About L.A. Groceries?

Is there anywhere near downtown where a dozen eggs aren’t $7? 😂

Aren’t Trader Joe’s eggs still some the least expensive? Am I wrong on this?

Right now with the bird flu and farmers having to destroy a whole lot of egg-laying hens because of it, eggs everywhere are going to be that much, if you can find them at all.

Jesus Christ everyone here exaggerates like crazy. $600 a day for food? $7 eggs? What the hell is wrong with you people? I go to the Trader Joe's next to Beverly center and a dozen eggs is $3.

During my holiday prep I ended up at more than one grocery store in the same day. Eggs at a Ralph’s were $7 and Trader Joe’s were still about $3. Same differences for regular milk. I was so mad. Not sure how grocery chains are getting away with this

Every grocery store is more expensive for some things and less expensive for others. The produce at Ralph's is usually cheaper and tastier than Trader Joe's. Most things though trader Joe's is more than reasonable.

It’s just different profit margins for every business. Ralph’s gives you like double the amount of cilantro for the same price as Trader Joe’s. Shopping multiple stores if you can helps save money

eggs were $7 at smart and final today. no one is exaggerating.

I just paid $6.42 for Walmart brand eggs. It’s not a huge eggsaggeration. Also, you’re neglecting to mention that was $600/day for five people who are only eating out because they’re tourists.

Yowza that's expensive. What part of LA do you live? Is the price different in store vs online ordering? Cuz I always just get my groceries in person.

I’m in SCV, and Walmart prices are the same in-store as they are online :/

Damn that sucks. Maybe poke around and there's grocery stores with more reasonable prices.

I am temporarily on medication that makes that difficult. But thank you!

Trader Joe’s is closer to $5.

And not in DTLA for Costco is the best egg price.

Costco eggs just got recalled. Check out the recall and your eggs.

only applies to the 24 count organic pasture raised eggs

And people should check the recall and their eggs

Yes. And people should check it and their eggs. Not sure what the misunderstanding is.

Because it’s a very simple sentence and I have no idea why you keep responding. Just because you shared the recall doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t read it and check their eggs against it. Saying “this is the recall” doesn’t negate the need to check their eggs.

This is very silly and I’m done with it, now. I hope you checked the recall and your eggs ;)

I've gotten lucky at Target, found a dozen on special for $3.80-something. It's definitely expensive right now, good luck on the egg hunt.

Check local and national news reports or google bird flu.

Ralph's on Wilshire/Western. Also check out local Mexican grocers like Numero Uno etc, there's some closer to you and they're wayyyyy cheaper

Did you check the ethnic markets?

u/ezln_trooper 1d ago

They’ve been hit too. That $7 used to be the price of the 18 packs of eggs at my local Superior; now it’s pushing $11!

1

u/Ilovehamcroissants 1d ago

The 24 count at my local Superior go for $21.
