Questions/Support/Bugs When people reply with just a pushpin πŸ“Œ

Beginner question β€” What is the purpose when people reply with just a pushpin πŸ“Œ?

Is it just for their own personal use (maybe they can search in their own replies?)

Or is it being β€œfound” by other services? Like getting added to a feed? And what might those be?

Or something else?

Hi there, nope, that is a bookmark

Since Bluesky allows the use of custom algorithms and did not had a bookmark core functionality, someone created a feed that shows posts where you reply with a pin! Basically your own bookmark

Cool right ?

There are a ton of similar app that augment or just add func things, you can check for bluesky directory or blue sky apps

Awesome.

I feel that there are great services / feeds that folks have created that I have absolutely no awareness of.

Thanks for the screenshot so I can hunt that one down.

Do you have other favorite feed services?

I also like to add a note with the 'Pushpin' to know why I did so and it enables me to search for it across 2 accounts I use.

You could try out 'listifications' to receive DM's when added to a list/blocked by someone.

There is awesome-bluesky on github! See my notes on it here: -

I list some utilities I have been testing in that.

"Quiet Posters" - for the people who aren't just continuously skeeting, but would otherwise get lost in the cacophony.

Yup, there is no bookmarks functionality in the AtProtocol itself.

But each app can add whatever it wants, so some Bluesky clients have it already.

The issue would be that if you change the client or use the webasite then you will not see the bookmarks, as those would be managed by the 3rd party apps themselves.

But the "pin" hack stays as it's in a reply, so it's portable, does not matter the client.

With respect, isn’t this similar to how the hashtag concept also started?
