Boaters are going to start harming these animals, without a doubt.

43

u/Teirmz Jun 11 '23

Likely it will come to a head, maybe with some deaths, and there will be Orca death squads patrolling.

12

u/NinjaGrizzlyBear Jun 11 '23

"Fucka u wharle and fucka you dorphine"

Another South Park prophecy comes to conclusion.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

That's not going to work at all lmao, will only make them angrier

23

u/MutantCreature Jun 11 '23

Do not underestimate manā€™s ability to decimate wild animal populations, Jaws alone had a massive impact on wild shark populations that are only recently starting to recover.

4

u/guff1988 Jun 11 '23

Are you acting like humans are incapable of killing animals? There isn't a single species of animal on this planet that is impervious to humans. If people are committed enough they can certainly kill these animals.

2

u/bearrosaurus Jun 11 '23

As the number of orca killings approaches infinity, the probability that the killings resolve the issue reaches 1

9

u/Wear-Fluid Jun 11 '23

They have been harming them! Why do you think they are pissed off? They are highly intelligent creatures that can and do seek revenge

-1

u/AGripInVan Jun 11 '23

Well, there used to be a near symbiotic relationship (if I said that right).

My only fear on the water, even 1km out, is that I am incredibly vulnerable. My life depends on floatation.

The media has got me. I am having JAWS "PTSD".

I am now actually for firearms for boats. Never thought I'd say that. Either that or just nope it altogether.

I love orcas and dolphins and whales.

But if it comes down to you or Mr. McDorsal... what would you do?

11

u/lazerayfraser Jun 11 '23

sell your stupid fucking boat?

57

u/bigshern Jun 11 '23

Orcas are evolving into killer whales

Free Willy is back with vengeance!

10

u/Probablitic Jun 11 '23

He's back...and he's PISSED OFF!

65

u/CuriousOdity12345 Jun 10 '23

I just think it's hilarious that 8 to 10 orcas jumped them in the middle of the ocean.

86

u/pinkgreenandbetween Jun 10 '23

Kick flipped to Jesus. LOLLLLL

97

u/abatkin1 Jun 11 '23

Orcas vs 1 %ers. Guess where my allegiance stands

21

u/PublicThis Jun 11 '23

Dude, absolutely agree. If I had someone poisoning my house with garbage Iā€™d be pissed too

1

u/Picardknows Jun 11 '23

Well house if you mean the ocean then your house is the land. A lot off people are poisoning your house.

7

u/apreslanuit Jun 11 '23 edited Jun 11 '23

Itā€™s not just the 1 %ers though. I mean Iā€˜m with the orcas, itā€™s their territory but boat owners donā€™t necessarily have to be the richest people. A small boat costs as much as a regular car. There are huge differences in price of course. Thereā€™s also the possibility to charter a boat. I donā€™t like sailing but my parents did and they were teachers. Itā€™s a hobby that some people put their money into.

Edit: the boats in the videos were indeed quite big and expensive but I can imagine the orcas donā€™t just attack the bigger ones.

3

u/abatkin1 Jun 11 '23

I was referring to the fact they were on at least a 3/4 a million dollar sail boat.

30

u/JohnWangDoe Jun 10 '23

Based orca

25

u/Hey_u_ok Jun 11 '23

Mother nature's pissed.

Humans deserved it though. We're so destructive to our environment. I'm team orca.

31

u/Dude-from-the-80s Jun 10 '23

Lifeā€¦.uhhā€¦..finds a way

20

u/Oxydiz1 Jun 10 '23

The orcas declared war or they are trying to tell us to get the fuk out my lawn

7

u/jamesinboise Jun 11 '23

I hope they are organizing against us... We've fucked their shit up for generations on generations...

4

u/Americanski7 Jun 11 '23

Realistically, if the Orcas get too good at damaging ships, then the human response will be depth charges and hand grenades.

33

u/jcraig87 Jun 10 '23

Oh, no, rich yacht people have something to be worried about. What. a. travesty.....

