End of an era, hopefully he can commentate for Super GT like he does SF. Wonder who’s gonna replace him in the car. Nismo might bring Chiyo and Takaboshi together again? They did reach 2nd in the standings 2 years in a row.

They might promote someone from the GT300 fold instead.

I remember hearing people talk about (I’m gonna butcher the name) Sacha F from Nissan formula E being mentioned

Yes thank you 🙏 I recall hearing a buzz that he would be offered a seat in SF and potentially replace Quintarelli

If someone were to replace Quintarelli, my personal pick would be Daiki Sasaki or Kohei Hirate. Daiki Sasaki because he was younger than Hirane and Hirate because he's 2-time GT500 champion. Sasaki and Hirate were unlucky with post-2017 GT-R lagging far behind LC500/GR Supra and NSX.

Of course there's always the nuclear option of bringing back Kiyoto Fujinami.

Nuclear option?

Fujinami was initially going to replace Kohei Hirate in Kondo Racing for 2023 season. However, rumours floating at the time suggested that Fujinami assaulted one of his team members (KF Motorsport) sometime in 2022. Nissan was able to confirm the news around mid-January 2023 and they decided not to promote Fujinami to GT500 before dropping him off their lineup.

It'd be stupid if Nissan decided to backtrack on their decision just because they have no one to promote. I don't even think Nissan will ever accept Fujinami again after that incident. So Fujinami's name will always be the 'nuclear' option.

There are still many great non-Japanese drivers in the series, I think SGT will still stay same in future if SGT doesn’t do any stupid rule like Japanese drivers only.

However, SGT should more care current Nissan because they’re in financial hard time. If Nissan is really out of SGT, that won’t be same.

in theory nissan is financially struggling since late '90s but at the moment its situation isn't that bad considering they managed to buy back from renault 5% of their own shares. SGT is an important showcase for domestic market, no way nissan will drop it considering its engine finally matched toyota and honda efficiency
