As I have mentioned, I am a UCLA undergraduate student who is currently working on a student run newsletter that takes information from your local city council meetings and puts it all in one cohesive newsletter. Hi again! As I mentioned last week, I am a Los Angeles undergrad student working with my peers on a newsletter that takes information from your local city council meetings and puts it in all one newsletter. Local politics is so important, but not many of us have the time to sit through an entire city council meeting. That is why we have formed this newsletter! If you have any questions or feedback, please email us at [info@purplely.org](mailto:info@purplely.org) and we will get the answers to your questions from the city council. Sign up here to receive this letter after every city council meeting.

The newsletter for the week of 10/17/22: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTfEq5KNrhxRG8IOF3V87JxZmBipGxcOOzNsqYgrjh7W9PKWxOLinqq3BPSMfjUOdqJ-hmG54F9jtaC/pub

LA City Council Meeting Newsletter 10/10/22

Hi everyone! I’m Lauren, a current Los Angeles undergraduate student majoring in political science with a lot of interest in public policy and voter education. Right now, I am working on a collective project to increase the accessibility of the LA City Council with a few of my classmates. Local government is of extreme importance, but City Council meetings are often lengthy and complicated to follow. In response, a few of my peers and I have started compiling short (non-partisan) summaries of each week's council meetings that can be sent to your email! I've attached a sample newsletter. This is a new project for us, and in order for it to be successful we need plenty of interaction and feedback from LA residents! Feel free to message me any questions you have.

Looking for Day Laborers to Help Move on a Sunday Morning

Hello everyone. Do any of the pickup spots for day labor have workers on a Sunday morning? I need to find two men to help move furniture and load a U-Haul. I am looking for something on the Westside/Central Los Angeles (as close to the beach as possible). Thanks for any information.

Does anyone know of any jobs hiring for weekends only? Either specific jobs, companies, or just types of jobs?

Too Many Options!!

I moved to LA about 3 months ago. I finally landed a job and now just starting to recoup financially. With that being said, I am now looking for things to do. I know saying that sounds crazy because there are sooooo many options, but I think that is my problem. I know of all the bigger things to do around here: Getty, beaches, 3rd Street Promenade, etc but I am looking for more local things to do. I live in West LA and never know exactly where to go or what to do. I really don't want to waste my time or money just driving around looking for things and Google just suggests the already obvious. Any suggestions on good dive bars, clubs, restaurants, book stores, coffee houses (not Starbucks) places to do wine tastings I can try out. I work all week and would be looking to do things on the weekends. I am pretty well rounded and like a lot of different things so tell me some of your favorite places LA locals!! Thanks.

Some users have started /r/asklosangeles and it looks like its getting support from /r/losangeles. Personally, I would say subscribe there and let this sub end with a whimper not a bang.

I have no experience and really need a job. Seriously.

I know this sub's pretty dead but I figured at least a few people might see this.

Like the title states, I'm in desperate need of a job. I'm an eighteen year-old student with no real work experience, though I have done some volunteer work.

For the past month I've applied at restaurants, my school, department stores, groceries, fast food places, listings from Craigslist, practically every place I can find and not one of these places has given me a single call back. I have a pretty good resume, speak fluent Spanish, and have no past criminal history in addition to being a hard worker, fast learner, and good communicator. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or perhaps it's just bad luck. While I know I can't expect a job to fall right into my lap so soon money's getting to be a huge, huge issue for me. I have enough to make next month's rent but after that, I'm gonna be SOL.

I wanted to know if anyone knows of somewhere that isn't picky about hiring people with little to no experience. I need a part time job somewhere in or close to the Valley (preferably the West Valley but beggars can't be choosers) for anything. At this point I'm willing to work minimum wage as the graveyard shift dishwasher. I just need a job ASAP and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Promoting this sub.

Hey all, if you believe this sub has potential and want to see it grow, please promote it in any NONSPAMMISH way you can. What I do is just mention this sub when offering advice in the other Los Angeles subs.

Any other ideas? Thanks.

So, who's always dreamed of being a mod?

I noticed some spam got through and while you guys fortunately downvoted it into oblivion, it bugs me that I didn't catch it for a long time. If anyone wants to get added as a mod here let me know.
