Did you do something this year you knew you probably weren't supposed to? A little too proud of a skincare or beauty win? Overspend? Here's your chance to confess and ring in the new year with a clean slate!
Keep it skincare/beauty related, we Snail Gods don't want to hear about unrelated topics. Also, don't judge each other, that is for the Council of Slime to decide.
i know about cheeryep, judydoll, girlcult, flowerknows, and florasis. bonus points for pretty/unique packaging and good pigment! i just ordered some palettes from cheeryep and flowerknows (lively and black swan) and im super pumped
I originally bought this product to improve the appearance of my eye area. It was often suggested in several threads across different beauty subreddits that it can reduce lines, remove milia, diminish dark circles, etc.
Sadly, it's not enough, and after a derm consultation, I had to drop this barely-used product from my routine and resort to instant solutions, particularly milia extraction.
Months later, I got an idea to repurpose this eye cream as a lip moisturizer since eye cream is...a moisturizer, and whatever is safe for the eyes is probably safe for the lips (not sure about eye creams with retinol). This COSRX one in particular claims to be loaded with peptides, an ingredient that is usually promoted as good for the skin.
In these past few weeks, I've been using this eye cream as a buffer for my lips every night before/after applying a retinoid (Adapalene) on my face. Prior to this, I'd been using lanolin and vaseline to protect my lips from the irritation and dryness that come as side effects of retinoid application. I'd say that so far, the COSRX eye cream works BETTER. In the mornings, my lips are plump with no signs of dry patches and sore corners. I can go ahead and put a lipstick/lip tint over them.
In case you find yourself stuck with an eye cream that you can no longer use but cannot waste it without emptying it first, perhaps you can repurpose it as a lip moisturizer in the meantime.
However, would I repurchase this product for my lips as I continue with my retinoid treatment? Maybe, unless I find something cheaper.
Makeup in general has been off my radar for some time and I'm not sure where to even jump in anymore. I'm still using Skin 79 BB Cream but in my 30s I find myself wanting a more dewy finish and a lighter coverage.
I don't know where to begin! What have I missed the last 5 years? What are people loving or hating?
When I apply Beauty of Joseon's Aqua-Fresh sunscreen, I feel like...
I am a princess of a faraway land, lush and green. The sun delicately filters into my room as I gently apply the white cream handed by my ladies-in-waiting. Delivered all the way from Korea, they mention, made from hand-picked lumopetals. The skilled craftsmen only produce this shielding cream at night, to soak up the restorative powers of moonlight. I apply the cream. Silken, smooth, hydrating... My cheeks are as plump and juicy as the blackberries I apply to my lips as rouge. I venture outside, leaving my cherry-blossom parasol in my room as the magical cream protects me from the sun's deleterious rays. I make sure to accidentally pass the handsome gardener. Protected from the heat of Helios' chariot, I instead feel the warmth from the gardener's amorous glances.
...and then I remember I am living a normal life. But seriously, huge fan of this product!
I am super pleased with the protection I get with this sunscreen (as a very pale-skin girlie in Australia). I'm not sure how this works under makeup because I only wear very minimal concealer. I'm pale so not sure if this has a white cast or not. Very hydrating and my skin absorbs it right up (skin type: normal/ dehydrated, only skin concern being redness).
Does anyone else have the problem of this sitting on the skin and not absorbing?
When I wear it it blends really well and gives me a flawless finish. But if I wipe my nose or touch my face it instantly comes off and reveals my skin underneath quite obviously.
Especially for those that tend to break out from oil based products and benefit from a simpler routine. Products that minimise pores/acne, control oil and skin looking extra plump and dewy.
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Toning Toner, ampoule and soothing cream feel nice but no improvement.
Illiyoon ceramide ato soothing gel feels nice and hydrating but not much visible improvement.
Hii! I replied to another post earlier asking for baby pink lip tints and a few people wanted swatches so I decided to swatch everything I have! I realized it would be easier to view as a post instead of a reply which is why I am posting it seperately, the original post I replied to is here .
I usually go for light pink, mauve berry colors or very deep reddish-brown colours (I know my first season is winter and my second is most likely dark autumn )
I have brown skin and pigmented lips so a lot of the colors will look different on my arms because of that. my undertone also leans towards the cooler side if that helps. I took both arm and hand swatches but I would refer to the hand swatch because of the color showing more and not mixing with my skin color as much
I have my bare lips shown (to show my natural pigmentation and lip color) as well as a fairly vibrant color worn to show how the lippies I wear to make my lips look pink might be overly vibrant/saturated on a lighter skin tone
I have a big collection of swatches I have favourited in there so I wish I could share all of them but I tried to include the most helpful/diverse ones, I dont think its possible to make a collection public but I wish I could and just share the link to it 🥲
if anyone has any question about any of these lippies feel free to ask!!
also just beware that the lighting can change the color quite a bit so take these with a grain of salt!!
