Races: Lower Potomac River Marathon on March 11th, got 4th overall!

awesome, congratulations!

u/rnr_ Mar 30 '18

Nice BQ time, you should pretty much be guaranteed entry into Boston if you want it!

2

u/rahulabon Mar 30 '18

Great job on the BQ! I'm in the 3:05 bucket ATM too and taking a break chasing that for a year...so fast!

  • Monthly March Miles: 68.1 miles So much improvement from my Jan and Feb. Feeling like a real runner lately

  • 5K PR at 31:29

  • 8K Shamrock Shuffle in 49:41

  • Distance PR of 7 miles

March has been a good month. I'm working on nutrition. Nearly complete with half marathon training. Can't wait for April!

End of May actually. I wanted to be able to run the 13 once before the real race to take the nerves out. So the plan is to do that as an easy training run solo, then taper a bit before the "real" race

  • Monthly: I will finish out with 337 miles after tomorrow's long run. I should have been above 350 but I had some missed runs again because of weather and a weird hip pain. I'm on track for 3500 miles this year but not sure if I will hit it. I have a few vacations I need to take and not sure if running will be feasible there.

  • Elevation: N/A. I live on pancake

  • PR/PB: Nothing new besides a few segments I did well on

  • Races: Nada this month besides 43 miles in a time challenge I did

  • Injuries: Hip pain. I could feel the bone moving in the socket. A few days off and it is back to new now.

  • Etc.: pea milk. Yeah, trying something new for a recovery drink and this crap is NOT working. It tastes like grass clipping water. I felt beat up after my runs this week. Going back to Lactaid instead.

3

u/Daltxponyv2 Mar 30 '18

That's pretty stout considering you guys basically have been living with Santa and the elves for most of this month.

2

u/Octopifungus Lunatic Robot Mar 30 '18

Thank you. Luckily it seems they are heading back to the North Pole now

4

u/Daltxponyv2 Mar 30 '18

"Vacation is over, get out!"- The North East

3

u/Hooch_Pandersnatch Mar 30 '18

Interesting about the pea milk... I've never heard of that. What are the supposed benefits?

Have you tried just regular chocolate milk as a recovery drink?

3

u/Octopifungus Lunatic Robot Mar 30 '18

The pea milk had the same amount of protein as a glass of milk (8 gm) so I thought I would try it. I drink Lactaid (lactose intolerant) now but find it terribly sweet so was hoping to find a good replacement. I have tried their chocolate version but it is even sweeter so bleh.

2

u/secretsexbot Mar 30 '18

Nice! You've been killing it with the mileage this month.

Thank you!

Overall great month, I had a vacation in there and I missed several runs just getting burned out with no races in sight. I itched the scratch of doing Triathlons so in march I got my bike and began that in the last week, it's given me motivation to keep training hard.

My Mileage go forward will be roughly 30mpw as I need to focus on the other disciplines as well.

5

u/YourShoesUntied Mar 30 '18

I like your "Confirmed/Pending". I might steal this for future posts.

3

u/Daltxponyv2 Mar 30 '18

For sure. Life happens all too often, especially with 2 kiddos, so I figured it was safer to not over inflate my stats to the only people who might actually care about my running, lol.

7

u/josandal Mar 30 '18

March was pretty disappointing, I'm not gonna lie. Travel got in the way a couple times. I tried to go out and do a big key tune-up run...and got absolutely crushed and only did half of it. I feel like I saw a bit of a trend of most road runs I did trending a lot faster than they had in prior months, without putting in any more effort, which is nice to see. Still, that pep hasn't really extended to longer outings, and I had trouble really nailing anything substantial. Anyway, here are some numbers for the month, with some guesstimates for tomorrow based on what the plan says I will run and where I am inclined to do said run.

How far you run, Forest, run? 212mi --projected based on 24 tomorrow (probably about 30 miles short of what it should be according to the plan)

Do you even climb, bruh? 29,975 ft --projected based on an estimate of 5k or so tomorrow though I also note this doesn't include the mountain I snowshoed up in NH for some reason since I can't find that on Strava...that'd add another 3k

( still, this is close enough that I'll probably just figure out what's necessary to hit 30k even and make sure that happens tomorrow, so we may as well round up)

Run Fast? No, no races, sad panda. I volunteered as course sweeper at one, but did not race any.

