Update Post 💔This is the disgraceful & appalling condition Mama Aeron & her poor kittens were in when transport was sent to finally pick them up today. I’m at a complete loss here as to how or why any shelter and its employees walk past her daily and leave her to rot like this. My heart is broken. NSFW

She is now blind in one eye and it will need to be removed. Her kittens died one by one in front of her while she suffered like this for days. The last kitten is clinging to life in the carrier right now, but won’t make it. Lillian was also left to rot & is now dead as were Dean Kim K Diana Panther Deets Louise Aleesha and many more who all needed emergent vet care. I’m actually too upset to write anything else right now. I’m sorry Lori’s Angels was kind enough to help her today. Please donate to them if you can. Thank you everyone. 💔🙏🏻

Update Post 🤍🕊️Update🪽Moonlight is gone. She did not survive the shelters neglect. More gross treatment & mismanagement at Devore. I will vent in my community not on Facebook.

Sadly poor little Moonlight, only 4 months old, was found lifeless this morning. After a stint in Devore shelter with an obviously severe URI, possibly Calici & who knows what else, she was rescued yesterday. Hopeful that she would get treatment and be on the mend by today, this was not to be. I got a sad call telling me what had happened. I don’t fault rescues when this happens, how could I ever, because I know full well the neglect they suffer in the shelters. Putting clavamox on their food instead of administering it? Maybe she got some maybe they took time to actually give it to her? By the look of her, no. Seen by a vet even? Doubt it. Look at her condition! This isn’t the first cat to drop dead after a day out of Devore either. All in different rescues. This is beyond negligence and cruelty. This was a beautiful kitten crying to live, crying for help and they didn’t care. I don’t understand how these people sleep at night. This breaks my heart. She was only a baby, now she’s dead. Nice work Devore. There’s a special place in Hell for these people. I’m sorry little one…I tried. Rest well sweet baby. Over the rainbow bridge you go. 🌈

Update Post This post is about Wishbone, The cat I posted about yesterday. My updates were getting lost in the comments so I wanted to make a new post. 🥺

This update below is from Friday evening August 9th, after six different vets gave the same opinion. 5 from the ER clinic and 1 from a different clinic.

❣️Unfortunately this is cancer/sarcoma, which I assumed since it is hard as a rock. I was really hoping for an abscess. this tumor is inoperable 😭 maybe when it was golfball size or just alot smaller in general then maybe surgery would have been an option just to buy her a little more time. this was caught way too late, it is affecting everything even her Jaw and she cant breathe very well. This decision is based on several vets seeing her today. The plan as of now is to provide her with zorbium which last 3/4 days and I will shower her with so much love over the weekend before I put her to rest. She has been living outside at a campground for SO long. abandoned by her original owner. she deserves to be indoors and loved on with a soft bed, wet food, and AC. I hate the outcome so so much and I really wish I would’ve known about her sooner.

Update Post 🤍🕊️Update🕊️Poor Anwen is gone. Please read her story below. Rest well sweet girl. I’m so sorry. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤍🕊️

