It has 3 plots and felt like it should have ended 30 minutes earlier than it did.

I had wanted to watch it ever since it came out because people were saying it was better than The Dark Knight and all that... So I went in expecting something real good. I finally got around to watching it 2 weeks ago and was sorely disappointed. My wife and I spent the first half wondering if it was going to get better, the second half making fun of it, and the third half wondering when it was going to end

The only good part is when Pattinson pretends to be a vampire as Batman in the way he acts as Batman. I thought that movie was boring too

Someone said they need some serious colour in that film. They are sick of dark broody depressed Batman.

I haven't completed watching it.

Dark and broody Batman appeals to the “sigma male” demographic so they can sell tickets to longtime Batman fans and 14 year old angst-lords at the same time lmao

I am sick of that trope, not because I didn't like it. Mostly because it is too much overdone at this point.

u/Yikesbrofr 21h ago

They also never seem to do it right. Hard to root for a protagonist who is nihilistic and jaded all the time for no reason.

Did you watch Endeavour TV series, on the life of young inspector Morse?

I wish they made more on screen men like this. Traumatized, introverted, awkward, and so freaking lonely without the dark billionaire trope. Though Morse IS a lot like batman, but I think in a more healthier way. (I am talking about the young Morse, not the petulant man child adult version)

I haven’t but I think I have a decent image in my head of what you’re saying. Might have to give it a go.

DO GIVE IT A TRY.

The cinematography, and stories, and the characters are so amazing.

I can't watch it. Because it triggers my depression too much, because I see myself a lot in him. 😒

Sounds good bro I’ll give it a go and let you know what I think

I mean, we could try a grey skivies and blue cape and cowl next time round. Lose the body armour, make it less dark, and more comic book-y.

Yes, super mid movie. Couple of cool action scenes, nice batmobile. Other than that, it had a basic ass plot, nonsensical at times, ran for too long.

the thing that stuck with me was how Wayne constantly dodges the mayor, who’s hoping to leverage his wealth and celebrity to actually help the city… but he’s more interested in brooding and beating the shit out of criminals. it’s an unintended and tone-deaf commentary on how society views the ultra-wealthy.

That’s the whole point.

He is a moody, out of touch, orphan who happens to be a billionaire with access to the resources necessary to be a vigilante. He is to busy trying to fix the city and deter the crimes that robbed him of his happy childhood through brute force to see the bigger picture and realize his methods won’t work.

It’s only at the end of the film that he sees the error of his ways. That’s why he has the whole monologue where he says “I’m starting to see now. I have had an effect here. But not the one I intended. Vengeance, won’t change the past. Mine… or anyone else’s. I have to become more. People need hope.”

The movie goes painfully out of its way to say “hey we get that punching bad guys isn’t the best way to end crime in the long run.”

This is actually an excellent articulation of why I hated the movie, beside the aesthetics.

I watch Batman because I want to watch a fun superhero movie where villains are beaten to a pulp by the hero. The rejection of that approach to the character, and the insertion of overly-progressive politics, made the movie an unbearable slog for me. If you’re into that stuff, I’m sure it was red meat for you. I’m not. And whether they know it or not, I think that’s why other people disliked it too.

The Batmobile was cool though

I think it's great. I love that it actually focuses somewhat on detective work and how Bruce philosophy changes over time. It was a little bit too long, but 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Significant_Cancel83 15h ago

I think it does the best job by far of playing up the detective angle, which was refreshing. I feel like it sort of lost itself at the ending by being excessively action packed. But the social media aspect was intriguing I thought.

Straight garbage.

Was a brilliant movie to watch, I watched it twice within 24 hours.

Loved how they made Batman a dark vigilante and having people scared of him.

The intro scene when he walks out of the tunnel is amazing alone.

1

u/BringBackBrothels 20h ago

Yeah it was terrible. You can’t beat the Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

1

u/Significant_Cancel83 15h ago

The Dark Knight Returns was terrible. This one is certainly better than that.

0

u/ActiveIndependent672 20h ago

Yeah People were actually saying this movie is better than nolan films.

3

u/batmans420 20h ago

It might not be better but it feels closer to the source material which is refreshing for a superhero movie nowadays

-3

u/CanaryResearch 19h ago

Unpopular opinion but source material isn’t the best for most superheroes.

1

u/batmans420 19h ago

That's fair. I am a comic book nerd, but I can see why people feel that way

0

u/BringBackBrothels 20h ago

lol that’s crazy.

2

u/steveishere2 19h ago

Disagree. It's the best Batman movie in my opinion, even better than Nolans Batman.

1

u/PersonSeenAtYourDoor 20h ago

I don’t think it’s boring but it’s a blatant ripoff of David Finchers movies. Se7en and Zodiac specifically. It damn near copies the dialogue in certain scenes

2

u/No_Estimate4810 20h ago

Ooouu I love those movies. Which scenes? I cant think of em

1

u/android24601 20h ago

Fell asleep watching it in theaters, and fell asleep attempting to watch it again when it got released on HBO Max. Maybe I just didn't "get" it

1

u/Significant_Cancel83 15h ago

Did you fall asleep watching other super hero movies? Like it's as good as most.

0

u/AllRightLouOpenFire 20h ago

It's boring as fuck. I couldn't finish it the second time around. I don't know how I made it through it at the theater.

u/Emcee_nobody 21h ago

I liked the movie, but I agree that the movie lacked a clear narrative. It also never gave the audience a reprieve from its sludgy, grim aesthetic, which is important in any piece of entertainment, IMO.

0

u/ScientificAnarchist 20h ago

I totally agree also Batman looses 200% and it’s somehow hailed as a victory like that city is completely fucked that’s not even a justice league job it’s a UN disaster

-1

u/ActiveIndependent672 20h ago

Yep a lot of people died in the flooding but somehow batman came across as hero.

0

u/ScientificAnarchist 20h ago

Did he I mean the riddler literally accomplished every goal even if he got arrested I mean look at hurricane Katrina and how much damage that did for a decade

0

u/friendo20 20h ago

Im suprised this Is an unpopular opinion I didnt bother finishing the movie and people just say dumb stuff like oh you just dont have an attention span no it just sucked I enjoy lord of the rings and thats 3 hours long haha

0

u/OreoPirate55 20h ago

It should’ve just ended with the riddler being caught. The rest of it served no purpose outside of massaging egos about how Batman is a symbol or some other bs

0

u/RevolutionaryTrack61 20h ago

I agree. My wife and I tried to watch it. I only made it half way through because I also found it very boring. It may be a good movie but it was just too boring to keep me interested in it and finish it.

-1

u/Ok_Sea_6214 20h ago

Saw it in the cinema. I made the mistake of taking a boring blind date, because the girl I was seeing at the time was great for making fun of stupid movies, we would have had a blast with this snooze fest.

-1

u/fuckfuckfuckfuckx 20h ago

Yea it sucked. Also drops are the stupidest drug I've ever seen in a movie
