I don't come across many songs about self harm, but I tend to relate to songs about self harm and find them comforting regardless of genre. So do you guys know any songs you'd recommend?
Update: Hey so thankyou guys for all the recommendations :D I'm trying my best to look at all of them and I really enjoy all the music you guys have brought to me. This is about the most up votes I've gotten on a post lol, you guys are amazing, I'm glad we can have a community to relate and share with rather then bring eachother down :] .

Does anyone know any good songs about self harm? I'd honestly love to add more to my playlist, especially if they're scene/ hyperpop (like rebzyyx, etc...)

i was just wondering if anybody could help me find some characters (from manga, anime, books, videogames, series, anything) who canonically self harm possibly if the theme is clearly talked about and not just left to the imagination (for example it’s not just the author that reveals it in interviews but it’s the character who talks about it in the story). the only ones i could think of right now are charlie from heartstopper and blade (kinda?) from honkai star rail. i really really wish there was more representation in the media, almost nobody talks about it.

I am looking for some lesser known songs about self harm. They can be any genre.
I've heard a lot of the more "popular" songs like I Deserve To Bleed, Ghost, etc, and Icon For Hire is my favorite band and they do a lot of songs about self harm, but I need some new music

Looking for heavy sounding ones, I am well aware that I could have just googled it but I think it's better to get stuff like this from real people (Edit) omg thanks so much I've made a playlist w most of these on it so now I've got smth to hate myself to :D

I usually listen to music while doing it, as it kinda keeps me calm to prevent further impulses. do you also do that? if so share! I could use some more music. For me it’s either ‘Poison tree’ or ‘Put me in a movie’

It doesn’t have to be the most depressing/sad song you know, just a song you listened to frequently during your worst. For example, I have three songs that I listened to during my lowest points. Cartoon People by Billie Marten, Headache by Rigby, and I had gay sex with god by Juno Lev. (I know it’s a silly name but the feel of the song really resonated with me at the time) Feel free to drop more than one, or a whole playlist. I’ll let you know what I think of them if you’d like. Best wishes to you all ❤️

anyone have any show/movie recommendations that have self harm in them? preferably on netflix, but others are okay also.
r/selfharm • u/Coqai • Mar 25 '24
Or it can be a song that you interpret as a self-harm song, even if it really wasn't meant to be like that.
Mine are:
Baby don't cut, by Bmike - when i first heard it i couldn't stop crying and listened to it on repeat, it still makes me extremely sad when i hear it. but i still love the song so fking much. definitely listen to it
Ghost, by Badflower - not gonna lie, did cry when heard it too, but it made me feel listened to as it's song about suicide, but also it can be interpreted as a self-harm song
I Deserve to Bleed, by Sushi Soucy - it's mostly about body dysphoria and hating your body to that extent that you want to ruin it
Serotonin, by girl in red - the name speaks for itself
Breaking the Habit, by Linkin Park - it's about breaking the clean streak and relapsing with addiction
Tattoos, by Citizen Soldier - this in particular is especially about self harm and it's about scars and upbringing them, telling wearers to not be ashamed of them. thanks to the fact that the singer was trauma therapist so he writes EXTREMELY relatable mental health songs and this one in particular slaps. every single word from this song slaps.
the first two are my favs to be honest

"how to never stop being sad" by dandelion hands is so unbelievably relatable. What's in your playlist?
r/selfharm • u/shamesword • Nov 25 '23
For me, its Sabaton - Father.
