This may be a taboo question since this is for field notes but what other pocket notebooks do you or have you used? I know of moleskin and I just ordered a few notebooks from Denik for a few covers I really liked. Any other company’s out there that have nice cover art for their notebooks?
I kept forgetting which ones I picked up when or if I even picked up the ones I wanted & remembered that Field Notes was the perfect place to log it. Super fun finding new things to fill these books with
Coral one is the hobby lobby small sketch book (68pgs) I used it for daily notes. Purple one is the same kind of notebook. I use that one for my audio engineering class at school. Then the one TMR FN is for scholastic bowl this season and the other is my new daily.
The last few weeks I have posted pics and questions about FN covers - sheaths, Bellroy, lost dutchman, travelers passport - I've tried them all. My favourite is probably the sheath from JAB leather - thin, wears really nicely, and beautifully made. The last work trip I took I used the JAB sheath for my passport - and being bright orange it was a godsend when fishing in my bag for my passport. So that is where it may spend most of its time.
I was watching a YouTube video today and a pic made reminded me of one thing that I love about Field Notes - and that is how they wear. They are just beautiful. A testament to use, work, my journey. So maybe after spending hundreds of dollars on covers LOL - I may well end up exactly where I started....with a naked Field Notes in my back pocket. Ready for use. Taking up no space. Like me sometimes beaten - but still fronting up every day, and carrying the wear and tear of everyday life.
These are all of the Field Notes I've used in 2024. I only started to use them in April of this year, but my use and love for them has really grown over the past several months. The first two rows are the books I've used for daily life, and the Amber Kraft in the bottom is for coffee notes and the Heavy Duty is for logging workouts.
I know that these year in review posts are big on the FB group, but since I don't use FB I'd love to see more of them here!
I got the bellroy small cover for Field Notes as an early Christmas present. Those of you that have one - do they soften at all ? It feels really rigid. It's not Everyday Inspiration from Field trust the regular bellroy one.
I've only had about a week with it but I do like it! Only downside is I hate the zipper- makes it a bit annoying to write on. I do plan to get the Lochby Mini Field Journal when it comes out since there is no zipper but I will still use this for something!
I just picked up my first Field Notes books this past weekend. I have both lined and grid notebooks. I have started journaling/writing down my thoughts and what happened that day prior to going to bed. I find the field note to be the perfect size because I struggle to write along or figure out exactly what to write. Currently using a lined note book. My question is does anyone find it easy to use the grid the same as the lined books to journal (not bullet style)? I know blank pages are out because I would end up writing slanted and to big.
I have always used Field Notes without a cover. I ordered a month or two ago. I’m trying to figure out if I like it. It will not fit in my pocket is the obvious downside.
Your thoughts on using a cover or not using a cover.

My dream Field Notes is the Harvet set but I wasn't around for the release and don't know where to buy them second hand from that's relatively cheap (under $50)! Can anyone help me me locate them or willing to sell them to me or trade? I've been looking for these but I've had no luck- they're so gorgeous 💔💔💔