Get hurt? Not too bad. I've been watching an achilles thing and an ankle thing closely and have dialed a few runs back to baby them a bit to try and make sure I get through training and get to race day in one piece.

What's upcoming?

This weekend is the end of normal training and then I freefall into a taper for a couple weeks, then race Apr 19/20. Then I'll probably be doing some sleeping and hiking for the rest of April before I start to really even think about running much again when I get to May. Not counting the race, I expect April to be the lowest mileage month for me all year. Normally that'd be the summer months, but I was stupid and signed up for an August race, so I'll need to train in the summer. Whether the race distance itself offsets the lack of running in April that a taper and a recovery causes...I have no clue. I feel like there may be a tipping point there when it does, and everything will be OK (assuming I finish the race, otherwise I just find a table and flip it). If I had to prognosticate, I'd guess April numbers will be about 170 mi + 20k ft of vert once I include the race.

  • Overall monthly mileage: 75 GOAL - 90 DONE (+ 8 mile run planned for tomorrow). I'm proud of this but it seems to have backfired on me a bit this week. I ran 3 and 4 miles respectively the past two days and both SUCKED. Like, legs heavy, lethargic as heck. Not sure if my body is asking for rest or what.

  • Yearly total: 194.5 on the year. I'm aiming for 1000 with the bulk of miles in my marathon training May-September.

  • PRs/PBs: A random mile PR at 7:38. I kinda want to actually see how fast I could run a mile now. Also PR'd my treadmill 5K at 24:04!

  • Injuries: Right shin splint acts up now and again. Have to be diligent about stretching it and foam rolling.

  • April Forecast: I have a lot going on in April, like my birthday and a 10 day trip to Colombia. 85 mile goal will be a bit tight. I signed up for my first ever 10K on the second day of my vacation in Colombia, too. It was a total whim but myself and two of my best friends will be tackling it together!

7

u/chweris Mar 30 '18

March miles: 184, looking like 196-ish when all said and done

Yearly miles: 566

Total elevation: Not enough

Races: Shamrock shuffle 8k, 33:52

Days until marathon: 23

Starting taper soon! Can't believe I'm wrapping up this training cycle already! March was the month of life events: wrapping up thesis, graduating from grad school, so I'm just happy that I was able to get outside and keep my streak going through all of that!!

1

u/TPorWigwam Mar 31 '18

Congrats on your degree and good luck on your marathon!

7

u/rennuR_liarT Mar 30 '18

Overall monthly mileage will probably end up around 120 or maybe a little more. About 30 of those were with the jogging stroller.

Overall elevation climbed will be about 11,000' or maybe a little more. Disappointing.

No PRs, but I did race a 5k and ended up with a 20:09, which is probably my third-fastest 5k ever.

No injuries. I'm starting to ramp up mileage, hoping to be at 160 next month, so I tried to take it as easy as I could this month.

6

u/docbad32 Mar 30 '18

Mileage: Currently sitting at 208, but should be adding at least 35 mile to that over the next two days.

Elevation: Currently at 21,244 ft. but should be adding at least 8,000 ft. over the next two days.

PRs: Set a new PR in the 50k along with a new PR in weekly elevation gain.

Races: Ran the Sierra Vista 50k and beat my best time by 45 minutes.

Injuries: IT band seems to be behaving, so far...

Etc.: Climb Week! This week I decided to see how much climb I could get in the time I have. Currently at 12,723 ft, with hopes of adding at least 10,000 more by Sunday. Hopefully.

3

u/josandal Mar 30 '18

Climb Week! ... Currently at 12,723 ft, with hopes of adding at least 10,000 more by Sunday.

This is at least one of:

a) Genius.

b) Inspiring.

c) Terrifying.

If I wasn't about to start tapering for my spring race I'd do this sort of thing myself. I'll have to keep this in mind for May when I'm back to running and can be a bit more cavalier about my training.

