Before you post, please be sure you have read the rules!

(On mobile, you can find the rules by clicking on "See More". On desktop, check them out in the sidebar on the right.)

Basically, your post needs to be asking for help with your room design, or it needs to be showing a room you updated using advice you received here. Your room must be an INTERIOR room, and it must be a room in your home. No offices, no schoolrooms, no patios, no balconies, etc.

We want the focus to stay on home interior rooms, preferably with posts featuring photos of those rooms so you get the best advice. If you feel you just must use a 3D app rendering, you need to also include an actual room photo. No one wants to look at an entire feed of just artificial content! A big part of what makes this sub great is getting to take a look at actual rooms. If you aren't sure you want your photo to be connected with your account, please feel free to post on an alt account (and message mod mail for approval if your post is auto removed).

Thanks for doing your part to keep the sub useful and on point!

Living Room Please help me figure out what is missing or amiss in my living room!

Hi everyone, I have been working on figuring out my style and what works for me with my new apartment. I feel like something is missing in here or something is amiss, but I can't quite pinpoint it. Quick note that I do not like overly bold colors, and lean toward more neutral/calming shades. Also, the arm chair is actually a deeper mint color, but the photos are from the evening, so the light by it distorts the color a bit. Help appreciated, thanks!

Bathroom HATE MY BATHROOM! What color paint and simple fixes would make this better?

I hate almost everything about this bathroom, we plan to do a major reno in a few years. Until then, how can I make this a bit better with simple changes?

I feel like it was last renovated with remnant scraps, SO MANY TEXTURES! between the tile walls & floor, shower insert, countertop, and wood grain. What color would downplay the chaos?

Living Room How can I make my living room complete?

Thumbnail gallery

Hey, everyone. This is my new living room, and I’m liking it so far, but it still feels incomplete.

I was thinking about a George Nelson bench as a center table, but I’m not sure it would fit. Measurements made it seem too big for the room.

As for the walls, definitely going to get some curtains and a few more pictures/paintings.

What would you do to this room? Any ideas for above the TV? I’m not exactly excited about a floating shelf, I think it’s too basic.

Thanks!

Living Room Keep rug flush with wall or leave a gap?

Thumbnail gallery

Adding a new rug in our basement and trying to figure out if the rug should be flush against the far wall like shown in the picture, or is it better to leave a ~6 inch gap to give a little border (like shown in the other picture)? The wall is used for a projector screen, and when fully rolled out, the rug will reach the side wall flush in order to fit between the pillar.

Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

Home Office Space How to cozy up a windowless den/home office?

Thumbnail gallery

I’m renting a place with a den that has no windows but nice French doors. The dark floors and gray walls make it feel a bit gloomy. I’d love to turn it into a cozy, functional home office, but not sure how to make the best use of the space.

Any tips for lighting, decor, or layout to brighten it up and make it inviting? Would love your advice.

PS: I bought 2 frames three months ago but still can’t decide what to put in them.

Bedroom What can I add or change to the space around my dresser??

Please excuse the mess, I’m doing a post Christmas purge and the bathroom is under construction! I’m going for a cute but grown up coquette theme and very much love with a man who’s given me free reign to do whatever I wish. I’m not sure what to do with the wall space above our dresser.

Living Room Update with before/during: room tar black advanced but I need one more advice. Do I finish painting the ceiling and windows? I’m chickening out even though I think a color French would look good.

Argh I am chickening out!! @nevayash

Feels a bit all over the place. Any vision is welcome. I love the rug but I feel like it might be limiting or bringing me away from finding what else to put in it do with the space.

Other Interior Room What can I do with this room?

We have a spare room in the house, which we tried to use as a playroom (Please excuse the chaos!) but it is never used and doesn’t have any seating. I have no idea how to make better use of the space, particularly because the slope of the roof is so steep. Any suggestions what to do with this room, and if we should keep it as a playroom or turn it into something else?? TIA!

I just moved into and I’ve been slowly setting up but I take lighting and decor way too seriously and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to decorate the walls and the staircase. Most urgently right now is how do i hang this tapestry, it’s a vertical design but too long to fit on the shorter walls, I can’t decide if it would look good horizontal on the wall opposite the colored lights or if I should put it vertical somewhere on the longer walls, but then I get caught up with how to do that without making it look tacky, help me it’s been 3 days oh god

Kitchen Seafoam green tiles for kitchen?

Thumbnail gallery
65 Upvotes

We were just at a viewing and saw these seafoam green 10cm/10cm tiles - do you think this looks good? Or dated?

I'm trying to assess a consensus as we wont live here too long (maybe 2 more years) and want to choose a tile which hopefully helps to maintain/increase resale value. If you're interested in what our kitchen looks like currently it's my most recent post on my profile.

I know there is a whole debate about making a space yours but my taste is expensive and my partner won't go 50/50 with me on it unless we're living in a place longer term 😂😂

Living Room What do I need to change about this?

Unfortunately we're going to have to get rid of that brown loveseat near the TV. It has termites :/ 8x10 jute under the couch. The couch also kind of irritates the shit out of me because we have two dogs who jump on it and fling it apart.

It’s very grey and lifeless at the moment. I’m thinking a plant somewhere and changing the accessories so it’s less grey.

It’s a rental so I’m limited in what I can do - any help appreciated!

Dining Room Final updates to my dining room / before and after

Thumbnail gallery

After many months of searching for the right chandelier for my dining room, I finally decided to hang two pendants instead! I love the organic look and feel. My house is a 1950’s colonial so I didn’t want to go too modern but also love the more architectural feel of the dining set and wanted to find something to go with everything.

Thanks for all the advice about my curtains. I replaced them with a heavier weight velvet twill fabric and steamed them as well as raising the curtain rod. They still don’t look quite right, so any additional suggestions would be helpful.

Need to get art next!

Bathroom En Suite bathroom needs modernising

What can we do to give us more storage and make our en suite more modern? I don’t want to change the shower cubicle, tiles or shower (even though it’s ugly), nor the floor tiles, but everything else can go.

The current colour is wrong and needs to go!

It’s quite small at about 1.9m x 2.2m, with a diagonal door.

Living Room Big couch dreams, little couch living room?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I’m looking for thoughts on couch placement in my living room. The wall the it is currently on (blue couch) will only fit one that is below 65 inches, anything higher overflows. We had an old couch floating and facing the large window but it really needs to be 58inches or smaller to have walkways.

My dream is a comfortable, nappable, but cute (mcm or thick square arms) couch/loveseat. Anyone have a favorite? If I found said dream couch, where should I put it? What size should I get?

Note: I don’t have any other rooms/places to put the plants or bikes. I would also like to occasionally set up a projector. We currently do it on the big blank wall behind the green chair.
