Mishe Mokwa, Backbone Trail to Inspiration Pont (San Antonio Mtns, 12/29)

First Trip Report Today (12-29-12) I did the Mishe Mokwa hike in the San Antonia Mtns. It was a pretty bad day view-wise, as there were thick clouds around almost every turn. It also rained on me off and on for most of the trip. I knew there was a good chance for rain today, but I had this hike planned for almost a week, so I decided to go for it based on the dopplar radar and satellite images for the area. The hike itself was pretty awesome; there were several short climbs interspersed with long, easy slopes. I am already planning on returning to this trail to get the views I didn't get today.

Great trail. Here's a detailed guide from an awesome site:

I'd gently point out, though, that it is in the Santa Monica mountains.

Yeah... I realized that this morning as I looked over my post. I did it last night after several drinks. Oops.

True, it is in the Santa Monica Mountains, not San Antonio. Such a great hike! If you get a chance OP should do the tri-peaks side trail as well. The views are really great on this hike when its clear out, but the cloud level is often right with you so its fun to hike around in the clouds.

I considered doing it yesterday, but decided against it due to the weather. It had been raining on me for a while, and I was pretty cold. Plus it the Tri-Peaks was completely socked in by the clouds, so there wouldn't be too much to see.

Sweet shots of all the fog! It must have been pretty unreal at the top.