2

u/docbad32 Mar 30 '18

It’s been pretty fun. It’s just hard because I’m so slow. Highly recommend.

2

u/Octopifungus Lunatic Robot Mar 30 '18

8,000 ft. over the next two days

Damn! You are amazing Doc

2

u/docbad32 Mar 30 '18

Thank you, kind robot.

2

u/rennuR_liarT Mar 30 '18

Climb Week! This week I decided to see how much climb I could get in the time I have.

This is a great idea. I'm definitely going to find a good week in April and do this myself.

2

u/docbad32 Mar 30 '18

It’s super fun, but time consuming when you’re a slow poke like me.

2

u/rennuR_liarT Mar 30 '18

Luckily there's a pretty decent hill right out my front door.

5

u/midmoddest Mar 30 '18

Overall Mileage: 110 mi as of today, adding 6 tomorrow. Kind of back to normal! Yay.

Overall Elevation: 5742' (seems low).

No official PRs or one-off PBs but damn, did my pace drop after cross-training through injury. I'm actually doing a tiny bit better than I was before I got injured. My easy flat runs are now in the ~10:00 mins/mi range and my hilly runs are under 11:00 mins/mi with a lot of sub-10:00 mins/mi downhills. I was a full min/mi slower at this time last year and my flat runs were half a min/mi slower in November. I'm bragging waaay too hard about such a minor thing but I feel good about myself, okay.

Races: Didn't run any. Signed up for Mt. Summit Challenge next month.

Injuries: I was 100% healed from my groin strain by the beginning of March but still a lot of weird aches and tightness, especially with cold weather. Thankfully I haven't noticed anything in that specific area in the past couple of weeks, so I guess I'm fine? Now my knees are rebelling, I think from the damp weather because they don't bother me while I'm running, just random pings here and there when I bend them in certain ways.

Late spring is my most hated running season. Moving on! I think I stand half a chance at age group placing at Mt. Summit Challenge again but I probably just jinxed myself. Going to keep base building and maybe add in some speedwork next month when I feel 100% good.

6

u/VinLi11 Mar 30 '18

Monthly Mileage: 226.4 after today, will add a few more tomorrow

2018 Mileage Total: 714

PRs: Half marathon of 1:42:56 on a slightly tricky course (NYC half). Previous PR was 1:47:29 set just 2 months prior.

Etc: This month consisted of 2 taper weeks, race week, and recovery week, so my mileage was slightly lower. Set a PR, so it was well worth it. I have my next goal race in sight in a couple of months, so I will be really ramping up the training in April. If all goes to plan, April is going to end up being a 300+ mile month. Trying to hit a 1:40:00 half in May!

6

u/rnr_ Mar 30 '18

Overall Mileage: I'll probably end right around 240 miles.

Elevation: 7,684 ft

Races & PBs: None

Injuries: Some nagging things that I can't seem to get over. Started some new foot-related exercises this week so I'm hoping those will help. Also, right shin hurts today after my tough tempo run last night...

Overall, this month has been a very good one. I've been getting in some great long runs and hitting most of my workouts as well. I did have a failed tempo last week where my legs were just dead but, other than that, they've been great. I especially liked my tempo from last night, 7 miles at 6:38 min/mile pace. Supposed to a marathon type effort so I might've gone a tad fast but it was a great effort.

I'm hoping to hit 270 miles in the month of April and get a bunch more solid long runs / work outs in.

4

u/Hooch_Pandersnatch Mar 30 '18

Overall Mileage: 221 miles (assuming I stick to my planned 8 miler tomorrow morning)

PRs: 3:30 in the Woodlands (Texas) Marathon

Races: The Woodlands Marathon

Injuries: None! In fact some of my lingering injuries have finally started going away.

Other: I was on vacation for two weeks in Asia. Still managed to stick to my running plan and cover nearly 90 miles while abroad, while also walking a TON during the day.

Next Race: Flying Pig in Cincinnati in May.

