I used to be addicted to chapstick

I don't know why or how, my therapist said I probably used it as a "safety blanket" due to my childhood

It sounds so funny and unserious but I would literally have panic attacks if I didn't have my chapstick. I've even stole chapstick a few times because I was out and left mine at home, l'd be one of those rare people who actually uses the chapstick till the end. Also for some reason it had to only be Blistex Medicated Mint Balm

My lips are actually damaged from the overuse of chapstick and my lips have a hard time moistening on their own and constantly flake. I have to use a lip scrub every night to help get all the dead skin off

The addiction dissipated as I got older and did more trauma healing in therapy but l'm always hilariously reminded of it whenever I see people talking about how "you can be addicted to anything”

I have a bad intuition for larger distance measurements so I measure in crocodiles.

I think of a crocodile as 15 or so feet, that's because I'm so into crocodiles growing up on Steve Irwin and Coyote Peterson.

So, my front gate is about 2 crocodiles across the street from my neighbor's front gate.

Now, if we're talking inches, I happen to have needle point accurate intuition.

That time I accidentally did psychadelics

When I was about 13, me and my friend were pretty pyromaniac. We used to walk into the woods by his house and make little fires, which we’d extinguish afterwards, of course. We’d throw in random plants and sticks and we’d light them with his dad’s lighter. One day we went to a new ish area and found a really cool looking plant, and it was crunchy and rather dry, perfect fuel for us. We took about 4-5 flowers and threw them into the fire. They produced lots of smoke from what i remember and we were sitting really close. Turns out the plants smoke had psychedelic effects or something and when used recreationally, people usually burn one flower. (I’m pretty sure it’s used in traditional ceremonies or healing where I live) and we put in 4-5. Everything went blurry for a while and we felt weird, although I can’t remember too much about the trip, I remember it being both awesome and horrible, due to the amount of plants we put in.

I have never touched any form of drugs before and don’t plan on it haha

Also some of the stuff isn’t too clear so i could be wrong about stuff as it was ages ago. xd

I used to Nazi Salute every time I wanted pointed to something as a kid

In the 2nd grade, I pointed at something/someone (I can’t remember what it was years ago) and this one strict teacher approached me, and told me that whenever I pointed I had 3 fingers pointing back at me. It confused me a bit (why was I pointing at myself? Was I also guilty and deserved to be pointed at? How could I solve this problem? I thought like that back then and still sorta do) which caused me to take it literally. Next time something/someone fought my attention, I raised my arm, all 5 fingers pointed out (so none would be pointed at me, of course!) basically Nazi Saluting. I used this as my main method of pointing for an embarrassingly long time. The teacher was horrified, at the time I had no idea why and I ignored it, and I do not know how my parents weren’t called on me.

The absolute worst part about this: This was a Jewish school.

I watched my boss try to unlock their office door for a solid minute, only to realize they were using their car key. That brief moment of pure confusion brought me more joy than it should have

Helping someone out

I was really drunk, on my way home from a bar with my friend a couple of days ago. On the way home, we saw a guy who crashed on his bike. He was fine, except his feet were completely messed up, so he couldn’t walk.

Even thought it wasn’t an emergency like that, we called 911, because we didn’t know what else to do. They ended up sending a taxi, which would drive him to the ER. When the taxi came, we carried him inside, and he was very greatful and said thank you, which was what made me smile

I need feedback

It’s been almost 11 Months and I’m still thinking of this girl the I felt could’ve be the one. So I (24 M) met this girl (20) who I can’t stop thinking about even after the “closure” she gave me. We worked together for almost a year. Within that time we’ve flirted with each other etcetera there was a time she looked up at me like she wanted me to kiss her but I got in my own way. The time rolls around to the point where she puts her 2 weeks in and it’s her last day we both got off near the same. I ask to walk her out to her car, she agrees. We walk and talk eventually get to her car. I get ready to walk away then she invites me in her car we sit and talk then I eventually tell her I’m gonna miss her so much she says the same then I said how I’m also gonna miss flirting with her she says the same again. She says I can text her to hang out and she might be down because she’s notorious for not answering her phone for anyone. I say I don’t believe because of this but I’ll hold her to it. We get out the car she goes high and I go low. We hug and that’s when i finally feel the spark. We say goodbye. Halloween comes around I text and ask if she had plans she says yes with some friends. That was the last reply I got then eventually I ask her if she’d like to catch a movie I didn’t get a answer. A couple months go by and out of nowhere I get asked by a coworker “Did you ever have a crush on anyone here?” I say “no” to dodge the conversation. The a coworker the girl was close with says “I know who.” Then they say the girls name. I say “yeah I do.” Then they say I should keep trying to talk to her. So I do. Then just as I’m about to give up. I get constant TikTok notifications of the girl I liked is liking my TikTok reposts. I ask a friend what I should do he says try sending her a video or something I do then she blocks me on TikTok. Then I post on my Instagram story then she’s looking at my story now that she blacked me on TikTok. So I talk to her best friend and ask what I should do she says I should keep trying so I do. The girl told me where the address of her other job before she left so I decided I would like closure. I felt extremely uncomfortable showing up there but I needed a answer. I walk into her job it’s just her and one of her coworkers so it was the perfect to come in I walk in ask to speak with her she agrees. I’m super nervous that I was shaking after not seeing her for a while and showing up like that. I tell her “Ever since you left you’re all I think about and I was told by the coworker you were close with that you liked me too, I just wanted to know if it was true or not.” This wasn’t what I originally wanted to say to her but it’s how it came out. She tells me she was sorry but no it wasn’t true. Even though the coworker wouldn’t lie to me out of the blue for no reason. Maybe I was wrong idk, maybe she had someone else idk. But I literally can’t stop thinking about her and I just look back at all the pictures she took of us while we were at work. Maybe I dodged a bullet maybe I missed the love of my life. But I just wanted to post this story and see if anyone has some feedback wether positive or negative I need her off my mind. I got closure and still think about her. Why?

