I hate how much the Israeli government and media is taking credit for (and advantage of) the Syrian people's win

I'm always desperate by westerners naïvety, because it's a good part of what fuel violence (or what allows it to happen). Man, it has nothing to do with a fight against evil, it's just a barbaric system replaced by another.

Update 2 days later: Now the US and Israel are jockeying to each claim more credit (like who can be the bigger parasite) and Iran is playing into it by blaming them too, because of course that's what the US, Israel and Iran are doing 🤦🏻‍♀️

All the while the US has had a $10 million bounty on Jolani's head.

I'd caution anyone implying that the fall of Assad was anything except good for the vast majority of Syrians. (I'm not saying that's what the article is doing, but I've been seeing that take a lot.) They are celebrating and we should too, even if Israel takes a win here. Whatever comes next will be terrible for Syrians, but they are being reunited with families and able to live freely for the first time in years, even if this is short-lived. We take wins when we can, even if they're small and in tiny stints.

I don't know how people can see the videos of babies being liberated from the Assad regime's dungeons and say "well askhstushally" to Syrians about how they should feel in this moment.