2

u/Octopifungus Lunatic Robot Mar 30 '18

In fact some of my lingering injuries have finally started going away

This is good news

4

u/awesomeCC Mar 30 '18

Overall monthly mileage 150 on the dot.

Overall elevation Regularly hover in the mid 200's, but a mountain race took me to 2,558 in one day which was pretty rad.

PR or PB's? Strava says I had 4 segment PR's, none in races.

Races/events you ran A crazy rugged super technical very hard 30k in the mountains then a big city st. pats themed 8k that I can do in my sleep because I've done it for 6 years straight.

Injuries Currently have a cold

etc Annoyed that my Pegs 34 are a hair more narrow than the 33's. I'll suck it up until they're done as they aren't actually hurting me, but onto a new brand after.

6

u/RunOnThinIce Mar 30 '18

Monthly Mileage: ~140 mi by Sunday

Injuries: Some pain on outside of right foot last week. Eased up for a few days and seems to be gone now.

Etc: First month I've ever cleared 100 miles! Fitness continues to improve, workouts are getting easier, and I've stayed consistent with the plan I'm following. Excited to run some races the next couple months and see where I'm at before the marathon training cycle begins in June.

March Goals:

  • Complete Phase 2 of JD Blue Plan -- yes (with small deload that involved missing one workout)

  • Stay Healthy -- mostly yes

  • Increase long run to 80 minutes -- yes

April Goals:

  • Long run over 10 miles

  • 2 weeks over 40 miles

  • Stay healthy

5

u/secretsexbot Mar 30 '18

March was badass. I had to take a couple easy days due to an over-stretched hamstring, but I managed to keep my miles up, get enough sleep, do semi-regular strength training, and find time to pick up a new hobby. Stats (including planned runs tomorrow):

  • 345 miles

  • 6116 ft elevation gained

  • I'll set a nice 5k PR tomorrow!

  • I did a couple shorter ultra training runs, and tried to do an overnight long run and failed utterly. Did 19 of a planned 40-50 miles because I was just too physically exhausted and couldn't make myself continue. Came back with 30 the next day though, and now I know something I need to work on.

  • Some aches, but nothing major. I had to alter a few PT exercises because they were too much for my current level.

Oh, and I also passed 3000 miles run in the last 365 days. Right now I'm at 3134 miles in 355 runs over the last year. Pretty damn proud of that.

3

u/purepajamas Mar 30 '18

Overall mileage: 175

Elevation 8750 ft

No PR or PBs.

I ran the NYC half, and I am running the Naked Prussian tomorrow in PA. I signed for the 50 miler.

I fell down a week before the half, bruising and scrapping both my knees.

Etc? I got a Fenix 5 watch. Do I need it? Probably not since I am the slowest ultra runner. Actually, maybe that's why I need it. So I don't have to re-charge mid run.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '18

Goal race: Coeur d'Alene 70.3

Monthly mileage: I'll be over 70 after I run 3-4 off the bike tonight. Overall satisfied with the month, I kept my mileage pretty stable and increased my quality quite a bit.

PR: I clocked a 21 min 5k last Thursday, then a sub-20 5k on Tuesday during a track workout. That's the fastest I've run a 5k in over a decade, since high school. Very cool to see the consistency and speed work having an impact. These were both in the middle of my workouts so I wasn't even time-trialing or attempting to run this distance.

Injuries: Plantar fasciitis set me back earlier in the year so my monthly volume isn't where I want, but I'm getting there. With help from the doctor my symptoms are almost gone and I'm still running 3-4 days a week. I try to always be thankful in times when I'm not hurt, because I know how miserable injuries can be.

Great month overall. I probably added too many quality workouts this month, so I'll try to keep that a little more under control in April.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '18

I am so impressed by how many miles people run in a month.. I wish I had the time!

Monthly Mileage: 41.3, about to go make it 47.6 with a Saturday morning run!

PR: 1:56:28 in the NYC Half, now getting ready for the Broad Street Run which should be easy compared to that Half course. Though I'm planning to slack a bit since it's more of a fun run for me

Actually not injured for once in my life, but had some toe nail issues post half that forced me to take about 5 days off. We're back in business though!