With a heavy heart I share the sad news of Anwens passing. She was very special to me even though I never saw her or held her. When I saw her sweet face in the Devore network page I instantly connected with her. She had been surrendered to this high kill shelter by a thoughtless owner who said she didn’t get along with other animals. Perhaps they tried to re home her with no luck, who will ever know. In any case this beautiful girl had been torn from her home and everything she knew to be left to fend for herself in one of the worst shelters in So California. As a Siamese mix, her sensitive soul was deeply wounded and she sunk into a deep depression. Every Siamese cat I’ve ever had has been extremely sensitive and bonded with me, so I attributed these qualities to her also. I know had any of mine suffered this trauma they’d surely have gone into shock or been severely traumatized. I’m sure she suffered a broken heart that which she could not recover from. I asked Rita from BAR to rescue her so she’d avoid euthanasia since she had been labeled for behavior. We thought she would be ok once out of the shelter, but the depression worsened. Despite showing affection purring and seeming to slightly improve her eating habits declined. She ate barely enough to survive so was taken to the vet only to find nothing physically wrong. Thorough testing and Blood work showed nothing wrong with her. After a few more weeks she was returned to the vet with onset of jaundice. She was starving herself. The vet put her on a feeding tube to try to keep her alive but she didn’t want to live it seems. We are all very sad and feel helpless as to what could’ve been done differently. Maybe she could’ve been fostered or put into a different situation. We must assess and learn from her very sad outcome. Hindsight is always 20/20 though. I wanted to post her story and remember her I also want to share so people who consider dumping their pets understand how truly devastating it is for them. Some do rally and end up in good homes luckily. Others, like Anwen, aren’t so fortunate. We believe her little heart broke and she just simply gave up on life. Devore & AVAS are miserable, the experience traumatizes even the strongest of cats. So many come out a wreck. Sometimes It takes weeks or even months first then to decompress. While we understand there are not a lot of choices for rescue currently, we must try to find better solutions for situations like Anwens. I’m absolutely heartbroken over her loss. Mostly because I feel like I failed her. I know that’s not anything anyone except Rita or a few people that know me well can possibly comprehend. I’m hard on myself where rescue is concerned and this one kills me. So many “if only’s” flood my mind. I feel if she’d gone to a foster it MIGHT have been different. This is why fostering is so very important. Mostly please share her story and try to help people re home unwanted pets in any way possible. I wish things had been better for her. I’m so very sorry Anwen. Be at peace little one. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕊️

***do not look at photo in comments if sensitive to blood/wound

Well we caught her tonight. Had to be creative. Will take her to vet tomorrow but just wanted to update the kind souls who commented. I will likely ask for donations once I get verified because I just raised her kittens and took on a lot of expenses.

Thanks everyone for your words of advice. Hopefully it’s something that can be healed. If not, I’d rather see her leave this world loved than in agony. I think whatever it was ruptured since there seemed to be blood and pus.

I'm thankful to everyone who helped with his vet bill but Plori passed away today, just five days after being released following his catheterization. He was walking around for a bit, then suddenly collapsed. I panicked and rushed out at 1 a.m. to get him to the emergency vet, but it all happened so quickly. We didn’t even make it to the clinic before he was struggling to breathe. I found him as a kitten during Typhoon Florita, and now he’s gone at just 2 years old. He was too young. I feel like I failed him.

With a heavy heart I must share the sad news. Bellatrix was too weak and too much had happened to keep fighting. We are all devastated and want to mourn her loss before answering all the questions and fielding the anger against the neglect she suffered. We (RC & BAR & her hopeful new family) want to thank everyone from all around the world who have donated to help her. This was a beautiful tribute to her. Sometimes though it’s not enough. So we want to make it known that everything possible was done for her but she didn’t make it. Answering a ton of questions isn’t possible for me today so I would like it if we could just honor her with this post. Then talk about it later. Thank you so much everyone! This community is beautiful and came together brilliantly to help! Bellatrix was loved! Rest peacefully angel! I’m so sorry. 🤍🕊️

Update Post Update on the Senior Kitty

He tested positive for FIV and has severe stomatitis. He’s receiving steroids and antibiotics and if that doesn’t work , they mentioned a full mouth extraction. He is definitely a senior cat but I’m unsure of how old exactly. He is neutered, no chip. his bloodwork was all okay except he was a little anemic. The steroids over the past few days have helped his mouth thankfully. He eats really good(only wet food) He is still a little rough looking. maybe the combination of FIV & his age.

His name is Rougarou

Update Post UPDATE: Desperately trying to bring attention to a mother/son rescue team who **WILL** lose their entire rescue operation TOMORROW

UPDATE to this post! 06/03/2024

Thank you to everyone who has gone out of their way to look into and discuss this rescue.

There's so much going on right now with this insane kitten season and lack of funding everywhere I don't want to distract from the desperate situations in Devore Animal Shelter or Greenville, NC, or all of the individual users who are putting in so much ass-busting hard work to save their local babies and raise funds (special shout out to the people taking on the extreme cases with the ill and wounded several of these babies have been posted the last few days).

I'm going to update this post instead of making a new one as I haven't been in a position to collect what we need to verify this user and I want to respect the mods allowing us to have so much engagement and support up to this point already. I've not been able to engage much as I've finished up my family affairs this week but I've peeped the comments when I could; I'll respond to them all to let everyone know the current update.

