At least five people were hospitalized, and one person is missing following a boat explosion and dock fire that rocked a marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

You can see a person fly through the air and land on the dock

It also looks like thereās a person inside the boat during the explosion. Just to the left of the fireball.

I saw a humanoid object land NEAR the edge of the dock. Are we still talkin' the same thing?

I think they hit the dock.. then fell in.

I see three people. The obvious red shirt. A guy on the dock in a white shirt. And a guy on deck who gets blown off the boat and ends up in the water. It's white shirt guy who stands up at the end, not the blown off guy.

Yeah to me it looks like he got blown off the boat, arms flailing, hits the dock right behind where white shirt guy stands up, then falls in the water right as white shirt stands up.

That's probably their missing person, and it doesn't look good for them. Can't imagine they were in any shape to tread water for even a few seconds after that.

How the boatās top half opens up and then closes in the same spot like a mouth is insane

My thoughts exactly... It's not like they're in the amazon rainforest.

Yea they wouldn't completely incinerate. Probably in the water but in a few pieces

Credit card captains.
ANY boat captain knows the importance of using the bilge blower before starting, during idle and damn sure during fueling, hell I always raise the engine hatch for extra safety.

I know three brothers that got away with burnt hair on head and arms from their boat exploding like this. This may happen from gas (e.g. propane leakage) or after refueling (gasoline), upon engine ignition, if the conditions are right, vapour and air may have an explosive mix and explode your boat. Whenever I fill up my boat (gasoline) I wait a few minutes, consider the wind, before starting the engine again.

Were they making meth in that boat?

Unlikely. You're more likely to get toxic fumes instead of an explosion with that. Also smells a lot and would get noticed.
More likely is a propane gas leak. Propane is heavier than air, and is often used on boats to cook.
Since it's heavier, it can fill the entire boat, then all you need is a spark. If you ever see someone on a boat bailing it out, but there's no water, they're probably bailing out a gas leak.
Tipping the boat over or opening a hole in the bottom would also work, but have undesirable secondary effects.5

They are literally at a fuel dock, likely not running the blower motor to clear out the fumes, and probably attempted to start it immediately after fueling.

Or a i/o engine leak.

Could be. Really anything that has fumes that could build up, but propane is the most common from what I've heard.

Does this sort of thing happen often? What sorts of standards are these boats made with?