4

u/mini_apple Mar 31 '18

Overall mileage: 167 miles, bringing me to 409 so far for the year. Had a training run of 25 miles and came out of it feeling fantastic, which was a nice confidence-builder.

Injuries: Recurring Achilles tendinitis has been creeping back in, on occasion. We're in the maintenence phase.

I'm feeling really optimistic about my first 50-miler this April. It's probably gonna be a shitshow, and I'm super excited about it. Ready to get this show on the road - and then, to start thinking about the rest of the year.

Monthly Mileage: 375 miles

2018 Mileage Total: 950 miles

Monthly Elevation: 13,000 ft.

2018 Elevation Total: 46,000 ft.

PRs:

  • Longest training run @ 87 miles (19h:53m)[moving time]
  • Highest monthly mileage of 375miles

Races/events: None

Injuries: None

Etc:

March turned out better than expected. It ended quickly and I wasn't ready for it because I've been running. Like...a lot! After tonight's run and tomorrow's planned long run I'll be sitting pretty with a nice new monthly mileage PR that I've been hunting for, for a while. I'm still on my mini-quest to keep a 10+ mile a day average and with the occasional shorter run, most days are hitting that mark. I'm well on my way to surpassing my 2018 mileage goal of 3,000 miles. At this rate, it'll be close to 3,600 miles or more if I keep doing what I'm doing. I had originally planned on running a race this month. A 24 hour timed ultra on a track down in Tennessee on St. Pat's day but the RD cancelled it leaving me stuck with a good bit of training and nothing to do with it. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and do my own 'super long run' which turned out pretty well. The original goal was 101 miles on my own. It turned into a long 24+ hours on the paved path with many friends stopping in to shuffle with me. I called it quits just before 90 miles for various reasons but it was definitely worth it due to the other races I have this year. I've spent a ton of time away from home in the last few months putting in all this running and since I'm not fast, it tends to take a while. With April on it's way in, things might slow down a bit on the running front. With my wedding at the end of April, I'm gonna be focused on getting other things in order but I'm still throwing down some bigger runs because I have an addiction problem with running! Streak run is still going strong at 1,216 days now. The weather is finally breaking here in Indiana and Spring is in the air. That means allergies and sinus infections are on their way. YAY!

Ready to party! Bring it on April.

I definitely won't be able to hit 400 in the upcoming months due to my schedule and races I have coming up but a 400+ mile month is definitely in the plans for sometime this summer when I'm free. I'm also looking to put in a 140 mile week at some point. Anyways, it's just a matter of repeating a month like this and tacking on one more long run. Shouldn't be too hard.

And YES! All of the races I have this year are shots to hit 100 with exception to one. I've got a local 12 Hour event coming up in May where I'll be shooting for 100k. Then a 24 Hour event in June where I'll hopefully get 100. Then this fall I have (2) 100 mile trail races. One in Oct and the other in Nov.

Hitting 100 days is one of those things you'll remember when you streak run. Good for you! You're right around that time when it becomes a full on habit just to go out and log a mile or two. It should be almost natural now. I kinda miss those earlier streak days when you're still new enough to it and trying to figure it all out. Enjoy it while you can because eventually you'll find yourself at 1,000 and wondering if you really are crazy! lol

3

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '18

[deleted]

2

u/YourShoesUntied Mar 30 '18

The longer the streak, the crazier the stories about getting in that one mile run! lol

Thank you!

3

u/purepajamas Mar 30 '18

Longest training run @ 87 miles (19h:53m)[moving time]

Amazing! I struggled doing 26+ miles solo runs. You are an inspiration, man!

3

u/AirquoteRunner Mar 30 '18

March Mileage: 55-70 (I ran a few workouts on a treadmill and didn't record them) Elevation: 7660

Overall, I large improvement over last month as I enter the final few weeks training for my Darkside Challenge weekend at Disney (5k, 10k, half). When I came off of surgery in January, I'll admit I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it. My coach has done a great job not only getting my body ready, but my mind as well.

