What Happened to Friendly Canadians?

Post image

Got this dm after making a comment on a post about Trump’s Christmas X post. My comment was in support of annexing Canada if it was peaceful.

Given the historical inaccuracy of seething Redditors. I now believe that Canada will get annexed by the US and most likely ask for it.

They all got angsty because Trudeau ruined their country

they seem to all hate him, unlike america where half hates what biden did and the other half hates what trump did and is about to do again

Fidel Jr didn’t do a good job and made the country so irrelevant that US could unironically annex it.

FYI I understand the guys sentiment but it’s more the meta analysis of the comment.

Wasn’t friendly to suggest annexing a country.

I accept that dude as an honorary American, cheers!

Canada would probably be speaking Russian right now without the US protecting them.

u/urbanoideisto KENTUCKY 🏇🏼🥃 1d ago

Half of them already speak Fr*nch, so Russian might be an improvement for them.

u/ibugppl WASHINGTON 🌲🍎 1d ago

I'm going to study and learn Fr*nch so I can refuse to speak it as opposed to being unable to.

I cant really blame them. If another country's leader was blabbering about annexing the US I would probably react the same way online.

u/TantricEmu 1d ago edited 1d ago

I wouldn’t, I would just laugh at them, but then again no one could annex us anyway. I guess it’s not funny for the Canadian guy because he knows that we actually could.

Seriously. Blockade like three ports, take the Great Lakes, and bomb Winnipeg to cut their transcontinental railroad. It would be over faster than Saddam.

1

u/rsteroidsthrow2 1d ago

You could offer to let Albertans go hog wild on BC and have a split of the plunder from Ontario and speed it up even more.

If we’re doing 1812.2.0, might as well issue some letters of marque and reprisal.

u/GJohnJournalism 21h ago

Trumps rhetoric isn’t helping relations. Combine with years of us dealing with a lame duck PM more concerned about socks than following through with his promises, we’re a bit on edge.

Dont worry there are more friendly canadians than hostile ones. I have tons of family in canada and they love the US. Dont listen to terminally online people.

9

u/Kevroeques 1d ago

If going solely by the opinions of typical redditors, most Americans also hate the US. Reality is thankfully not Reddit

12

u/ascillinois 1d ago

Ya thats also insane. Its crazy how big of a echo chamber certain subreddits are these days

Tbf threatening to annex someone's country (no matter how unlikely) doesn't exactly make for friendly conversation

From my experience as well as the experience of a lot of people who do business in Canada that are in the us, there has been like no such thing as a nice canadian. I had an acquaintance who worked at a media company in NYC, and he said it was company policy that whenever you are talking to someone from a Canadian company, you have a lawyer right next to you. It doesn't matter if you're an intern, they're an intern, anything, because they would try everything to pull a fast one.

If America goes down it’ll be falling apart and reigning debris down on both Mexico and Canada who would’ve failed far sooner.

5

u/Kronos9898 1d ago

You made a comment about supporting annexing Canada and your surprised it made a Canadian angry?

Trump disrespects Canadians and you are surprised that they get mad about it? Go look at Canadians approval of the United States over time, it’s not as high as you might think it is.

8

u/TheBestTurtle_ 1d ago

“Why would someone be mad about us talking about annexing their country” I’m not anti American but do you hear yourself bro

3

u/ComfortablyyNumb 15h ago

Exactly what I thought. I mean what do they expect with such a statement?!

3

u/_aelysar 1d ago

1) Invade to liberate Quebec 2) Give them to France 3) Keep the rest as a territories

3

u/Evidencebasedbro 1d ago edited 1d ago

I wonder what you would post about the Cannuks if they suggested peacefully annexing the Lower 48 and making then into one huge Canadian province, lol.

2

u/LurkiLurkerson 1d ago

No need to wonder. I've seen Canadians joke about that a bunch, just as often as we've been joking about annexing them. Trump didn't originate it. It's bantz.

3

u/lowchain3072 CALIFORNIA🍷🎞️ 1d ago

At one point I saw a comment saying that the US doesn't even deserve to be a province, just a territory with a single seat of their House of Commons legislature thing

1

u/Evidencebasedbro 1d ago

That's obviously unfair and an AH move!

1

Someone's mad about Justin Trudeau. Also "guaranteed" lol.

1

u/CrimsonTightwad 23h ago

When Canada gets the inbred royal wenches off their money we can talk about historical dust heeps. Second no one in our Anglosphere is in the business of hurting each other anymore. NATO is our mutual interest/security pillar and it will survive Agent Orange and his bitch Putin.

1

u/Life_Confidence128 22h ago

It’s ironic for them to say the US will end up in the trash bin of history while their government is collapsing in on itself

1

u/Acceptable_Peen 11h ago

Like people from everywhere, The internet gave them an anonymous voice to be their true selves.

1

u/kazinski80 6h ago

Don’t think it was ever a real thing. Millennial age Internet effect

u/canadabanana67 1h ago edited 1h ago

Canadians are justifiably pissed off that the president elect is saying that Canada should be the 51st state and calling Trudeau the “governor of Canada”. Would you like it if Trudeau was doing that shit? You don’t think it would be insulting to your sense of sovereignty or national identity?

Being friendly doesn’t mean that we need to roll over and accept disrespect like that. And while I have no problem with Americans, if you support annexing us, even peacefully, then you can get fucked.

Sincerely, an unfriendly Canadian. 🖕🏻

It's not really that surprising they are upset when Trump is out running his mouth like this. Though, shouldn't be mad at the citizens. Should be mad at that idiot in office

Funny how all the really amazing comedians in Europe can't get a simple joke.

Its for the best, we dont need anymore welfare states. Besides all the good Canadiens just move to America anyway. Wayne Gretzky, Shatner, Neil Pert (RIP), Ryan Reynolds.

As a Canadian people like him make me cringe. He probs loves china and used to love Russia before the war. He also probs loves American music, tv shows, movies, and clothing brands.

My dad once taught me that there are always bad people, good people in every group. So I think these "Americabad" people on Twitter are the way they are is because they either have experienced some bad things about America before and they thought all of America and all of Americans are like that based on thier experience or they just mindlessly watched those "AMERICAN YOUTH ARE SO COOKED!!!!!!" Tik Toks and just.... believe it. Essentially, it all boil down to just fact that they are chronically online, believe everything that sound remotely legit and never question thier belief.

Okay but seriously though, my heart breaks knowing that not all Canadians are friendly like the stereotype. If I recall correctly, the guy behind that whole Mr. Swirl thing that happen in Pattaya is Canadian.
