Community Weekend Well after almost 5 years I can finally retire my old Elite 2 controller. Favorite controller I’ve ever owned.

Funny enough, I just replaced my ES2 two months ago that I originally bought refurbished in 2019 for $88 from Best Buy. Best 5 years I ever gotten from an Xbox controller.

Damn thats a steal. I got mine somewhere between end of 2019 early 2020. Paid around $200 after taxes from GameStop. Was a little bummed because when I got it home i could tell it was definitely an open box, but I’d say I got my moneys worth out of it.

Nice buddy! My wife grabbed me a design labs one I’m pumped to finally try one out!

I just got myself the same one. I got my daughter the white one since she had an old series 1 and my series 2 lasted about 4 years. I’m gonna check if Microsoft still offers warranty for the controller

Its a real beaut, still regret not getting one during the deadpool sale where it was on sale and came with free deadpool controller stand.

I see several negative comments about the quality of this control, I bought one like this 3 weeks ago, so far so good

I just replace mine after 5 years as well(stick drift). My inlaws picked the same blue base elite controller for me to.

I wish mine was like that elite controllers only last 1 or 2 years for me. Usually bumper or the grips mess up

The bumpers are pretty easy to fix. Just take off the front shell, put some iso alcohol down it and repeatedly push the bumper, then let it dry.

I’ve gone through 18 of them in my household of three Xbox’s in 40 months
Great controller when they work

18?!

Yes amount of times I’ve had to raise a return under warranty with Microsoft

Damn that’s crazy. Was it a new controller each time or were they “repairing” the old ones and sending them back?

Sometimes they where sending me used ones that broke again within a couple of months, really frustrating for my 2 kids who also use these, I reached out to Xbox support on X and someone there was really helpful, last few I’ve got they where brand new and I also didn’t have to send the broken ones back, have a pile of 6 of them on my home office desk that have some sort of issue, RB/stick drift - people on eBay offer stick drift fix for ps controllers for $10 but no one seems to want to fix an elite for a cost effective price - it feels criminal to just dispose of them!

Hell I’ll take em! Joking…sort of. That sucks they’d send used ones back.

Seems like people talk about them not working long term every time its mentioned. I still have my original controllers for all my xboxs and was just looking at the design lab option but the comments make me leery. I don't need a new controller anyway as mine still works perfectly

Just like anything in life, the people with bad experiences will be the most vocal about it. With any of these electronics from China you’re bound to get duds. A lot of people also don’t take care of their things then blame it on the item. If the Elite controller was really as bad as people on Reddit make it out to be, Microsoft would’ve been sued and had to do something about it years ago. Like what they did with the redringed 360’s, or Nintendo with the joycons.

Makes sense. I have never needed to replace a controller but some of these elite designs are dope. I may still get one soon then.

Still have my 2015 elite and good for the most part. Just got an Elite 2 and it’s going back for stick drift.

Bought an elite when they first came out, didn't last very long, bought my other son and elite 2 when they first came out, that last a couple months, NEVER again, 400$ and they sit in the boxes and yes I had warranties and sent them to be "fixed" but they always came back in worse condition, that stupid Walmart warranty company , nice to see others had better luck

Just to warn you, the core is made out of different cheaper plastic. It might not last as long as the real elite two controller.

I have the red one and it’s great, but I envy the blue. I only got red because it was significantly cheaper at the time for reasons I’ll never understand.

Same here omg I wanted the blue but the red was cheaper at target and only had like one copy left and my current controller at the time was basically done for . So I just bought it. I still don't understand why it was almost $30 cheaper

Yours lasted 5 years? I've replaced mine several times since it came out.
