Off-Topic Very Quick Driver Change - They don't do them like they used to.

Before anyone asks, that's 1999 British GT Season and Sintura S99 GT1 powered by Judd GV4 4-litre V10. Drivers were Richard Dean and Kurt Luby.

Great to see someone knows cars from the British GT series of 90s.

I love those unicorns! Quaife R4, Harrier LR9 and RGS Mirage to name a few.

It's a bit sad looking at GT racing now where you can't develop a car yourself. Things have moved on and gotten waaaay more expensive, but it's just boring when all you can do is buy a car from a major manufacturer. Unless you've got tens of millions to blow developing and building hundreds of examples of your own car, of course. Even a privately developed 911 would be cool, but, nope, not allowed.

Have to agree on this. Privateers have been the backbone of GT racing as well as rallying for example. BMWs run in ETCC in the 70s were all developed quite independently by Schnitzer, Alpina etc. And of course the plethora of Porsches throughout the years, Kremer, Dauer, RLR etc. and rallying with Prodrive Porsches and M3s for example.
Not sure what opening GTE/3/D would be like for full-on privateers, but projects like Prodrive 550, Ginetta G55 GT3, Emil Frey Racing Jaguar XKR, Matech GT1 and Radical SRX GT3 show that there is interest from privateers too. I would love to see something completely out of the ordinary in WEC, IGTC or any other top category of closed-cockpit racing.

I think the most recent example is Reiter Engineering's KTM X-BOW GTX/GT2. That thing is insanely cool looking.

I thought KTM specifically asked Reiter to develop them, rather than Reiter doing it independently? Similarly to how the Bentley Continental GT3 racers were developed by M-Sport, Aston Vantage AMR GT3 by Prodrive, Cadillac ATS-V.R GT3 by Pratt & Miller, etc.

Maybe you're right, I'm not sure. Regardless, it's still a good example of a niche manufacturer producing a car in the vein of a top level GT car like the old GT1 days.

There were lot of homemade GT3 cars in before. I still impressive in S197 Mustang GT3, Ford GT GT3, Reiter Camaro GT3, and Alpina M6 GT3.

Came to ask exactly this. You are doing the car gods’ work. Thank you.

Wasn't as violent, but that's how they got Jimmer out of the Praga in that last race that they won.

Admittedly, the stakes weren't as high, but I still laughed when I first saw it.

First guy looked like he was trying to hang on.

u/RimsJobs Toyota GT-One #1 Nov 11 '21
He did, he manage to hold on to the car for split second. I wanted to zoom in on that too but that would ruin the flow of the video.

I’m happy they aren’t that quick these days.
It’s definitely an improvement to slow fuel fill rates intentionally and give drivers enough time to safely get in and out.

Actually, I think it was Jimmy Broadbent’s most recent BritCar video, someone rips him out of the car in similar fashion.

Damn, not only did the outgoing driver get tossed like Jazz from Fresh Prince, but the incoming driver got a quick hand job while getting strapped in.

Get in and out a CLK-GTR is very difficult, I can feel same sense for this.
