Discussion Xbox cloud gaming on steam deck: do I need xbox live to play fortnite?

Gamepass (Which includes live) is only needed for paid games on Xbox.

So what should I get if I'm just tryna play games on pc and cloud gaming on my steam deck?

FortNite on xCloud requires no subscription.  Other games will require Gamepass Ultimate to stream on xCloud. 

Keep in mind, that a subscribed user gets priority in FortNite too if any long queues.  

You can also use Remote Play to stream games from your console to steam deck for free, if you have good upload bandwidth.  

Get Better xCloud addon for Tampermonkey extension for Edge Browser on Steam Deck.

Okay thank you! It booted me when playing fortnite so I wondered if I needed a subscription or not and google wasn't helping clarify lol

Thing is, xCloud is having issues the last 24 hours, major power outage for Azure South Central.  So that could be the reason you were having issues with FortNite.

To play games over the cloud you need Gamepass Ultimate

Even for free to play games like fortnite? Also is there a version for pc and Xbox separately or is it all the same?

FortNite is the ONLY game on xCloud that requires no subscription, COD Warzone or Halo Infinite will require Ultimate.  

PC Gamepass exists, but it includes no cloud gaming, you can use it alongside Nvidia GFN though.  

For Cloud Gaming everything else, the Gamepass catalog, and Buy and Stream selection, it requires Ultimate.
