Unfortunately our little guy Courage passed away on the drive to the Vet just a little bit ago. He had been having seizures and struggling to breathe. I'm absolutely devastated. It all happened so fast. I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who had Courage in their hearts, and those who donated supplies to help with Courage. We will be donating everything we didn't get to use for our little boy to help others like him. My roommate and I are going to bury him in our backyard, he was part of our family and we are so sad to have it end like this. I'm so sorry Courage. I wish the world had been more kind. You'll always be in my heart, thank you for allowing me to be there for you until the end. Rest in peace buddy.

Mufasa passed this morning at Bloomsburg Veterinary Hospital, Inc. We knew he was fragile when he was released yesterday but we hoped to give him a chance. His foster did everything they could to get his body temperature stabilized, keep him hydrated and get him stable enough to really begin healing.

But the neglect he suffered before coming into our care was too much. We tried. We're so thankful for all the donations, kind words and good vibes sent his way. He might not have ever had a real family but he was so, SO loved.

Mufasa is the ninth cat to pass or be euthanized from this colony since we started. The level of neglect, sickness and disease in this colony is heartbreaking. We are still working to complete TNR on the truly ferals and find the friendlies safe placement. And for those suffering, we'll make sure they don't suffer alone. Thank you. We're sorry.

Anyway, we are all pretty shook up. Frustrated, angry. At least Mufasa got to feel love, touch, warmth. What he didn't get was a family, a long life, hope.

We truly appreciate the donations. I got a message this morning, filled with joy about all the support that came through from here and FB. His expenses are covered at this point, although we don't know what the exact final bill is going to be, anything left over will be used, in Mufasa's honor to get the rest of the cats out of that trailer park, fixed and close this damn loop of suffering.

I will include the links for our donations, as Mufasa's death won't even allow for a pause in the trapping efforts in the park, and they will keep breeding, they will keep multiplying and they will keep dying.

Today was a very bad day. Even though many were saved today the shelter still felt the need to make room for more intakes and clear out to R/O room. We were told they were safe and that there were open kennels yet this disaster happened. I understand this will raise many questions and much anger but there is no logical explanation I can offer so I will just post this and refrain from commenting on this disgrace. I’m happy to let everyone know that Gerald has been adopted! It’s been a very stressful and anxiety ridden week of worrying about his outcome but a lovely lady has adopted him, he went home with her yesterday morning! He had an hour long journey so he was a very tired little boy. I can’t thank everyone on reddit enough, Gerald has gained almost 10k supporters which Is just amazing to me and I never would’ve thought I’d of managed to make Gerald and his story this known ❤️ I’m beyond over the moon that Gerald will no longer know the cold and he’s in a warm home especially now It’s getting into the season of -1° here in the UK ❤️

Today, the vet decided to discharge her because she’s finished with her antibiotics. Her mouth wound has made excellent progress, and she can finally close comfortably. She can even groom herself now! 😻

Although she’s home, she still needs to be isolated for a week. After that, she’ll go back to the vet for a follow-up to reassess her mouth.

With great sadness I have to share the loss of these 2 sweet angels. Often shelter residents contract diseases & viruses, it is common. However the lack of good health standards and sterilization at these shelters is nothing short of gross. Now every cat rescued is at risk. It just never ends. Reform cannot happen soon enough! Rest well little ones. 🤍🕊️

There is no link today. There is no Shadow today. I hope anyone that takes the time to read this will understand and appreciate his value. To many people it would seem over dramatic or strange to feel so emotional over someone you never knew. Here in this community though, we do just that! We have to. We must look at the shared photographs and read the (sometimes long) posts of even people we don’t know, don’t even have REAL names for either. Isn’t that odd? However, through the anonymity we STILL bond and unite through our love for cats (animals). That is amazing! As I lay awake last night listening to the rain, I thought of this sweet boy Shadow and imagined his long 9 years. Five of them likely spent in peace with his young owner, who sadly passed away at only 20 in 2020. So, she got him as a teen at 15 most likely. A sweet image. I’m sure he was cherished, at least, according to the family. Then tragedy struck and his life was shattered. Not only does he lose his family but also his home. Life on the street was obviously not kind and he (unvaccinated) developed diseases and suffered everything a stray suffers. He managed to survive without care for four long years though. No one took him in or helped him. No one truly cared until it was just too late. We will never know the daily life of a cat like Shadow but we can always imagine its trials & certainly sadness. No animal deserves this cruel fate. There are millions of Shadows out there suffering right now. I know we all know this, I’m not discovering this, but developing a new and inflamed passion to help even more. I hope Shadow & the likes will inspire everyone that saw him. Even if it was only one short day. Shadow was seen by 777 ( or more) Reddit members and shared over 100 times just here. That’s a good legacy. So let us remember this sweet boy and honor him by sharing and supporting rescue every day. Take in a stray, foster, bottle feed or fundraise for a local rescue. Volunteer at your local shelter, TNR, help transport kittens and cats to appointments or fosters or adoptions. Get involved and take action against this worldwide crisis. We can and will do so much better. We may not save them all, but we can save more. Thank you everyone that shared and commented and opened their hearts to him and others. Let’s make 2024 a good year for RESCUE! 🙏🏻❤️

Max is doing a lot better! He’s now able to stand and is moving around his cage, tho he’s still unable to eat on his own, he’s now showing interest on food.

