Driftscussion Widebody downsides?
I need to add over fenders or widebody fenders to the front of my car since my wheels stick out after putting the FDF Mega Mantis angle kit on. I want to make the rear as wide as the front so it doesn't look so odd but I learned that the wider stance in the rear would lessen side bite during drift. Does anyone have experience with this? Is the difference negligible? This is for grassroots so I'm not trying to min max everything in the build, but if the difference is huge than I'd rather not do it.

How nerdy of an answer do you want? There are a lot of factors that go into all of this like driving style and the tracks you want to focus on driving.
The short answer is, why care about side bite if min maxing isn't your priority, if a wide body will let you make the car look the way you want then go for it.
I personally have never heard about a wider stance lessening side bite, that would be more of a suspension/coilover setup and can be very dependent on the chassis. My car is essentially a Meihan spec car with less hp, I try to have the rear track width be the same as the front to help with the car snap quickly and rotating around the center of the car rather than the front.

It can lessen side bite yes but you typically make up for that with lower tires pressures, softer spring rates, and more importantly a softer or no sway bar in the rear. I wouldn’t worry too much about it honestly. Big thing is don’t go crazy wide and then only run like a 235 or something it’ll look goofy. Gotta have the right amount of grip for the power you have
