Seeking Advice Foster Puppy in Need of a Forever Home
Hello Calgary,
My family recently rescued the puppy pictured above, named Bruno, from a negligent situation where his basic needs were not being met. We reached out to local rescues to help foster him until he finds a forever home, but with most at capacity or extremely busy, we have yet to hear back or are on the long waiting lists. Following advice from the city’s animal services at 311, we’ve started the process of rehoming him ourselves.
Bruno is just over 16 weeks old, born on 25 August 2024. He’s a Poodle and Great Pyrenees mix. He currently weighs about 35 pounds, and is expected to reach 100 pounds or more as an adult. My family has gotten his vaccinations up to date, and have taken him for a basic medical exam. We have also bought him his essential supplies like a kennel. Despite his difficult start to life, Bruno is an adaptable and fast learner. He’s relatively kennel and house trained, and already knows basic commands.
Bruno is incredibly lovable and friendly with both humans and other dogs. We believe he would thrive in an active home that can fully meet his needs. As experienced dog owners ourselves—Sandy, our 14-year-old senior rescue, has been with us for 12 years—we understand the commitment required to care for a dog. We want to ensure Bruno’s forever family is fully prepared to provide the love and care he deserves for the rest of his life.
If you’re interested in welcoming Bruno into your home and are ready for the commitment, please feel free to reach out. If you also have any advice or ideas to help us in this process, we would be more than grateful to hear from you.

Local Shopping/Services Bird Sitter
Hello,
A close family member unexpectedly passed away and I need to go back home for 3 weeks for funeral and what not. I have two cockatiels and am very devastated that I won’t be able to take them along with me.
Is there an affordable place I can keep my birds while I’m away? Money is extremely tight right now due to me already booking flights, paying for funeral costs and stuff like that. I would love it if someone can take care of my birds while I’m away, but I know that might not happen.
I’m not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Local Shopping/Services Safeway Glamorgan-Chicken Savings
The Glamorgan Safeway received way too large of a shipment of chicken. Chicken breasts, thighs, wings and whole chickens all have discount stickers. All packed yesterday with B/B date for Dec 30th. My family doesn’t eat a ton of meat so I only picked up a family pack of chicken breasts that worked out to about $2.75 per chicken breast. Whole chickens were adjusted to about $9 a chicken, didn’t have a chance to check out the rest of the options, but they had tons of stock and a good variety. The lady working told me the sale should go until tomorrow as well. Just throwing it out there in case someone can save some cash over the holidays!

Local Shopping/Services Independent local eyewear glasses store
Hello Calgary!
I am looking for an independent glasses store (not the chain ones, example LensCrafters). Stylish frames, quality lenses, friendly customer service, knowledgeable optometrist, and comprehensive eye exam (the one where they take a photo of the back of your eye). Comment with your favorite luxury store front. Thank you!

Calgary Transit Disgusting lack of headphone use
When did it become acceptable to listen to music on speaker while on transit?! Several times a week i have to loudly tell someone to either put in headphones or turn it off, usually being ignored until i say it loud enough that the whole bus turns to look. Why is this even a thing? Phones come with headphones! Its rude to everyone else and your music sucks. If I can hear your music over my music, you are a [breaks rule one].

Home Owner/Renter stuff Enmax electricity 3 year rate drop
Just noticed Enmax's 3 year eletricity rate dropped a penny to 8.79 kwh.
Nat gas 1 year also dropped to 3.99 gj, 3 year unchanged. Though I'm thinking nat gas prices rise through 2025, and don't want my rate renewing middle of winter.. so I'll stick with what I have

Also sorry if this post isn't for this sub, I just thought it was location-specific enough
