Daily Thread Achievements for Wednesday, December 25, 2024
Hey runners, it's another day and it is time to post your accomplishments you'd like to share - big or small.
Note: No need to preface YOUR accomplishments with something like, "this may not be an accomplishment to most of you...". Be proud of your achievement.

I ran 10K today at 54:22, this is my best time so far. I started running last December, after a valve replacement, so I consider it a huge win for myself, as I could never even run 50 meters before that

I was also planning for around 56-57, but when I was at 5K, I saw I could be under 55, so I did my best. Congrats to you as well!

Had a sub25 5K run after almost a year. Feels quite good to achieve that considering I was down with viral early last week.

I did a 5 mile run on Christmas eve, and then another 5 mile run today. Good, energetic runs. On my 4th mile today, it hit me hard how happy I felt to feel the freedom, energy, health, fitness of running a 5 mile as if it's just a small thing. I am so thankful for my legs and my fitness!

I signed up for a half marathon a couple of weeks ago, that's in October. I haven't run for years, but did a half marathon like 8 years ago. Anyway, I started running again and have done two 2.5m runs recently, only walking minimally. Amazing feeling knowing hey, I remember how to do this, my body can do this. Going to try to run a little longer every time, three days a week. It's brick out so mostly on the treadmill right now. It feels so good, and I'm really excited.

Love this! I’m also returning to running after 7 years and 2 kids since my last half marathon. Going for a half in the spring and a full in the fall 🤞

Ran 2 miles today, only my 4th run since August. But I'm proud of myself. New to this sub. Glad I found it.

I ran a 1:48 November 1st, said I’m ready, signed up for a local marathon on November 5th, and ran 3:56 on November 9th. You’re ready for a sub-4.

5k PB yesterday (smashed it), and I ran my first 10k on Sunday (OK, so I had a few minutes break at 7.3k, I'm still counting it).
Also, my (Garmin estimated) VO2Max has gone up from 28 to 39 over the last 6 months. Still pathetic, but now I'm in the bottom 45% of Garmin users instead of the bottom 5%!
All injuries recovered from, all lights are in the green and all arrows pointing upwards. Looking forward to running the rest of the summer.

I've been stuck at a 10:29 Mile (usually 6-8 in a session) for the last year and yesterday got after it and did it under 10! Feeling good. Happy Holidays!

Did my annual "12Ks of Christmas" out and back run. Got to the turn point 6k from home and my stomach made a threateningly unhappy gurgle. Fortunately I was near a hospital and they allowed me to use their facilities (perhaps the desperation was evident in my eyes).
Apart from that it was a nice run!

Almost went sub-25 in a 5k for the first time (25:34).... in the middle of a 10k
Which I finished in 53:40 which is a PB of over 2 minutes vs my previous, going to be doing another one this saturday and striving to get into the 52:XX!

Took a rest day because that’s what the plan called for. 800 repeats yesterday and an 8 mile tempo run tomorrow. Sixty-seven days till Tokyo.

Woke up this morning and decided to run my first marathon. My previous longest run was 32k. Today being Christmas gave me extra motivation. Running my first marathon before the year ends would feel like a nice Christmas gift. Everything went fine except the last 7km, which were just brutal. Finished in 3h 56min.
