How the hell did the teacher or school staff tolerate this lmao. My teacher would have told him to shut up the the second day and give a suspension the third day.

u/altcntrl North America đ Jan 08 '22
I think acting out is more accepted if itâs harmless.
I remember kids being sent home for dyed hair in middle schoolâŚbecause it was âdistractingâ.
All those dumb fucks retired and now acting out is tolerated with nuance.
122
u/Viking-Jew Jan 08 '22
Itâs also possible heâs a really good student during class so his âwarm upâ act out is overlooked because itâs actually pretty funny to hype up a class a lot of people think of as ânerdyâ
68
u/crispinoir Jan 08 '22
orr.. quite simply.. the faculty there is chill as hell
10
u/RealKingOfEarth Jan 08 '22
Itâs probably a private school with absurd tuition
30
u/HauntedCS Jan 08 '22
That's a drastic assumption. We had tons of teachers that encouraged students to get hyped up like this. Obviously there's a line, but it was a public school and lots of students would act out similarly, scream-asking how the teacher was. Not every public school teacher has a stick up their ass.
7
u/RealKingOfEarth Jan 09 '22
I was actually basing it more on price of his outfits and classroom size
3
u/Faustus_Fan Jan 09 '22
Do you think all public schools are filled with people wearing burlap sacks and being taught in broom closets?
15
u/Boodger Jan 08 '22
This is almost certainly the case. If this kid is acting this crazy for the rest of class, no way he is allowed to do this much longer. If this is simply his entrance, and is otherwise chill and respectful the rest of class, it becomes endearing to the teacher.

u/PM_ME_UR_AMOUR Jan 08 '22
As a teacher, Iâd join in. Hyping himself, me and the class up is a great start. Gotta remember the reason of school is to learn and love learning. You have to enjoy learning new things rather than what the topic is. Even a boring topic could be made fun if thereâs hype to it.
2
u/Viking-Jew Jan 08 '22
Totally agree! I was never so great at chemistry & physics grade wise in high school, but they were still two of my favorite subjects. I loved the topics themselves a lot (still do to this day).

Teacher here. No. This is not allowed. I donât need the class hyped up thank you.
5
1
u/Faustus_Fan Jan 09 '22
Also a teacher myself, and I would definitely allow this if it was the only "annoying" thing the kid was doing. It's harmless, adds a bit of fun to the start of class, and doesn't hurt anyone. Provided he wasn't acting out for the rest of the class, I don't see a problem here.
Hell, I have a student who comes in, every day, with a new "question of the day." Friday's was "Mr. Faustus, would you rather lose your ability to taste things or smell things?" We spent a few minutes at the beginning of class discussing it, then I went on with Shakespeare.
Being a teacher does not mean being incapable of letting kids have a bit of fun.

Jan 08 '22
This is how I prefer to parent.
Had so many stupid rules as a kid, so you learn to just ignore a ton of rules, if they don't mean anything why bother following them?
As a parent, I don't make pointless rules. If he's acting out, it isn't disrupting class, he isn't hurting anyone, then why start an issue over it?
1
u/altcntrl North America đ Jan 08 '22
Its inherited parenting methods from older generations that hate fun because thatâs how you die. Work and be super serious types and occasionally say âlook out for this guyâ.
I was told to be quiet and in trouble a lot for not being quiet so this resonates a bit too much with me.

u/beanieon Jan 15 '22
Yea they seem even supportive, he seems dedicated to doing it let him do his thing.

Heâs promoting excitement for the subject. If heâs otherwise a good student who doesnât interrupt class, i would bet top dollar that teachers love him

I teach Chem and I think by the third day I wouldâve started to cue up some music

At this point you're going to have to start class with "IT'S CHEM TIME BABY!!!" for a few days to make it so uncool that none of the students would be caught dead doing it.

My science classroom was technically a lab room so it had a door that would lead the room next to it. Every day I would walk into the other teachers classroom and say âwhoâs ready for scienceâ then I would walk into my own classroom and do the same thing.

u/Cosmication Jan 08 '22
My mans was just hyped to learn

I was this dude in calc, but I just walked in quietly... Different times, I guess. Makes me smile to see ppl be excited about science!!