I used to hide under my desk in class

When I was about 13 I was a shy young lad. Sometimes when a teacher would assign partners to group projects I would hide under the desk untill it was over 😅 Also hiding under the desk during class downtime was a nice escape from the loudness of my classmates

I constantly lie about my age

Call it a midlife crisis, I look younger, I am running away from the cold truth or all of the above. When people say, "How old are you Dave?" I lowball them somewhere in the range of 7-15 years based upon how gullible they look. One thing I can HONESTLY say, I've never once told the truth when someone asks me this casual passing question. My question back to all you people who just have to know how close I am to dying is - WHY?? Are you reminding me? If I tell you the truth which is 50, will it change the dynamics of our interaction? I'm betting it will change the dynamics therefore let's go with I'm a young strapping lad of 41. Yes people have found out and say, "Yo you lied to me you said you were 43!" Instead of feeling bad it's a huge laugh in the end for both of us because the truth stands as it is. I look young as hell but truth be told I recently received my AARP card in the mail and I got SAD

It never happened.

I had the absolute most incredible first kiss. I’ll never forget everything about it. My family went to Florida every year. Inevitably, the teens in my family would connect with other visitors and all hang out. I thought I was so cool— said I was 15 to this cute guy I met and he believed it when I was really 14. At the time, I thought it was a huge difference as he was 15. One night, we decided to go for a long walk on the beach. At some point, our hands grazed and we were need up holding hands. The moon was full and spectacular over the waves. We stopped walking, looked at each other and voila. Best first kiss.

Only, we were both really shy. So, everything leading up to that moment- happened. There was no kiss. We did stop, stare for a moment…then when neither of us were brave enough to make that first move we just turned around and continued back. To this day, I decided that was my real first kiss. Lips didn’t touch, but to me, it was just as special. Do I kick myself to this day for not pursuing? Maybe. But do I have any regrets? No. And if anyone asks- that’s the story I give of my first kiss.

Real first kiss? A date when I was 5 to another 5 year old. Real first kiss at a reasonable age? Another dare..ish. To a guy I was dating but didn’t really like much. We were both really awkward and let’s just say there was nothing spectacular. More like— “glad that’s out of the way”.

So you, fellow redditors are the only ones who know that my real first kiss really sucked. Unfortunately, no pun intended.

Is there anybody who also did that?

A few days ago I remembered that as a kid I used to make up all the lyrics of any English song I heard, since it is not my native language. It sounded like English but it was actually my made up language and I sung it so proudly 🥲 and I can even remember some of the words now, it’s ridiculous 😅

I wear “flying” butterfly clips

A few months ago I saw a video of someone wearing these butterfly clips https://a.co/d/8RsXqaZ and I was in absolute awe. I felt such a level of happiness from seeing the way the wings move, it felt magical. So I absolutely had to buy them. When I did, it was like I healed a small piece of my inner child, by giving her a gift leaning into her mythical desires. Whenever I wear them I feel so much excitement and act as though I am a fairy ready to spread joy in the world. Many adults may think my choice in wearing these is silly, but my joy overshadows it. :)

My little sibling won't stop singing a song because of me.

I introduced my sibling to "Art of the Fart" it's a children's song...I think the subject matter is clear... but it basically discusses passing wind, using all different synonyms and making absurd comparisons while of course including the obvious sound effects in the symphony.

Now, whenever the little one has the chance, it is sung: at the table, out at the shops and especially when there is company. It's an anthem at this point...

I fully and gladly accept responsibility for her enduring love of it.

I am 35 and love watching cartoons.

