Discussion Season 5. The facts. Is it coming?

1.4k Upvotes

No. It is not.

There has been no confirmation of Season 5 from any official, credible, or well-known source.

Do not believe everything you read.

There has been an influx of posts recently. An article is going around claiming that Sherlock Season 5 will be released in 2022. This is, as far as we know, not true. (EDIT: It's now 2024. It wasn't true.) There is no reason that some random small news outlets would get their hands on this, without any of the larger ones covering it. Nothing has been announced or confirmed by the BBC, the writers of the show, or the actors.

Please don't share links that you don't think are credible sources. However, we do look at reports, and we are removing any links that are posted with fake claims to Season 5.

If Season 5 is ever announced, there will be a stickied post, just like this one. It will be regularly updated with all new news, what we know, popular theories, etc. However, that day may never come.

Thank you all for keeping the subreddit as active as possible. Keep on posting your fanart, theories, memes, cosplays, and discussions as much as you like! :)

Discussion Subtle details (all eps)

What might I have missed? What are your favourites?

For instance, the "telegram" from CAM at the wedding, an advert featuring that serial killer guy behind Eurus as the redhead flirting with John, the various different hues of Cumberbatch's eyebrows... whatever you want lol.

I think one I recently had sprlled out to me is that in TBB the young Chinese lady talks about how her brother came to her flat pressuring her to find a stolen item and in the next scene Mycroft is there at 221B doing the same thing! Clever! 😆

Discussion American accents in Sherlock. Spoiler

Is it just me or do the so called "American" gangsters featured in "A Scandal in Belgravia" sound nothing like Americans? They sounded more Irish to me.

As always, right around mid-afternoon on Christmas Day, this starts running through my head. Thank you, Mycroft and Mark Gatiss, for putting such a perfect finger on that feeling.

Discussion Why didn't sherlock realise it was a cab driver until so late in the aired pilot?

The title basically. I was rewatching the sherlock official aired pilot and the unaired pilot and in the unaired he baisically knew it was a cabbie from the start. Why didn't he know in the official. He even went up to the cab and harassed the passenger. Considering all the victims were driven and sherlock had access to the exact same information in both episodes why didn't he know?

Discussion Young Dr Watson

So me and my SO were watching the 1st ep of sitcom Black Books and who should be playing the unnamed doctor that treats one of the main characters but a young Martin Freeman.

Without actually bothering to research it, the timelines would probably basically make sense for it to have been a young John haha. Mildly amusing!

Discussion (Spoilers) Molly S2E3 -S3E1 Spoiler

This has probably been said a million times, but as someone new to the series and fandom:

OMG I FEEL SO BAD FOR MOLLY WHEN SHERLOCKS FAKES HIS DEATH FOR TWO YEARS!

Not only not having him leave for an indefinite period but having to lie to everyone including the police and watch them grieve, especially John and Mrs H! So traumatising!!! Omg!

Imagine the therapy sessions: "well I'm pretending that my friend is dead and that I personally laid him out and watching everyone be utterly miserable and him be maligned in the press..oh and I'm in love with him but it's unrequited and I don't even know if he's straight or what..."

Discussion Sherlock Audiobooks?

Hi all,

Other than the original source material of course.....does anyone know of any books/audiobooks that have the air of BBC Sherlock? I'm a sucker for books that delve into the friendship between Sherlock and John.

Of course, fanfiction is great for this, just wondering if anyone knows of any officially published works that have the air of BBC Sherlock/ pay specific attention to John and Sherlock's friendship. Thanks!

Discussion I'm a gossip, sorry not sorry.

If you're famous or hate gossip or have strong moral principles in general, don't bloody read this. 😅😅😅

If you ARE a gossip, a few questions about some claims I've seen made on this sub. And any more you want to add.

Why do some people say that Cumberbatch and Freeman hate each other?

Why do some people say that Freeman got really sick of the gay shipping from fans?

Why anything else? At least reference to evidence please lol, what subtle details have people observed as it were?

On the understood basis that most people probably don't even know what's going on with our own lives, let alone those of celebrities, and I wish them all well.

Also apologies if this is considered wildly inappropriate! Please don't block me!