My band used to do this thing in the morning where one person would just yell "AYYYYYyyyyyyyyyy" and hold it until everyone was also joining in. Like 350 kids just yelling a monotone "ayyyyyyyyyy" for 6-ish seconds. Apparently the vice principal came over and was trying to get people in trouble but there were too many of us doing it and it was harmless so they just couldn't stop us. After a couple weeks the faculty were just like okay it's team spirit, let's lean into it.
The band director tried to start it himself in the middle of practice one time when we were tired and not feeling it. After one half-hearted "ayyy..." from all of us we barely ever tried to do it again. Not sure if it was just teacher cringe or if it was secretly a big-brained plan but it completely killed it and we barely ever did it again.3

u/runaroundtheblockx Jan 09 '22
This was hard to watch lol. Listen here young bloods. If you are in middle/high school and do this type of stuff. Ya know loud, obnoxious, shit over and over again expecting laughs and praise youâre going to have a bad time. I used to be this kid. I had low self esteem, craved attention, and was very lonely. I just wanted to be seen and loved. But all I did was isolate myself with my over the top annoying shit, then I would complain about being alone or that no girl wanted to date ânerdy/funnyâ me. It wasnât until I finally realized that I wasnât because I was nerdy and funny, but because I was annoying and hard to be around and I was doing it to myself. Seek help, or get therapy if you are having negative thoughts about yourself or act out for attention; remember you deserve love and love will find you, you donât have to try so hard. But if you just like to have fun and joke around remember to have self awareness and understand that timing, and reading the room is important to comedy and charm.
1
u/DandyLover Jan 12 '22
Nobody seemed super pressed about it, so room was likely read.
2
u/runaroundtheblockx Jan 12 '22
He didnât read the room lol. After the first few times he did it everyone stopped reacting, other than rolling there eyes, closing their ears, or ignoring his presence. They may not be vocally upset but body language is what âreading the roomâ is all about. Itâs just uncomfortable and awkward to watch.

4

so what would it be?

u/KatanaPig Jan 08 '22
It's a kid having fun for 10 seconds of a day. That's it.
3
Jan 08 '22
screaming and attracting attention in the middle of a classroom? attwhore
3
u/KatanaPig Jan 08 '22
"Anyone who does anything that attracts attention is an attwhore"
You sound like a miserable person tbh, but you do you.
2
u/Oasis_of_The_Sand Jan 10 '22
Both of these sides are wrong, littlepea666 is taking an annoying thing and saying itâs making him an attwhore, katanapig thinka that itâs ok for him to scream. Personally if someone did that it would be so annoying. Imagine you go to class get Set up to every day here this guy scream for internet clout not caring about my ears
1
u/KatanaPig Jan 10 '22
Imagine giving even the slightest fuck about a 10 second disruption to your day. He also isn't yelling in anyone's ears and it's likely no louder than how loud it gets when everyone is walking in the hallway between classes.
2
u/Oasis_of_The_Sand Jan 10 '22
Listen put this philosophy into this. Someoneâs saying something to a friend they are all chatting then he just comes and screams. Iâm not forced to love him for just interrupting everyoneâs conversations. Are you saying if Iâm in a random store I can scream âRED BEEEAAAANNNNNSSSSSâ every day for over a month and thatâs ok?
I get itâs only 10 seconds, but itâs a joke if youâre saying someone can shout for 10 seconds every day.
2
3
Jan 08 '22
"Anyone who does anything that attracts attention is an attwhore"
Yeah, like screaming for seconds as you walk into the classroom is a little more than inadvertently drawing attention, but that's okay, you should probably do that too.
Thank God at least in my high school days he wouldn't do it more than once, not at the same school
3
u/ejpintar Jan 08 '22
I mean heâs not being an asshole to other people. If I were in that class I would find it entertaining and funny.
