Not part of the ruling class. Just think weed smells disgusting and don't want it smoked near me. Fucks with my asthma too. That said, I am 100% for weed and want it to be legal everywhere and wish anyone who smokes it the best. Just please be respectful of others.
Interestingly, my buddy smuggled some really organic shit from Hawaii once when I was in HS, and that stuff didn't smell so bad. Does some of it smell differently, or maybe it was treated? I don't know much about it.
Different strains/ different flowers. You can get a wide variety of Marijuana, but people tend to do the good ol nose test of how skunky their weed is for judgement. You can have just as high, if not higher potency from something that doesn't smell as skunky
Potency, no. Effects, usually. As the different smells indicate different terpene profiles, and those absolutely change the taste and effects of the stone.
It is true. There is a science regarding it and plenty of medicinal cannabis strains are bred for their terpene profiles, which changes the scent and taste and also the effects the weed has on you.
Anyone that knows anything about chemovars will know this is true.
Your NOSE KNOWS what your preferred terps are 90% of the time. If you smell something and think "damn that smells good" it's probably going to hit really good. If you smell something and think "that smells like fish carcass" your body probably won't react very well to it.
Everyone has different preferences though... Some people like the cheese smell, garlic, fruity, woody, etc. I've had flower that smelled straight up like a bakery (Blueberry Cookies) and then some lady told me it smelled like shit later. š
The number of people who have tried to gaslight me that it doesn't smell like skunk is too large of a number. I can't tell if they are in denial or they have convinced themselves.
I'm with you. IDGAF what people do in their own homes, or on their deck chillin' in the summer, whatever. My big worry is drivers. Impaired is impaired, and I see so many (or rather smell so many) drivers that are actively smoking. Please don't do that.
This is tricky for me to decide on. While I agree impaired is impaired, you DO reach a point of tolerance where smoking weed doesnāt really do anything to you anymore. Most pot heads (myself included) donāt necessarily smoke to get high, we smoke as a habit, and it has the nice side effect of calming us down. Itās an EXTREMELY mild drug, when consumed by a daily consumer. I smoke and drive every single day, and have for the past 8 years, not even a fender bender. I only do this because I know Iām not putting anyone in danger. There have been times when Iāve been too high to drive, so I donāt drive. But my tolerance is at a point where smoking on some flower will not do anything to me.
Itās the same as having a beer at a restaurant, then driving home. Itās not illegal if youāre under a limit. A few puffs on a jay while Iām driving down the road is not enough to impair me.
BUT! All that said, not everyoneās brain chemistry or tolerance is at the same level. Similarly to how we all process alcohol differently, a few puffs on a jay would be more than enough to put my father into a comatose state lol. So what do we do legally? Probably better to eir on the side of caution and keep a blanket ban on smoking and driving.
If I catch a DUI some day I will accept my punishment. But morally, I do believe smoking and driving is an entirely safe thing for me to do, if I EVER thought I was putting OTHER PEOPLE in danger, I would never.
As someone who lost a friend to a driver who was high and thought they were "good to drive", this really upsets me to read. I really hope you someday reconsider your position.
As someone whose lost family to a driver who was high and thought they were āgood to driveā, I donāt drive if Iām not ok to drive, like I said. Weed doesnāt make you lose your mind and make you think youāre good, alcohol tends to have that effect, youāre able to discern how intoxicated you are on cannabis.
Even though you're catching some heat here, you make a good point re: limits. Legal BAC isn't zero. I'm willing to accept that some small amount of weed in one's system is still under a legal standard of impairment, but I still draw the line at smoking while actively driving. To me, that's equivalent to driving while drinking a beer, a thing no reasonable person would say is safe.
Ah but that too is dangerous because like I said, the smallest amount could put a non smoker in a state they shouldnāt drive in. Basically the end point being: know your limits, donāt put people in danger. Just like how you can drive on a beer or two, someone with a high tolerance can drive on a joint.
But about the actively drinking behind the wheel thingā¦ while I absolutely agree with you and itās something I would NEVER do, what would the difference be compared to having that beer at a restaurant and THEN driving home? Might even be safer because the alcohol has had less time to process through your body.
No. I hate that too, and it's even worse on my asthma. My asthma's not too bad since I treat it, but around smoke, it gets really bad. Luckily, it's not legal to smoke in public other than x feet away from buildings outside most places I go, and most people are respectful.
I know some people who hate weed smell, have asthma, and donāt mind cigarette smell. Theyāre idiots. But I figured Iād ask to see about this person too.
Personally, cigars are the worst of the bunch and even smell the shitiest IMO. Cigars just scream āpretentiousā to me, but thatās just me. I dunno. Anything you light on fire and inhale cannot taste āgoodā. I get people smoking cigarettes or weed to achieve the effect, but the whole āconnoisseurā vibe of cigars is just not in line with reality, IMO.
Anything you light on fire and inhale cannot taste "good"
Kinda dumb to say considering we use smoke to impart desirable flavors into food. It's not a huge leap for other combustible items to also have a desirable flavor as well.
I agree. I also agree that cigars smell awful though/. I can tolerate cigarettes but those smell bad too. I donāt mind weed smell at all. Weird how opinions work, huh?
Smoking fire is not the same as imparting flavor with smoke. For example, find me a single cigar that contains actual hickory in it. You wonāt. There are cigars that are smoked, like meats, to impart the flavor into them, but you cannot find a single product where people inhale hickory, mesquite, etc.
Iāll stand by my claim that anything you light on fire and inhale (while itās burning) cannot taste good. It might smell good.
In fact, when I quit smoking, I use a play off that. Since I was a cigarette smoker, I actually donāt mind the smell of them so bad, in an open area. I say ācamp fire also smells good, but Iām not trying to throw a blanket over the fire and start huffing down smokeā
