Cops Kill inmate in Marcy NY

This is taking entirely too long to get facts and footage. They're trying to drag it out so it goes away

FYI this is one of many inmates who have passed away at this facility. For years locals have shouted and screamed at the lack of details and facts that don't add up about these previous deaths. More people need to be talking about this

https://www.syracuse.com/news/2024/12/body-cam-shows-ny-prison-guards-pummeled-handcuffed-inmate-during-fatal-assault-investigator-says.html

"The chain of events described in court papers by the investigator, Ryan Paparella, begins at Marcy prison on Dec. 9. His statement detailed the following events:

Brooks is first seen sitting on the ground near the prison entrance, the investigator said. His hands are cuffed and he is wearing a green shirt and a green pair of pants, he said.

Several corrections officers lift up Brooks and carry him toward the prison infirmary. Robert T. Kessler has his left wrist and Nicholas J. Anzalone has his right. David Kingsley is holding his feet, the investigator said.

As they walk away, Officer Nicholas Kieffer is seen shaking a pepper spray canister. It’s not clear in the statement if the pepper spray was used.

Brooks is next seen on his back on a medical exam table, the investigator said. Brooks’ shoes are removed by Anzalone, who then strikes Brooks with his right hand, he said. The investigator and court papers make no mention of any resistance by Brooks.

Kingsley and Anzalone are then seen holding Brooks in a seated, upright position. He is bleeding from the right side of his face, the investigator said.

Officer Anthony Farina lifts his left leg and strikes Brooks in his lower torso near his genitals, the investigator said. Anzalone delivers another strike with his right hand, he said.

Officer Christopher Walrath is seen grabbing what appears to be Brooks’ left leg. Anzalone and Kingsley use their hands to apply pressure to somewhere on Brooks’ upper torso.

Farina then strikes Brooks three times in the buttocks with his left fist, the investigator said. Anzalone gives Brooks a “sternum rub” in the center of his chest. A sternum rub is a technique to test an unconscious person’s responsiveness by rubbing their chest with the knuckles of a closed fist.

Officer Mathew Galliher enters with leg irons and applies them to Brooks, the investigator said. Kingsley is seen with his right hand on the front of Brooks’ neck as he lies back on the exam table, he said.

Anzalone and Kingsley then pull Brooks to a seated, upright position at the edge of the exam table. Brooks says something to them, and Anzalone delivers a closed fist strike to Brooks’ chest, the investigator said.

The two officers grab Brooks by the collar of his shirt and shoulder area, picking him up off his feet. He is forced against a window shade in the back corner of the room.

The officer wearing the body camera leaves the room. Time goes by. Anzalone, Kingsley and Kessler are next seen pushing Brooks into the wall. Officer Shea Schoff is washing his hands.

Again, more time passes. Brooks is next seen lying on his back on an exam table with medical staff around him, the investigator said. Anzalone, Kingsley and Kessler are also standing nearby.

Brooks is only wearing his shirt and underwear. It is not mentioned how or when his pants came off.

Brooks was later taken by ambulance to Wynn Hospital in Utica, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at about 4 a.m. Dec. 10.

How is hitting a handcuffed person different from torture? Obviously death is the worst thing that happened here, but why is it legal for anyone to assault an already subdued person?

I agree completely. Reports are coming out that they knocked him out and brought him back just to knock him out again. One of these COs is an unofficial youth hockey coach currently still with the team. There have been no consequences other than leave without pay. In the news feed social posts around here people are supporting the COs unsurprisingly. Rural area nonsense

They should go to prison.

So 7 officers named and apparently guilty. What's with the other 7? Firing innocent staff because they where simply on duty?

the video was just released. this is the most disgusting video I've seen of a police beating. you might wanna watch it

I watched it. Again, there is only like 5 maybe 6 people committing the violence. The state will be open to law suits galore if all 14 lose their jobs.

And please do not under any circumstances think I condone any of this. I would also be curious to know the events that lead up to this.

Standing by, witness to countless violations of policy at it's simplest. Unfortunately, things will never change inside these systems until they really figure out how to dismantle the 'brotherhood' of these institutions.

You can see how a few of the bystanders are uncomfortable, but the power of the brotherhood prevails. If they intervene, it is seen as an assault against the entire coalition itself. And the coalition makes sure that you understand what will happen if you waiver your support! In one small moment of trying to uphold human decency, you can be ousted and chastised in an environment that relies on the protection and inclusion of the collective brotherhood. CO's will retaliate using inmates and put you in risky situations. Bosses will retaliate with grueling job details and life becomes one giant nightmare of retribution. It's also why these institutions have a revolving door that is constantly trying to fill vacancy. People with any moral fortitude don't last.

I will guarantee right now, the brotherhood is locking arms together and telling newbies fear filled cautionary tails about CO's dying at the hands of inmates. How society doesn't understand what it's like in this 'world' and providing pointless tips and tricks to keep yourself "out of trouble". Meanwhile the bystanders of this incident are sitting at home wishing that they recognized it wasn't ever worth working there in the first fuckin place but hey, that's the price you're going to pay for the love of the brotherhood!