Easy access link reposting to her insta

At the time of this update Afri and Sammy are $875 short for their second to last $2,500 payment on the cat house that was due May 27th. Last night they were at $910, so everything is moving very slow and doesn't look good.

The homeowners kicked them out of the house today. If they can raise the funds they should be able to get back inside.

There's been a lot of discussion of the homeowners/landlord and what u/Frequency_99 said in a response to a comment below is a really good summary of the situation she's in with them. With the current set up, if she can make this payment and the last one of $2,500 due June 27th then she'll own her home.

As for the rent payments and how the owners are constantly changing the parameters of the agreement really comes down to her location, Jakarata, Indonesia. Unfortunately everything the homeowner does is legal and if they decide to evict her she receives no warning, no money back, and no assistance in crisis housing/ re-homing. The other rescue I posted about prior had several nights where the owner kicked her out on the street and locked the house for days at a time until she could make rent, it's insane the conditions they have to put up with in her part of the world.

I've tried between the two of them to get as much local assistance as I can but they don't qualify for government help and I've put in applications for support with all of the global corps I can, most of them will fly out and verify in person in order to assist rescues like this, but time isn't in our favor on this one. A few rejections, a few non-responses.

The time difference is a good 12 hours, I'm not sure what the homeowners will say in the morning.

We're really hoping for a miracle on this one 🙏

________________________

I'm afraid this update is a bit grim.

It's still May 26th here, but for Afri and her son it's already May 27th and the deadline for her Cat House May payment.

The homeowner sent an updated agreement and said the house must be paid in two more installments of $2,500 one due May 27th and the second June 27th.

If they can meet this, then the house payments are completed come July and they are safe.

At this moment they are $2,271 short.

The house owner has said no exceptions this time around. With the law she will not be able to receive any money back. We are unsure of his response by the end of the day.

Please please go check out her page.

I should have updated this sub sooner like I promised. I had an immediate family member unexpectedly pass away in an accident two weeks ago and I've been in shutdown mode, not on any social media trying to handle things here. Not to distract from the situation at hand, just to explain why Afri deserves so much better. She reached out to me confused by my silence and I've neglected to be aware enough to help her until today.

I'm going to include screen shots of our conversations so everyone can see what she has to say, and the picture of the updated housing agreement. It's in Indonesian, if anyone is able to translate please do.

I know this is already a brutal kitten season for everyone and things are stretched thin right now. Please if anyone has any resources or can help, this family needs a miracle. ❤

Update Post Injured Mama cat update. We were told someone tried to strangle her with a rope over a year ago. Shes had an open wound since then. She is safe now, she has FIV, 2 rotten teeth, a tongue abssess, a neck absess. Built up scar tissue on her neck, a mass under the wound and she's just in awful shape. NSFW

I have to compose myself enough to make this post & it’s not easy. I feel so horrible and helpless when this happens…like I failed them. It’s just that we cannot keep up with the absurd pace these trappers are dumping them off at Devore. All I can do now is urge this shelter to join in others efforts to block these intakes. Many shelters have now closed their doors to feral cat intake and begun to embrace TNR again in their communities. Devore must follow suit in order to stop this senseless practice of killing healthy yet homeless kittens and cats. Unfortunately it will only get worse before it gets better. I urge everyone upset by this to join in the effort to end shelter intake of trapped stray and cats. This is the only way to make it stop. I’m sorry everyone, I’m so so sorry. Rest easy little ones. No keys only broken hearts and many tears for all 3 of you.🙏🏻💔🙏🏻💔🙏🏻💔

As hard as we try to find rescues to save these kittens & cats it can be nearly impossible when they are all full now. So with very few adoptions there are little to no spaces opening for these poor cats. Unfortunately yesterday was another very sad day for the rescue teams. We even lost very young kittens. Neptune was only weeks old and Pryce only a few months. Not that it matters which ones or how old, none of them deserved this cruel fate. Brighton Talulla Payden & Zuri… were all worth saving! We just didn’t find rescues open. It’s heartbreaking. We need to start finding homes for those in rescues now or it will only get worse. There’s whole families listed now that we have nowhere to place. It’s getting worse and worse, but will still try our best to help them.
