Guess I’m an outlier, but I will be turning this off immediately.
Last thing I need is this slow encroachment of algorithmic content being pushed onto me just trying to search art tags or something. Odd how much this feature is requested while the site is praised for having no default algorithms - despite this being a default algorithm by nature.
At least you can turn this off, but eh…
I don’t like how they’re rushing to rebuild Twitter and focusing less on the original goals of the site and the protocol. Let go of the past and let something be its own thing, please.
Honestly, I think it's a healthy thing to reexamine our relationship with social media. I watched a clip from a recent Markiplier stream the other day and he came down to a similar feeling, that social media itself is a net negative for many (most?) people, and while I choose not to completely abandon it, I'm not investing more of my life into it. The people who need to get a hold of me already have means to do so.
FWIW, I do think the moderation tools we have for us so far have made Bluesky a far better alternative for me than Twitter ever could be. That alone makes it fundamentally different in my usage. But your point stands.
