i mean robin barely buffs crit and ruan mei doesn’t buff crit at all
robin gives 23% CV (48 on FuAs). considering sunday will give around 166% CV and sparkle gives around 141% CV, robin giving 23% and ruan mei giving 0% doesn’t rlly constitute them as “crit supports” IMO.
i get your point, but it sounds less like you’re “having to pull every crit support” and moreso just sounds like you’re pulling every harmony regardless (which is also fine). but i don’t think we should say crit supports are getting too much when they’ve gotten 2 dedicated supports
Robin gives my DPS a lot of CD by just being on the team and she is the best crit buffer right now. This is why people joke that it's Honkai Star Robin right now. They made her so busted that she works on every team except for break and DoT. When Ruan Mei came out in 1.6 where DHIl and Jingliu were reigning, you'd be hard pressed to find a showcase without her. All my DPSes are 1.X except for Rappa and they need every support since they've been left in the dust.
2 supports is more than enough for an archetype. The only way I'll be happy if Tribbie is a crit support is if she becomes a support for Blade and Jingliu who are rotting in my basement. Nevertheless I might pull for her if I end up liking her character.
“Good on every team except break and dot” actually most of her buffs are huge amounts of attack, 50 damage percent and action advance so she’s quite good on DoT teams.
Something like when you quantum break the enemy, the more stacks of entanglement the more damage the dots on them will cause when the enemy turn comes and all dots detonate at once. Would be a nice way of making Silver Wolf relevant again too.
I wonder what she'll be focusing on. Sunday has a lock on AA and summons, as well as crit/energy buffs, which means he's likely geared for Remembrance and any non-Remembrance Summoners we might get, so what's Tribbie's niche? God please be a DoT support and then have some mf in 3.X be a DoT mfer.
Remember that planar set that specifically only buffs whoever's in the first slot? Who wants to bet that's gonna be part of the meta for Amphoreus and she's the support for it?
Sparkle only uses her path if you’re playing her with Silver Wolf, seriously who tf basic attacks with sparkle? Harmony units being the same path basically means nothing, kit is what actually matters
the rule “pull every harmony” is mainly advice for new players similar to “pull two sustains”. if you don’t like a harmony character, you don’t have to pull them. the only limited 5 star i have is sunday but my account was fine beforehand because i was just using dps who aren’t reliant on specific harmony supports (acheron and boothill)
i don’t have robin and my account is fine- not every dps uses her. boothill and acheron both don’t care for her, and i plan to pull aglaea who doesn’t need her either as she can use RMC+sunday.
robin is amazing but you don’t need her to clear endgame as not every archetype needs her

Not a huge fan but If she’s good with Herta then I’ll have to pull. I have no 5 star harmony characters yet and I’m planning to pull for Herta and also Jade. It’ll be tough for me trying to get all 3

With how everyone claimed that Harmony was the most important path back when Ruan Mei was released, what's exactly easy to skip on her? I think that claim is just what you want and that's it, not really true.
the advice “pull every harmony” has always been a bit too binary. should you pull sparkle if you already have sunday and don’t have DHIL? should you pull ruan mei if you have robin and sunday and no break units? should you pull sunday if you have robin, ruan mei, sparkle, and no plans on pulling summoners?
it’s good advice for new players that they should pull a few meta harmony units (mainly robin and sunday) considering those units will be able to fit into the majority of teams they want in the future. however, for established players who already have harmony units - there’s no need to pull every harmony.
for example: imagine the main dps on your account are kafka and boothill, if tribbie is a crit support you deffo shouldn’t pull her; if your main dps are archeron and ratio, if tribbie is a summon support you’d rather pull a debuff support like JQ; if your main dps are aglaea and firefly, if tribbie is a HP support, you’d have no reason to pull her.
“never skip harmony units” is too black and white of a take to be objectively good advice, you should always pull harmony units for archetypes youre interested in - but there’s no point pulling a harmony for an archetype you have no interest in. and even then, sometimes a nihility unit can be just as good of a support in an archetype and you don’t need a harmony (fugue in break, JQ in debuff)
The fact that you have to go to examples and situations removes the "easiness" from the situation. The point is that "easy to skip" is just the reality of that player, not to claim if the advice is true or not.
And to answer your questions... The need is to pull the characters you like and the characters that buff the ones you like, I agree on that. But, what you shouldn't do isn't pulling characters that work outside of your archetypes but pulling characters you don't like.
i didn’t claim my answer would be easy or simple? the whole point of my comment was to add more nuance and complexity to the typical simple and binary rule. obviously it would be more complicated, but it’s important to point out
JQ does make a big difference for Acheron tho, same with Sunday for JY or Robin for basically anyone or even how it was with BS for Kafka and Sparkle for IL
First of all, they are the characters you like, the only thing necessary to have them out of the bench is you to play them. Second, Rappa was only a patch before Fugue, wtf are you talking about?
Fugue isn’t even necessary for Rappa, HMC works perfectly fine with her. I know remembrance MC is coming out but you can still switch paths with lightcone and relics intact. The only downside is that you can’t use MC on both sides of endgame modes, but it’s not like break and remembrance are the only team comps.
With Fugue, the team was two turn faster against Svarog at MoC12 than with the Trailblazer (autoplay on) and a 40k 0 cyles clear in PF without Gallagher was now also possible(autoplay on as well). 👍😎👍
If 0 cycling is what you like then sure, I guess Fugue is compulsory. HMC can still help you get full clear awards for those who don’t care about 0 cycling.
Edit: forgot that Fugue might be compulsory for those with no Ruan Mei and want to build break.
regarding your edit- she isn’t. since boothills release one of his best F2P teams that can full clear is boothill/bronya/HMC/gallagher. his best premium team (not sustainless tho) now is boothill/sunday/fugue/lingsha. both of those teams don’t need ruan mei, though she can substitute fugue or HMC
Tribbie of Janusopolis, she is basically the god Janus incarnate, as Tribios made of Trianne, Trinnon and Tribbie, multiple aspects of the same entity. The tri- prefix says it all.

I love how the scripts/ancient or fictional languages actually mean things in this game. So many just use them for design. And not knowing the meaning behind it doesn’t affect gameplay or the plot, it might even just come back in the atoryline anyway. Chill enough for casuals but still sth there for deep diggers.
Thought the top right one was wearing longer shorts. Got me thinking that if they did make that one a boy, it’d be absolutely groundbreaking for a gacha game 😂