I chose to show this one specifically because it does present fairly bright but ends up looking like a baby pink on me
an arm swatch so the colors will look a bit different
Looking for a hydrating/moisturizing toner/essences/serums for my very oily, acne prone skin.
I currently use CosRX Propolis and it's okay. I layer it multiple times but even so, the hydration is mediocre. The good thing is it doesn't break me out. I used Ti'am B5 Toner years ago and it felt amazing. The only thing is it broke me out bad after a while. But I love the way it felt on my skin and want that feeling back.
I need someone thing that is more hydrating than CosRX Propolis, that will be friendly with my very oily, acne-prone skin.
How do you balance your pimple patch usage rate with the cost? How fast do you go through them?
I feel like im going through an insane amount. I bought 2 packs by mixsoon so should be about 160 patches. I’ve almost used them all in like, 3 weeks 😩😩
Where I live I don’t have access to the very cheap patches, the cheapest I’ve found are mixsoon and Purito. I currently have a lot of active acne :( I was about to place a new order and man the price 😩
I normally use them morning and then replace them with new patches evening. Is that wrong?
I’ve found it really hard to find good photos of swatches of Flower Knows (and other Asian makeup brands) on medium complexions, so here is my contribution. This is my whole Flower Knows collection, but I haven’t used them very much so I can’t give much of a review.
All of the products in the line include saccharomyces, galactomyces, rice extract, rice bran extract, niacinamide, and ceramide np. I’m interested in the serum especially. They are on the pricier side and have added fragrance. Have any of you tried this line? Or would you?
The brand seems to be Kaxier, I can't find anything at all on this brand. At best, I found one that does some concealers on yesstyle, but I'm not sure if it's the same company or just same name. I have been searching for a darker palette and these two are perfect... problem is I can't find the og anywhere. There's a shop on taobao but has almost no reviews and few orders. It's also dirt cheap... which makes me think the palettes will either be horrible or made with hurtful products. Anyone has any advice on this?
I recently realized, that spring, peachy-pink shades complement my fair to neutral skin tone better than cool toned pinks. especially this eyeshadow palette makes my blue eyes pop and enhance their blueness.
so, here are my recent favorite peach shade products, for which I'm looking for lip products that match this color story. ty!
• Clio Pro Eye Palette Air K-Market #09 Peach Mate Apple
• 3CE Face Blush Mood For Blossom Edition #Pure Cake
• A'PIEU Juicy-Pang Water Blusher #PKO3 Guava
• The Saem Saemmul Single Blusher #CR07 Mango Peach
I've heard that in our 20s we only really need sunscreen and moisturizer, but apart from that I also hear a lot about many products such as anti wrinkling or rejuvenating products being practically useless or potentially even damaging to use before the age of 25.
So just hoping to get some general know how (and any stories) because common sense isn't always so common.
What I do know:
Moisturizer needs to be used on face, neck, limbs/hands after showering/at night.
Any SPF works just make sure there's SPF on your face during the day.
What I don't know:
Is there such a thing as too early for retinol/retinal?
When does Vitamin C join the game?
What are some things you wish you started doing earlier?
Edit:
Thanks so much everyone for all the replies! Lots of wisdom in the comments.
Big takeaways seem to be:
- SUNSCREEEEN
- Vitamin C is optional, could go on in the morning with the sunscreen
- Moisturizer is good.
- Retinol is optional, could go on at night with the moisturizer.
- Cleansing of some kind is good. Gentle cleanser and a bit of exfoliation is nice. Less is more. Too much might hurt.
- Be observant of how my skin reacts to stuff. Simple routine is good.
The olive young global website is having an event where you can receive a special gwp for buying 2 products from a select group of brands. I ended up doing 2 separate orders that qualified and got the gift twice.
Each gift had the same samples and the mini set of heveblue products but the full size items were different. I received the deardot serum the first time and the self beauty spray in my second order. The only brand I have tried from this gift is self beauty but just the lip mask; I still have not tried the sprays so I thought this was a pretty nice gwp to introduce these different brands.
Do you like it? Or is it just a habit for you? Cause for me, since I found the right products, doing my skincare routine is a moment for me to relax. It gives me satisfaction and relaxation, so it is not a moment i dread, but something I look forward to ^^
I am about to turn Twenty and I am curious if I should start it or wait until my mid-twenties or thirties.
I do not really have any concerns to be seeking it but wanted to start embracing the anti aging benefits of retinol.

I’m a big fan of the Florette eyeshadows, but I actually cannot imagine a universe where this would be practical. Like ok you mix your perfect color and then after one sip of water you have to find the exact same ratio. I get it maybe for taking photos but it just seems clunky to carry around in your bag all day. Can someone who has this actually tell me if it’s worth it? I think the colors are adorable (especially the top right) and I LOVEEE the concept, but it just seems inconvenient.