3

u/ThePsion Mar 30 '18

Overall monthly mileage: Sitting at 150 right now. Have two runs planned this weekend, somewhat dependent on schedule which I'll do on which day. So that will go up, just not sure to what. Either way, my biggest month ever, and third in a row to be so, as well as over 100 miles!

PR: Set a new Half PR at 2:13:XX

Races/events you ran: Ran the VeteRun half in Summit Point, W. Va., with my aunt!

Core/stretching: I've rolled every day, and that has helped a lot. Added in massaging with a The Stick to really work the knots as well. This was the second month in a row I did squats, next month I'm going to switch to pushups, hopefully that goes well, but I'm apprehensive.

Training plan: I hit every run on my plan except one, due to a getting a hot water replaced and waiting for the plumber. I was able to add in a few extra miles here and there, but still left me 6 miles short. I'm okay since it wasn't a long run that I missed, and I'm even proud of myself for being (almost) okay with not hitting 100% of my training runs.

Etc: Mentally this month started okay and went downhill pretty bad. I worked through some of it, still working through a lot. But hey, that's what running is for for me, so onward I suppose!

3

u/bark_bark Mar 30 '18

Assuming all goes according to plan on Saturday, I should wrap up March with 195 miles. This kind of bums me out because I had two really down weeks in the middle of the month due to work travel and if I just squeezed in one more 5 miler, I could hit 200. That will now be my April goal. BUT, my run tomorrow will push me across the 500-mile mark for 2018, which I'm elated about. I don't think I hit 500 miles last year until June or so.

Elevation was decent for March, at 7,400+ (+ because more tomorrow). I did a bit more trail running this month now that the ice is melting so that helped push that number a bit.

No PRs or PBs or races. But I did have a lot of happy runs this month. Things are just feeling really good and I'm feeling strong and healthy. I spent two weeks in Austin which helped break up some of the cold-weather blues I was having up here in WI. It was nice to just run in shorts.

3

u/rahulabon Mar 30 '18

Overall monthly mileage - 157.8 + 9 on the schedule for tomorrow

Overall elevation - 4,023 FT - Probably only 150~ for tomorrows run

PR or PB's? PR for an 8k road race at 32:16!

Races/events you ran - As mentioned above, 8k race that I wasn't sure what I was going to hit. Ran one of the smartest races and actually had my last mile as the fastest. Did the same race in 2016 in my "best shape" but realized I was most likely over trained then.

Injuries - Started having some knee pain earlier this month but I have a half in a week so I've been playing it by ear. It's one of those "not getting better, not getting worse" situations and will definitely take a week off and rehab after the half

3

u/bp1108 Mar 31 '18

Overall monthly mileage - 141.1 miles. Most I've run since January 2016.

Races/events you ran - Ran my first 50k trail run! Prickly Pear Trail Run. Friend asked me 3 days before the event and I said sure, it's "only" 5 more miles past a marathon and a trail should be fun...... it was tough.

Injuries - Not an injury but I had surgery so I was out a week. But I still managed basically the best running month every.

3

u/rudecanuck Mar 31 '18

This month was a good one for me and running. Completely over achilles injury that dogged me late January and early February.

Ran 2 half marathons, including a 5 minute PB of just over 1:32 local Half marathon, and a fun destination NYC Half marathon.

Kicking it up into high gear for my May Marathon training, did my first 20+ miler of my training today.

Hit a monthly high for mileage with 222.6 Overalll Miles.

Overall monthly distance: 146km with 20 pending tomorrow. So 25 miles a week with some cross training thrown in to try and preserve the knee (see injury). About 10 miles less per week than I’d like

Overall elevation: who knows, haven’t found that info on Garmin connect yet

on another note this Garmin thing must have a stopwatch as well but I was unable to locate is thus far. Google is required!

PR or PB's? Yes, distance PR of 32km, 3 hours 40. Most painful run ever - my feet really hurt

Races/events you ran Milton Keynes half marathon - went for a PB and missed it be a few mins and my first ever 20 mile run at dorney lake!

Injuries: MRI on my ankle has shown a bone spur is present. We’re treating it non surgically first and leaving surgery as plan b if we can.

