Has to be a write off, or near write off. Hopefully it can come back but considering it was at the N24 thanks to Marshalls paying their fuel bill, it’s doubtful they can repair the Logan.

That is a shame. Was always a laugh seeing the Dacia being passed by the leaders. They’re just talking about it on the broadcast feed.

They made a Instagram post saying the car is totaled. They wouldn’t be able to rebuild it and there are no engines for it available. They don’t know how they will continue but will update on their Instagram if they should keep racing in any way in the future.

My Disappointment Is Immeasurable, And My Day Is Ruined.

That is bad news to hear for those of us who enjoy seeing the Logan going round. Hopefully they can find a new project. It’s silly stuff like that which makes the N24 special.

there is one Logan of the same model available on Mobile, though that depends on what engine it comes with

No engines? For a Dacia Logan? In Europe?

7

u/Luko2912 Porsche 917k #23 May 21 '23

It’s not a Dacia Logan engine. Was a Renault Megan Cup or so if I remember.

It won't be coming back. The engine is damaged beyond repair and isn't made anymore.

The engine is damaged beyond repair and isn't made anymore.

Can't they just buy a 2nd hand one for £50 off ebay? It's just a Renault Clio lump.

thats what i was thinking, i see logans nearly every day in Brasil and i imagine its the same in Europe so it cant be that hard to find a second hand engine and chassis

They're used a clio cup engine which aren't that rare. I'm assuming building a new car is out of budget.

It is a write off.

In an ideal world, Dacia/Renault would jump in and help the team. The amount of free brand exposure they got every year with the Logan!

As awesome as proper race cars are, grids need cars with character, in this case the Manta Fox Tale and Dacia Logan, so I hope a new Dacia or something similar can return.

u/teslaluke May 21 '23

Maybe we can get the dacia sandero on the grid with james may as one of the drivers

The IMSA BoP was preemptive punishment.

Commentators just mentioned that the engine is no longer in production

14

u/SteveThePurpleCat Aston Martin Racing Vantage #95 May 21 '23

They use Renault Clio engines, there are currently ~500 available on Ebay.

Yeah, that doesn't change the fact that the Dacia Logan used Renault engines (the car itself is mostly previous gen Renault), and that there are hundreds still available. Unless ADAC has rules against not using the original engine?

There's even a K4M 8x for sale in Europe if they want to upgrade to a sportier engine from the Clio Sport.

u/ENI_GAMER2015 May 21 '23

They ran a Clio rs engine before iirc

1

u/Brno_Mrmi May 21 '23

They ran an actual Clio RS I believe

10

u/[deleted] May 21 '23

It's dead. Rest in peace.

u/danomicar May 21 '23

Is the driver okay? That car was absolutely mangled

13

u/Theteacupman May 21 '23

They said on their Facebook that he driver was ok.

Its weird that they question their commitment based on parts availability. There are thousands of Dacias still out there and still enough parts for Dacia/Renault products. Building a new car should be doable. If anything, the problem seems to be that they currently lack the financial resources to do so, which is completely understandable. I really hope that they can get enough donations or sponsors to build a new car.

Dacia Jogger with an Infiniti engine in it

6

u/Other-Barry-1 May 21 '23

Ootl, what happened?

A Porsche Rear ended him at a narrow part of the circuit. It was a weird incident. You can see the Dacia from a mile away. And it looks like he is already off the racing line. There's isn't just a lot of space there.

Onboard form the car behind: https://youtu.be/wflHaIFn3MA

The Dacia driver was taken to hospital for check up to his backside but was quickly cleared. He is fine.

The Porsche driver Lauren Heinrich was fined 3.000 euro by the stewards for "causing an avoidable accident".

There were a lot of top class drivers complaining about the Ams but to be honest they should know the risks of trying to overtake in tight spaces
