STOP POSTING THIS I'M BEGGING

TWO THINGS.
-"Is this sh" "does this count as sh" "am I valid" STOP, PLEASE. If you do something to HARM yourself, it's considered sh, no matter if it leaves a mark or scar. If something hurts you on ACCIDENT, so WITHOUT the intent to harm yourself, it's not sh. Keep seeing posts like "I accidentally stubbed my toe is this sh", "I accidentally cut myself with paper", "I relapsed tonight but does it count as sh" stuff like that, stop, holy shit. Some sh may be 'worse' or 'less bad' than others but a relapse is a relapse.

-"Clean for 2 mins", "I did it again :(", with a screenshot of a 'clean' app showing 2 minutes or even some seconds. "Clean" doesn't mean you didn't sh for an amount of time, it's hoe long you've been TRYING to stay clean. If you relapsed 2 minutes ago, NO, YOU'RE NOT CLEAN. If you relapsed 2 hours ago I PERSONALLY also wouldn't call it clean. I haven't sh'ed in over a week, but I don't consider myself 'clean'. I simply didn't sh because I didn't have the time nor equipment, not because I actively tried to keep clean.

Now don't come at me, these are MY opinions, I'm sorry if the way I said it made it seem like it's some kind of rule.

People know it's sh they just want an entire community to validate them personally. I know that sounds selfish, but people need that type of reassurance.

It's because like 90% of the people on this sub are teenagers and as we all know, whether they like it or not, all teenagers are inherently annoying dumbasses lol.

i totally get what you mean but i feel like people who are new to sh need reassurance when it comes to it being valid. i’ve experienced that and i had to see a ton of posts about this topic to believe that i am valid.

in general i’d say that even though these posts debating whether people’s sh is valid or not can be annoying to users who’ve seen them many times but there will always be new people who need reassurance to ultimately stop feeling the need to go deeper or do more. i know you and others know that all sh is valid but there are tons of people who don’t.

I get it. But people are seeking comfort and reassurance so they don't feel alone. So the 'is this SH' posts are just people trying to feel less lonely. Try see it that way. I'm also tired of seeing people asking for these posts to stop because it will never achieve that, it's only creating conflict in a community that's meant to help each other, even if the answer is no, that's not self harm. Be kind always, we never know what the person behind the screen is going through. Just my opinion though, like yours, is valid.

It's no use, I've seen several threads like these. Unless the mods do something other than making a tiny section about "what counts as sh", it's gonna keep happening.

Oh my god, thank you for that second paragraph. That’s exactly how I feel and I get that exact same frustration whenever I read “clean for X minutes” like no… that’s not what being clean is you literally just harmed yourself 😭😭

This subreddit is for helping eachother with the struggles we’ve all been through, celebrating achievements for one another. Not some kind of competition on how deep they’ve cut or how long (or short) they’ve stayed cleaned for 💀

No shit but you're not celebrating anything when you've just cut yourself 4 min ago 💀 or an hour ago. As OP said, if you're not actively trying to stay clean but you just haven't had the urge or the time its not really fighting the addiction of sh, because that's litterly the whole point of getting clean. And OP mentioned that's it not a competition, and that people need to stop saying how deep they've cut.

Oh GOD yes. Especially the second point- people ask me a lot how long I have been clean for and when I say I’m not clean, they then ask when the last time I sh was, and when I say I haven’t for a week they say I’m clean 🤦‍♀️

I think this is a way for people to try and validate their own pain, wanting someone to recognize that they’re suffering. I’m not saying this as a critique, these situations are really vulnerable...