We’re able to settle ₱8,000 ($141) and we still have around $80 (including donations from supporters from FB) that we’ll use to order recovery food for him and canned food for other rescues (prescription food is not included in confinement hence we need to order online, price is higher if we purchase it in the clinic). I’ll update this thread tomorrow with the receipt for the recovery food we’ll purchase.

We hope that he becomes stable in the next few days so that we can discharge him and continue his treatment at home.

This poor girl was left behind by her owners at an apartment building with no access to food water or even shelter. A neighbor found her in the yard and took her to SBCAS. The poor girl was assessed to be over 10 years old. Someone adopted her then returned her saying she had fleas! She was then on the brink of death. We had to find a rescue to help her. Thank you everyone who helped us save her. She deserves a good home and to grow old. Peace out SBCAS! 🙏🏻🩷💐🗝️

Gregory has seen much in his life. He’s been on the streets attacked and hurt probably hungry and scared. He landed in Devore shelter to find himself about to be euthanized without a miracle! So, Our team rallied to help him! A member fell in love with him and the rest is history. We actually used Rescue Cats as our own rescue! We saved him put him in boarding all last week then along with 12 others we sent him on a homeward journey! After a 2 day drive he has reached his new home! Congratulations Gregory! Hey everyone this is actually my last resort. I never thought I’d come to Reddit for help like this. I live in a complex in se Houston and the cat population here was pretty bad. I’ve the last few years I’ve caught fostered and rehomed about 20 or so kittens and cats. I do this on my own mostly

. I recently found a kitten who had no litter mater and his mom had been ran over. He has ring worm so that’s an automatic death sentence in the shelter. Most rescues are full and out of funding.

Normally I’d just keep him until I could find him a home. But we got notice there going to be doing construction in side my building and we will have to move out. I’m moving in with family and cannot bring this boy with me.

I have tried everything I can think of. Please meet Charles Xavier. About 2 months make tabby. Looking for a rescue or an adoption. Ring worm is still there but is so much better. He’s food motivated and a lover boy.

Someone please help.

I'm crying as I post this. She got sq fluids yesterday about 10 hrs ago and she's not dehydrated yet, but she can't eat.

She vomits everything she eats and she only peed once yesterday.

I have zofran for myself, so I've been giving her 1mg every 8-15 hrs and it does stop the vomiting, but she's stopped eating.

The last thing she ate was yesterday and she vomited it up because I had waited to give her another zofran dose, to see if her stomach had settled.

She hasn't held down food in a couple of days, except for 1 churro. Now, she's refusing churos.

She didn't want to walk around last night because she was hurting. If I touched her (except her head) she was doing little angry mews, and she had the kitty pain grimace. 😭

It broke my heart, so, I gave her a cat dose of gabapentin and it helped.

This morning she got up and walked around! But she only walked to go sit in front of her food bowl and stare 😭

She refused a churo right now. I went ahead and gave her zofran because it was due a few hours ago and she might try to eat.

The cheapest vet ($19.95 visit for 1st visit) can't see her til Thursday. Every other vet charges $60 and up and they're all also booked til Thursday. Last night I called an emergency vet and they wanted $200 to walk in the door 😡

Before I became completely disabled (am applying for disability) and was still working, she went to Blue Cross Clinic once for a bladder infection, so I called them.

They would not print up an estimate for her until they see her, though they did say that they could print up the estimate for the visit alone, which is $65.

We don't have enough gas to go there twice, so I set the earliest appointment for her which is at 3pm today.

We're going to pull the money from our electricity bill fund. We can't afford x-rays or bloodwork because $65 is max and we can't even afford that, tbh.

But at least we'll get an estimate for what the vet thinks she needs and I can post it here.

Maybe, it's better she doesn't go to ACE? It's really cheap but the vet man-handles cats and she's in a lot of pain.

She's the sweetest girl. She was a feral for 5 years and she was constantly bullied by cats outside, but it took me 2 years to acclimate her to spending longer and longer times inside.

Mittens became an indoor cat 1-1/2 years ago. The first 6 months she chewed the fur off a spot on her belly from the stress. But now her fur is fine 💗

Mittens got me through the loss of my heart dog, yorkie Phoebe, 4 almost 5 years ago. She's so loved here.
