General Discussion Playing TLOU2 for the first time Spoiler
Spoilers ahead.
So I’ve already been spoiled of what happens with Joel but I’m about 3 hours in now and I just reached the Tommy/Joel/Abby/Ellie scene and my god was it an incredible experience. I’m in shock. This is what I love about Naughty Dog: they just deliver.
I’ve been so anxious about playing this game because of how many people have hated on it but I’m so glad I ignored them and listened to those of you who stand up for it. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for me.

I knew what happened but didn’t know how and it definitely shocked me. There’s so much more to come with that game. It’s the most immersive experience. Glad you didn’t listen to people.

People who hated it only did it for sexist and homophobic reasons because their fragile egos couldn’t handle non-conforming identities.

Yep, the alt-right gamers had a panic attack meltdown online when they saw it and associated Joel's death as "the death of the white man at the hands of women, minorities and the LGBTQ" (not so blatantly, but that's what they were getting at). They talk about wanting good story over diversity, but have low media literacy regardless. Killing Joel made sense in context; it was only a matter of time until his past caught up to him. It kinda makes me wonder if Ellie's past will catch up to her...

So penguinz0 hating on it means he's homophobic? Yall are clowns and no better than your opposites. 🤡
Name me a video review you stand by
I sold tlou2 to a for sure gay chick on Craigslist. There's absolutely people who only support this game cause it supports their life style etc. And yall got your pitchforks at the ready only cause this game has gay characters. That's the fucking truth.
Yall wouldn't be here if this was just some zombies apocalypse game.

I'm talking about how alt-right gamers took The Last of Us Part II, and you're getting awfully defensive...

This is such an oversimplified take to an extremely nuanced issue. No, people that hated 2 did not only do it out of bigotry. Maybe some people did, but generalizing in the way you have is no different than the people you're complaining about tbh.
It's entirely common for people to not like sequels to amazing experiences. Hell, look at the star wars prequel's reception at launch. LoU1 was near perfect and 2 had a LOT of blemishes and very divisive plot devices. Killing off main characters and then making people play as someone they weren't meant to like, etc can be jarring for a lot of people. It was a divisive game.
This reductive statement from people that if you didn't like LoU2, it's because you hate women and gay people is so freaking wild and I genuinely wonder how you people don't realize that you're just demonizing people that don't agree with you because you can't stand that. Idk man.

People with stupid opinions get treated like people with stupid opinions. Simple as that. No matter how many paragraphs the haters type up, their argument boils down to a point as stupid and simple as “woman doesn’t turn me on so game bad”. Might not say a thing about attractiveness of the characters but it doesn’t have to. It’s just as bad of a take so we make fun of said paragraphs by giving it the respect it deserves. We don’t feed trolls, we give them the respect they give us.

So you're saying, no matter how many reasons they give as to why they don't like something, it doesn't matter because you've already made up your own mind on why they don't like it? Are you reading yourself right now? Lmao

Didn’t say that at all.

Chill bro if someone doesn’t like a game it doesn’t mean they’re a bad person.

Oh man it's as simple as that. That's the problem with these people and seeing them act like they can just put those labels on people makes me want to see anything they love get destroyed.
People fkin loved seeing concord get decimated and it's really not looking good for intergalactic. People won't stop until they're proven wrong that it's good. It's gonna get ruthless

This game exhibits incredible story writing. I'm convinced that those who didn't like it simply don't understand story development. Don't get me wrong, the story has some points that I thought were less amazing than others, but overall, I thought it was a masterpiece that complimented part one very well. I couldn't get over how fluid the fights and encounters were in this game. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I'm convinced that the most vocal with their hatred of Part 2 haven't even played it themselves. They were pulled in leaks, and several streamers they followed all jumped on a hate bandwagon. It never felt like it was coming from a sincere place of genuine criticism, and more blinding rage.

I had it spoiled too. The scene still almost made me cry because of how well-made and sad it was.

I played it too knowing about Joel, but damn i thought it was going to happen towards the end of the game. Not 2 fucking hours in!!!!! Really really surprised me

That's the correct mindset to have. Ignore the bad reviews if you wanna play a game you never know if it'll be on your top 10 games I was hesitant to play Tlou because zombies weren't really my thing but thank god I listened to myself!
You are in for a wild ride when you play this game. can't wait to hear what you think of the story when you get closer and closer to the end

Love this game so much. It’s a masterpiece. It’s brutal though! I thought it didn’t get more brutal after the Joel scene, but man it gets so harsh

There's a lot I disagree about the writing BUT I will say regardless it is still a really great story and I almost love it more than the first one.

I don’t want to reveal too much. But, when Ellie starts to talk about going to the Seattle hospital, loot everything. Especially fire related stuff.

That's what is most important! Playing the game for yourself and developing your own opinions instead of just hearing others and going solely off of what they say. It's fine to dislike the game, it's fine to like the game but, inevitably, the only way you can have your own view on it is if you experience it for yourself. I'm glad you're enjoying it! Have fun!

Wait, people actually hated TLOU2? I want what they are smoking. Only thing I disliked was having to orphan and/or kill dogs.

Ow damn I pity you
For not having played it sooner
So you would already know how terrible it is
Terribly moving and touching
With how bad the script is
Because it’s not longer

I was in the same boat. It still shocked me. Very well made scene. That is what makes good drama imo. Even if you know what happens, you still feel the emotions.