FYI the bone spur means my ankle doesn’t flex the way it should when I run, forcing my knee to move to places it shouldn’t to compensate. What this leaves me with is an incredibly tight aductor and pain in the inside of my knee when I try to stretch my hamstrings. While doc agreed I’m not doing any damage by running and wasn’t going to tell me to stop, that still means I’m in management mode as I have been to keep the pain at a low level. It doesn’t hurt when I run, only when I try to stretch out: I have my full marathon, the culmination 9 months of planning and training and hopes and dreams, in just 5 weeks so I really don’t want to change anything before that in case it makes it worse. Once the marathon is done. I rest and assess. At the moment I’m trying ALL OF THE SHOES as higher drop is in theory better for me knee in this case, I don’t think I’ve found my marathon shoe yet...

I also went to the track for a proper speed workout for the first time in 20 years. I’m slow and unfit for speed, but I’m in love. I do at least have the perfect 5k shoe which will work on track for now. Happy days

Thanks for reading, cookies all round

Overall Mileage: 127

Elevation Gain: 6,817 ft

Felt pretty good this month. Kept streak going of at least 3 miles every day this year. Mpw is about 25-30. No races, just building my base, putting in miles, and getting time on my feet. I plan on signing up for a fall marathon soon.

This month I went to Disney and only ran 1 mile every day because I was doing 30,000 steps daily. I came home and got a very bad cold immediately. Before I was over that, I did a 10 mile LR and had to get my wife to pick me up at mile 9 then felt terrible for the rest of the day. Once I was over it, I got some weird foot pain in the ball of the foot and was very paranoid it was a stress fracture. After a week or so, it randomly went away, and I think my new first-time Hokas helped.

All of those things contributed to many days where I just ran one mile, but it looks like tomorrow I will still hit my goal of 85 miles for the month and today was day 147 of my streak! So despite a tough month I get to feel proud of myself.

Overall mileage: 125.8 miles, if I get my full runs in tonight and tomorrow I'll hit 140 miles

Overall elevation: 1,793 ft, definitely need more hills

PRs: 36:31 in an 8k and 22:52 for a 5k during the same race

Races: St. Patrick's Day Run Fest 8k on March 17th, got 2nd overall for the ladies!

Injuries: Hips are a bit angry with me but not sure if it's running related, so just going to monitor that.

etc. Looking forward to April since I'll be running a half seeking a PR. Also going to run a race back at my high school to support a charity started by a guy in my graduating class, so it'll be nice to see how much the old stomping grounds have changed. Other than that, we're having a taste of Spring weather right now, and I am so excited for boating season!!

EDIT: formatting

After a like 6 months of not running, partly because of an injury, then after just not being motivated, last night I finally ran again and have the new wind to start up again! Looking forward to running in the parks again.

Also I realized when I run I get better sleep but also don't sleep as many hours but feel more refreshed.

Finished March with 143.6 miles (plus 22.4 on my bike trainer), a good amount higher than my normal ~90-100 mile per month average. Bump due to the long runs each week in preparation for Big Sur Marathon, just four weeks from today.

Just one race during the previous month, a four mile Shamrock Run appearance that I bolted on to the end of an 18 mile training day (I did 14 "warm up" miles before the race). Finished it in 32:02, not too bad considering how many I ran that day.

This tread is way too early this month. I haven't even done my Friday run (it is 8 am on West coast) and tomorrow is Saturday meaning a long run and a good chunk of mileage and vert. Why not wait 2 more days giving everyone a chance to finish the month?

Anyway, I'll probably get close to 145-150 miles and 25,000 ft this month.

Races: Chuckanut 50K which was somewhat disappointing because I went to the race with a cold. Still finished, but it wasn't fun.

Injuries: nothing serious that would make me stop running.

Going forward I am going to ramp up even more vert. I have two 50Ks coming in the next few months with 10K feet of elevation gain each, so I need to be well prepared for that.

Because I'm not around on the weekends and I wanted to get it posted for the community. I didn't think it would be an issue since it could also serve as a reminder for those not paying attention to their totals. Sorry I inconvenienced you.
