Lets not forget Lamborghini pulled out of WEC because of the mandate for manufacturers to run two cars in both hypercar and GT3, something they didnt want to do given the development still needed. IMSA doesn't require such B.S and therefore it's the chosen playground
Also, everyone keeps pissing all over the fact they're committing to "only" the endurance races; there's 5 of them, with time inbetween for upgrades/development/test sessions. There's no glory in running sprint races and running up parts/mileage when the car needs more love

Nothing's says commitment to a platform and program like dropping out of one of the two series you were in while only committing to a portion of the other series races.
I said it when Lambo dropped from the WEC, but I don't see this program lasting past 2025. Lamborghini has zero interest in actually developing the car and outside of a rain soaked Indy race the SC63 was completely irrelevant in both WEC and IMSA last season. There's no future where the car becomes competitive with the lack of effort Lamborghini is putting forth.

I would give them a lot more support if they ran an actual Lambo engine

Which of the teams/makes do?
Porsche. Ferrari. Is that it? Upcoming Aston?
The Cadillac engine isn't completely not a GM block, but it's really a Hendricks motor, right?

This article says the Cadillac motor is built in house by GM.

The Cadillac engine is likely based on the C8.R, but with a crossplane crank to give it that distinctive sound (and IIRC reduce vibration). The old engines they were using in the DPi cars were based on NASCAR blocks with a shorter stroke.

I was excited when I first heard about the program. With lamborghini being known for their V-12's it feels like a disappointed that they went with a turbo 8

It’s difficult to pack V12 with battery powertrain in a prototype car. Even LMH has more freely designs, but Aston Martin LMH comes V12 only and without battery pack.

The battery in the LMDh is located on the passenger side of the chassis next to the driver, so with a V12 it wouldn't make a difference whether hybrid or not. But there's other drawbacks which is why nobody else did it.

They don't use an actual Lamborghini engine?

If he’s not doing INDYCAR anymore I have a feeling grosjean will get poached by another team soon.
He was outrageously fast compared to his teammates last year

Sounds like Lambo is taking the running of the programme in-house, as with Porsche during the LMP1 era, and Peugeot today. Fingers crossed that they find success and the programme is rescued...