Hi guys, I'm new here I was contacted by an admin I believe saying that they liked my post about watching Cartoons at 35.😜👍😁 So I thought I'd expand a little, I grew up in the 90's and 2000's after the Golden years of the 1980's classic cartoons

Thankfully tho we had re runs of a lot of shows from back in the day, and we also got lots of great shows in the 90's.

At a certain point in my late teens early 20,s I had kinda moved on from cartoons and was watching live action stuff, all until one day I watched Batman under the red hood.

Great Batman comic and animated film, I was blown away by how good it was wasn't meant for kids but. You could watch it as a teen and be ok with it, up until that point the only cartoons I'd watch were Simpsons and family guy South park.

The sitcom style cartoons that were more Adult fair, but it was Batman Under The Red Hood that made me rediscover my childhood love for cartoons.

I find them comforting more now as an adult, then I did as a kid, life can be rough we all know that so it's nice to sometimes go back to simpler times and enjoy a classic cartoon.

Like Batman or Scooby Doo whatever is your jam, in closing thank you for having me here in this group. 😁👍😜

Goblins are everywhere!

A weird one that, I myself, had made up to annoy/joke with my little sisters is when you can’t find something: You must ask the [object] goblyn to bring it back, or when something oddly nice happens thank you [domain] goblyn.

The silly lore was that invisible goblyns run everything, so their always listening… ALWAYS! Or, instead of the “tooth fairy” it was the “teeth goblyn” which (surprisingly) always got a laugh!

It started as a silly joke, but I find myself authentically doing it sometimes! Lol

So next time you can’t find your keys, ask the “finding my keys goblyn” to give them back! (60% of the time, it works 30% of the time!)

Ps: thank you for the mods recommending me to post this from my silly comment on r/askreddit!

Tl;Dr : I made silly lore for my sisters about goblyns that control everything, I admittedly sometimes still beacon their good wills!

Heard it wrong..

When I was around 4 or 5 I was watching the news on TV, the broadcaster says something about Garden peas making you pregnant. Well that's what I thought I heard. I was alarmed. I refused to eat peas for a long time after that, I would panic if I saw my mother eat peas and I was genuinely horrified when I saw a man eating them. I remember my family holding an intervention to try and convince me that I mis -heard the news.

A memory was unlocked today. . .

I once told a friend that germs and bacteria travel at the speed of light in an attempt to get him to stop asking me for a bite of my food. . . I was 7 and came from a household of medical professionals. I believed this until I was in my teens 🤦🏽‍♂️

This is very old but i thought of this today and it’s silly to me now lol

So when I was in 3rd grade I was in class and I moved on my chair and it sounded like a fart. Exactly like a fart. I started looking around hoping no one had heard it. Unfortunately for me the “class clown” had heard and he started yelling and laughing saying that I had farted and I was super gross. I started trying to explain that I hadn’t and what had happened and no one believed me. Everyone was starring at me and many were laughing. I got so overwhelmed trying to explain this that I started talking louder and louder and my voice was cracking. After about 30 seconds on this is was CRYING. Obviously it sucked at the time but it’s actually so funny that I cried over people thinking I farted 😆

When playing a game, I tend to take the options a bit seriously

What I means is, when I can choose something funny I pick the option that would be hilarious but not unhinged, and then when the scene gets serious, I try to be a “good” guy and pick the morally right options

I just simply can’t take over-the-top humor, much less choices that are cold or mean

Three very silly confessions indeed

I’m blind, and being blind, I miss a lot of things that are very obvious to people.

To start with, I had always heard that peoples eyes get red when they cry. Or they get red around their eyes. I had no idea what this meant. I figured that the salt water from tears made the skin around your eyes kind of red. Apparently that’s true. But it wasn’t until a few years into college that somebody finally told me that the whites of your eyes turn a little pink when you cry. And I’ve gotta say, that freaked me out. That just doesn’t sound normal or natural or like it should be a thing. When my friend told me, I laid back on the ground and I laughed until I cried. And then I got freaked out realizing what was happening to me.

Secondly, it wasn’t until Zootopia that I learned that a gazelle is not, in fact, a large flightless bird. I mean, how could I have possibly known that? Nobody ever described a gazelle to me. It sounded like a word for a big bird with long legs. And everyone said that gazelles are graceful, but I have no idea how animals move. How would I know if big birds are graceful or not? It wasn’t until some point in the movie, where they started calling Gazelle the angel with horns, that I realized I’d been very very wrong.

But sometimes, I simply do things or think things just because I’m dumb. Not that I’m always dumb. I’m usually very smart. But not too long ago, when I was talking with my friend about flowers, I said something about cherry blossoms coming from a peach tree. … No idea where that came from. I guess in my mind cherry blossoms were orange instead of pink, so I decided they were from a peach tree.