1

u/Willing-Coach684 Jun 11 '23

Unfortunately they won't attack the richest peoples yachts bc they will be killed

-5

u/wattlewedo Jun 11 '23

Rich? My yacht cost $3500. You can buy a blue water yacht for less the cost of a Dodge Ram.

11

u/ragingkittens69 Jun 11 '23

That sounds affordable. Do you mind letting me know what the upkeep cost are for the docking, maintenance and what not???

10

u/pencilheadedgeek Jun 11 '23

The happiest two days of a boat owner's life are the day they buy it and the day they sell it.

4

u/wattlewedo Jun 11 '23

It cost me AUS$240 for club membership and $240 to keep on the trailer plus a couple of working bees per year. Boats kept on the water cost a bit more.

1

u/jcraig87 Jun 11 '23

I'm surprised your boat for 3500 isn't a massive money pit. Most at that price have so many issues that people are constantly putting money into them to the point it would've been cheaper to hey them new

1

u/wattlewedo Jun 11 '23

It was built in 1980 and pretty solid. The GRP hull had no problems but a few spiderwebs. In fact, most of the boats at the club were 'classics' and a few owner-built. People have older cars, that doesn't mean they're wealthy.

2

u/jcraig87 Jun 12 '23

Again, exception, not the rule

5

u/im_a_dr_not_ Jun 11 '23

Truth. I bought my yacht for ten nickels and a chicken.

4

u/kwasnydiesel Jun 11 '23

bought mine for a toilet roll and a half of beetroot

2

u/im_a_dr_not_ Jun 11 '23

One time, back when I was waiting tables, this older couple tipped me seven and a half yachts.

7

u/fortunatelydstreet Jun 11 '23

then youre middleclass yacht people, and we're still siding with the orcas

1

u/jcraig87 Jun 11 '23

FYI you're the exception not the rule lol

4

u/sirpandasquidly Jun 11 '23

I love how this video makes it sound like we as humans own the ocean and we are the only species that lives here and we aren't destroying the planet for our greed......

3

u/Sir_wlkn_contrdikson Jun 11 '23

Weā€™re in there home but theyā€™re being accused of disturbing behavior. Right

3

u/Otherwise-Past5044 Jun 11 '23

Humans fucking suck

8

u/juansinmiedo17 Jun 10 '23

Finally, some good fucking news

7

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

Now do cruise ships. Those abominations need to be retired permanently.

4

u/TruthSpeakin Jun 10 '23

HAPPY animals can fight back!!!

3

u/steevwall Jun 10 '23

Time to go teach some orcas the schematics of ships. Lol

2

u/Animegirl300 Sourcer šŸ“š Jun 11 '23 edited Jun 11 '23

I wonder if thereā€™s a way to design rudders or the bottom of boats to discourage them from attacking? Like, not anything actually dangerous, but maybe something like those little bird spikes they put on roofs now to stop them nesting or pooping, and putting them around the rudder area to see if theyā€™ll stop?

0

u/J_J_Plumber5280 Jun 11 '23

Someone pissed off Aquaman

-30

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

Kill them if they try anything, most of them deserve it. They do some sadistic attacks for fun on any species, they are essentially like humans except larger.

10

u/Thunderpuppy2112 Jun 10 '23

Why are you so angry with the whales?

6

u/wholesomehumanbeing Jun 11 '23

They are actually dolphins. Is it not weird?

2

u/Thunderpuppy2112 Jun 11 '23

They are of the porpoise family. Thank you.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23

I know they are like dolphins, I meant they are like people when it comes to hunting for sport, theyā€™re really creative.

-6

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23

Dolphins are pretty neat too most tend to be defenders especially of whales during shark attacks. Itā€™s just orcas man theyā€™re the bullies of the sea. Iā€™m not saying go hunt them, Iā€™m just saying donā€™t sit there and let them attack you. People fight back against sharks how are orcas any different?

