Tech Cannot add new user in 2023 a6

My old user removed itself and now I just get this error whenever I try to log in. Any ideas?

Thanks!

If I had a dollar for everytime the MMI glitched out, I'd have enough for a 2023 A6.

Usually I have to give it a rest or reboot.

Already done both. think you could probably buy a few RS6s with the number of bugs these MMI systems have

As a young naive software dev I was so excited to see “real code”.

And then, over the years, I was blown tf away by how bad a lot of companies code I had been to was. Like absolutely terrible.

if it was good code it would work 🫣🤷🏼‍♂️😅

Nah. Plenty of people write bad code that works. That’s why some people think they can code.

Even a major airlines I did some work for had absolutely terrible code. It works as they expect. When things do go wrong, it’s a nightmare trying to troubleshoot and identify the actual bug. It was also just wildly unperformant.

Bad code is bad because it causes issues with… Maintainability Readability Difficulties extending it

Bad code is hard to read and super easy to break.

it mainly causes problems because it is not optimized while using heaps of system ressources imho. but that is not a problem as long as there is enough resource :)

My sq5 loves to randomly decide that it just doesn’t feel like connecting my phone

This connects to my phone no matter what. Even if I tell it to connect to a different one...

Most likely need Audi to reset your vehicle. This happened to me recently and that fixed it.

Do a factory reset within settings -> system maintenance. If your SOS on your headliner is anything but solid green, there may be a module that needs to be replaced that is causing this

The SOS is luckily still green. I'm waiting for the person with the app on their phone to get home and I will then try and change the password but if that doesn't work then I will try this! Thanks!

If you continue to have issues after the reset call your local dealer and ask them to create an Audi Support ticket. Sometimes they can reset the backend of your vehicles software remotely. If you provide me with some information I can do it as well. I work at a Porsche/Audi dealer

Ok thanks!. It's really annoying not haveing an Audi dealer within 2 hours. For some reason we have a škoda, VW and seat dealer but none of them are capable of doing anything (not even key battery changes) on an audi

Reboot MMI? Hold with two fingers on the clock and a menu will appear, then u just press reboot. Worked on my a4 2021

I've just tried that. Sadly still doing this

I had a similar issue on a 2020 A4. I bought it used and I couldn’t remove the previous user or add myself. The factory reset failed every time. Took it in under warranty and they found that the radio that controls Bluetooth and cellular was busted and needed replaced. It needs to communicate with Audi’s servers to do the reset and add users. Not sure if that’s your issue but if you can’t get it to work on your own, probably need to visit the dealer unfortunately.

I'm just waiting for the person who has the app on their phone and I'm gonna reset the password. If not then we might have too. Annoying because the nearest dealer is over 2+hrs away. (Cons of living on a remote island with no audi dealer)

Maybe try re-adding the user thru the app?

Do a hard reset yourself first and it should fix it. If not, then call Audi Customer support. They’ll walk you through the reset and do the tier 2 on their end.

Good Luck!

Just go to the closest dealer. They'll have you set in 20 minutes.

1

u/squibbywilliam 2023 Audi S6 Avant Oct 11 '24

The closest dealer is over 2 hours away. I'd prefer to fix it at home rather than going to the nearest city

u/gergsisdrawkcabeman 2022 S5 Oct 11 '24

This was my problem, as well. I drove mine for 6 months until a business meeting put me about 30 minutes from one. It's super god damn frustrating.

And pay 1000 dollars for the service

You can hard reset the MMI, I’ve done it before. Or factory reset

1

u/squibbywilliam 2023 Audi S6 Avant Oct 11 '24

Ive already tried that. I'm just gonna give it a few days and then phone em if I can't add it again

Gotta do drugs first though…

Holy shit. I never want to log in to a car. Hope my 2015 lasts forever.

It's so that it saves the seat position and stuff. But it's pretty annoying when it doesn't work

u/MeanForest '17 A4 B9 Avant 2.0 TDI Oct 12 '24

It's not mandatory...

1

u/OppositeStrength Oct 11 '24

You might have to go to some other menu and allow some sort of data waiver, often it asks every time on startup if you never confirmed it but that mightve gone away for you, if you havent confirmed the waiver you can't save user settings.

1

u/squibbywilliam 2023 Audi S6 Avant Oct 11 '24

I confirmed it just before I took the video when I turned the ignition on. I'm giving it a few days and then I'll try again but if not I'm going to phone Audi about it

Iv'e had exactly the same problem with mine, went back to audi and they did an update and that partly solved it allowed me to log in as a user but then every now and again the MMI resets and kicks me out saying system unavailable and a warning comes up on the dash saying SOS system fault and the microphone won't work. It's booked in to go back to audi, and apparently, they need it for 4 days to replace and update.

1

u/squibbywilliam 2023 Audi S6 Avant Oct 11 '24

Ouch! I'm just giving it some time to think and then hopefully it will work. I really don't want to have to take it to the dealership as it is 2+ hours away. Especially just for something that could be a 20 minute fix

1

u/christaxey Oct 11 '24

When we first got it, sat nav, cruise control, drive select wouldn't work. A soft reset helped with some of it, spoke to audi support through the app, if I remember holding the mute button down for 30 seconds, that pushed an update through. Might work for the log in as well

Check your clock and GPS settings. Start an car app that requires Internet, such as the weather app. Then try again. If that does not work press and hold the volume button to deep restart mmi. Until you see Audi logo. Then repeat steps above.
