journals, and it was awful. Writing this helped me free myself of that fear and start writing for myself again.

I have been a loyal pilot G2 pen user for about 5 years and I never thought I'd switch. Until I tried the Zebra Sarasa Dry gel pen. As a lefty it's my dream pen and I genuinely haven't used a different pen in a week. Only thing I miss is the softer grip on the pilot. But are Zebras as easy to get cartridges as pilots? Whats everyone's favorite pen to use for journaling especially gel pens?

Batch journaling has been a game-changer for me. While daily journaling is often idealized, it’s not always realistic in the hustle of everyday life. Instead of forcing myself to write every single day, I use a simple yet effective method: jotting down a quick recap of my day on a sticky note using just a few keywords. These notes serve as memory joggers, and after 3-4 days, I sit down to reflect and write everything out more thoughtfully.
One major advantage of this approach is the clarity it provides. Revisiting the events after a few days helps me filter out unnecessary details that might feel overwhelming or irrelevant in the moment. Writing immediately often leads to overloading my entries with insignificant information, but this method lets me focus on what truly matters.
Sticky notes also allow me to be as messy and spontaneous as I need to be, without the pressure of perfection. Additionally, batch journaling creates flexibility—I don’t feel guilty for skipping a day because I know I’ll revisit and organize my thoughts later. It’s a balance between structure and freedom, and it’s helped me make journaling a sustainable habit.

What’s your favourite brand of journal? i’m on the hunt for a new one after 13 years of writing in the same one!
preferably brands that don’t experience ghosting or bleeding because i write heavily with lots of pens

This is my first time adding stickers to my journal and I’m not quite sure if I should add the stickers first or after I write anything..I’ve seen people do both ways but I’m not sure which one is easier

this is my first paperage journal and i only had 4 pages left when the cover cracked. my journal isn’t that thick either :( would a leuchttrum do this? i’ve seen people with journals wayyyy thicker than this and the spine is completely fine. i got this bc it was cheap, but maybe leuchttrum is worth price?

So I got a new journal about a month or so ago, and as much as I love the design of it, the paper is very thin and sort of flimsy. I like drawing in my journals sometimes, so the pen/marker usually ends up bleeding through. My problem is that I can't afford any of the journals with thick, high-quality paper, so does anyone know a good brand I can look into (with journals around 20 bucks)? Thanks :)

I don’t know if I’m going to get flagged for this or not, but I genuinely just want to know this from actual journalists… what kind of pen do you use ? I always found cheap pens to be the best… let me post my journal writing to show you what type of writing I like lol.

Looking to see how people deal with false starts… I start a journal with intention, maybe daily thoughts, then I decide I want it to track my knee recovery, then I want to monitor my food intake, then I doodle, then I use it to track finances. Then I scrap it all and buy journals for each of those subjects, get overwhelmed, and say F it, and then have stacks of started journals that I can’t bear to reopen and feel regret, silly, and want to trash them all, but some have valuable information I want to keep. Help me.

Trying to get into journaling but the biggest issue is within 5 minutes my hand starts cramping. I can never write as much as I want and as long as I want. Any recommendations? Is it the pen? The way I hold the pen? Thanks in advance!

I hear from others that journalling is therapeutic, and it helps memory over time. I am continually told that I would be able to organize my feelings better if I started to put pen to paper.
When I was younger I loved to write short stories, draw, colour, paint, etc. I used to be able to express myself very well, and had a lot of creativity to nurture. I remember that feeling, but I've lost that creative spark and it's frustrating to try and pick up pen and draw, or write, or anything. I freeze at a blank page and I've just plain lost the skills that I treasured so much at one time.
Lastly, as the title says, I am Boring. I look at my day, my life, my experiences and think 'Why do I even want to remember this?' Nothing ever happens and I'm fairly certain I don't have a single original thought floating between my ears. I also don't know how to have a conversation with myself anymore like I did when I kept a diary as a young child.
Aside from external recommendations, I think journalling might be a starting point to helping nurture the creativity that I've lost.
How do I even start this? I've tried bringing note/sketchbooks with me everywhere, but they don't get used, and eventually migrate out of my purse and onto a messy table, a junk drawer, or just forgotten in a pile of stationary that just sits and takes space.
I'm a little lost andnd I haven't found any markers to help me out of the forest, so to speak. Any advice?

I have so many things that I want to put everything in my journal. I wanted to do the present and future things rather than keep it in my mind. But I heard nothing I mentioned in the title, even a journal, but something else. Should I do whatever and not overreact? What do you guys think?
r/Journaling • u/Solize111 • Jul 10 '24
I just started doing this and I actually really liked it, I made a little squiggly heart and colored it in ( this was really soothing to me to just mindlessly color in all the bubbles ) then each bubble (not each because I ran out of space) I filled in with how my dream self is.

I used to write in my journal with any pen I would have near but now I realize they fade over time, and now my old journals look like they’ve been through a war zone. Smudges everywhere! So, finding a pen that doesn’t turn my notes into a smudge-fest and is water-resistant is a top priority for me —better safe than sorry!
Now, I’m curious: do you use colored pens, highlighters, or decorate your journals? And most importantly, do you pick your pens with care to ensure your precious notes stay perfectly over the time? Which brands of pens do you use? I love gel ones, 0.7 my fav. I would love to know your recommendations ✨🤩

Hey so after dabbling in journaling for awhile I think I've figured out what I want.
Basically one journal that I can mix and match pages in so I can write or sketch (generally water colour) whenever I feel like it without having to go to separate books. I also want to have separate sections for my psychologist's homework and song writing, but within the same journal. I know if I have full separate notebooks for everything I will get overwhelmed. Preferably not huge, so I can take it traveling and hiking.
Please does anyone know how I can make this happen or have any suggestions/links?
Thankyou so much, and Merry Christmas from Australia 🦘 🎄