7

u/wholesomehumanbeing Jun 11 '23

Orcas are exceptionally intelligent and family oriented. We had a great drama in Pacific Northwest a few years ago. A female orca had a stillborn and didn't leave the dead baby for days. It was an emotional rollercoaster for Seattle and Vancouver. They are extremely sensitive to engine sounds and pollution. If it's so loud in the ocean, they have a great possibility of stillborn. Orcas are our state symbol so i love them to death.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23 edited Jun 11 '23

Thatā€™s to their own species, they donā€™t treat other creatures that way. You could be intelligent and family oriented but still be awful. They are awesome and quite badass yes but they treat dolphins, seals, whales, sharks as toys even when unprovoked, they donā€™t even have to be hungry too. They do kill for fun. Just because there arenā€™t many reports of human deaths it doesnā€™t mean we are the exception.

4

u/wholesomehumanbeing Jun 11 '23

It depends on the species. Northern Pacific orcas only eat salmon as opposed to Atlantic populations so they don't kill other mammals. Every orca species has different feeding habits and killing rituals. I wrote a paper about Salish sea orcas a few years ago and they are just adorable creatures with a giant appetite like 20+ lb salmon a day.

9

u/dragon6layer Jun 11 '23

bro we will literally give you to them lmfao

1

u/confuseum Jun 10 '23

Free Willy!

1

u/MarBarzGaming Jun 10 '23

Common orca W

1

u/Different_Ad118 Jun 11 '23

So these orcas repping bloods or crips? Cause we already know they gangsta.

1

u/NitrousFueledDoorGuy Jun 11 '23

Nah itā€™s the orcas who was chasing that dirty rat seal who climbed aboard another boat for safety. Now they got a vendetta. They want the seal and we helped him now they hate us.

Please keep things civil, you're already swearing and name calling, even though no one has even said boo to you, which is kind of over the top. Chill, or you will be removed from the sub. Thank you.

-2

u/_perchance Jun 11 '23

dude. some people speak with conviction. we all have to speak together without attempting to silence. I swear as an emotional yet rational civilian

-4

u/_perchance Jun 11 '23

I say what I say to try to help preserve human life. it's important.

-7

u/_perchance Jun 11 '23

it's also a social learning issue with those animals... so there might need to be a big kill to eradicate the anti-human behavior. I'm just saying the tough facts.

-5

u/_perchance Jun 11 '23

we could always sit here and just say ooh ahhhh... and scroll on to the next internet intrigue... but at some point people actually have to do real work to help.

If weā€™re only at 43 reported attacks half way into the year does that mean we are at a better pace than the previous years with 197 and 207?

1

u/madbear84 Jun 11 '23

Weā€™re all cheering for you

1

u/xxXlostlightXxx Jun 11 '23

Good for them! šŸ˜Œ

1

u/TrollLolLol1 Jun 11 '23

But we freed Willy!

1

u/All_Rainbows_Die Jun 11 '23

fucking hell if the first thing I heard was: the idea of being kick flipped to Jesusā€¦. I immediately got the visuals of fisherman being kick flipped to Jesus and Jesus just being like oh damnā€¦.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23

It's not a "game" because there is a reward of sorts ... the boats are disabled and therefore cannot zip through the orcas' territory sometimes injuring them.

The benefit is right there.

1

u/Tamajyn Jun 11 '23

Comrade Orcas šŸš©

Being kickflipped to Jesus has to be the raddest way to die though.

1

u/Virtual-Squirrel Jun 11 '23

Cant wait to see those machine gun boats

1

Planet of the orcas

1

u/mitchdaninja Jun 11 '23

Orcastrated attacks

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23

Orcas tired of the human parasite

1

u/itsyobbiwonuseek Jun 11 '23

Giving me major Orca vibes.

And by that, I mean the old 70's horror flick Orca that featured a male Orca watching fishermen catch his companion and he seeks revenge on each member.

It's a hoot. 10/10

1

u/whatsURprobalem Jun 11 '23

Sounds like ā€˜military training exercisesā€™

1

u/HaveYouEverUhhh Jun 14 '23
