Needs Rehoming š¾ Stray cat
I took in a stray cat on December 16th due to my neighbor getting very angry because I was feeding the strays. I live in an apartment and didn't want trouble. I believe this kitty was previously domesticated and then abandoned due to how friendly he is. I think he's about 6 to 9 months old. It's a ginger kitty, uses the litter box, very playful, loving, no spraying, good behavior. I can not take care of this cat due to fixed income, medical issues, and over 70 y/o. It's getting harder everyday because he needs more attention than I can physically give. It's also costing me so much to feed him and provide him with just the basic items cats need. I can not afford to take him to the vet. I have called several cat rescue agencies, but they aren't taking cats in or they refer me to the animal shelter. I did leave a message with Kirkland's and will hopefully hear from them. Is there anyone out there interested in taking this sweet loving kitty into your home, or a rescue who would find it a good home? I think it's a male because I read that most gingers are male. Thank you so much. I live in Fresno, Ca.

Please understand that I've never been there, but I read some poor reviews. I'm not feeling good about that organization. Thank you though for your suggestion.

I don't live near there, I'm much further south. Go with your feelings. But thank you for taking this cat in until you can find some help.

A while back I looked into Cat House on the Kings, and I believe they charge a āsurrender feeā for each cat brought into their rescue, and it costs around $300-400 per cat.

would that surrender fee apply to a rescue? check with them about that, there might no fee since it really is not your cat. also check with rescue cat mods or the main group post, i often see resources listed or pinned to the top to help find rescue groups.

Boosting for you to get the help needed for this poor kitty. Sounds abandoned to me. You might try calling a few vet clinics for who they suggest or any help they can give.šššššš thank you for taking this poor soul in for now.

Can you post a picture? That usually helps.

I don't know how to do that..are there instructions on this site?

When you hit reply to my comment, you'll see three icons in the bottom left-hand corner. The one on the far left, that looks like a mountain with a sun, is for pictures. Click on that icon, and it should automatically bring up your computer folders. Then you just have to find the picture(s) on your computer, double click on them, and that will attach them to your reply.
You can do the same thing by clicking "Add a Comment" on your own post, so that the pictures don't get lost in the thread.

Hey ā¤ļøyouāre doing your best for this kitty under tough circumstances.
Local Facebook Groups ā Try posting in community or pet-related groups in Fresno. You can search for local groups like āFresno Petsā or āFresno Lost and Found Petsā on Facebook. I personally find expat groups work very well when trying to rehome cats. Many families might be looking for a pet or lonely single people.
Try Fresno related groups on Reddit
Nextdoor App ā You can connect with neighbors who may be interested or have resources. Website: https://nextdoor.com
Fresno Humane Animal Services - https://www.fresnohumane.org maybe they can help!
Cat House on the Kings ā A cat rescue near Fresno. They might have advice or resources for rehoming. Website: http://www.cathouseonthekings.com/ Email: [info@cathouseonthekings.com](mailto:info@cathouseonthekings.com) For adoptions, spay/neuter appointments or tours, please call (559) 638-8696 (Option 1). For surrenders and rescues, please call (559) 638-8696 (Option 2).
In the meantime, keep trying Kirklandās and other rescues youāve contacted. Posting flyers at local pet stores or vet offices might also help. Youāve done a great thing helping this cat, and I hope you find a solution soon. Send me a direct message if you need more help! ā¤ļø

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I'm not on Facebook and can barely figure out how to use this channel. I have no one to help me with technology, but somehow I manage.

I use Facebook groups to find potential homes for the kittens Iāve rescued. Iāve been caring for a feral cat mom whoās had two litters. Her first litter had three kittens, and I found homes for all of them. Her second litter had five kittens, and I also managed to find homes for all of them.
I really believe that having family and friends post, and even posting yourself, can help find this kitty a home! Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Thank you so much. I did ask family..no one wanted a kitty. I'm reaching out to others as best I can..praying too.

If youād like, I can try joining a few Facebook groups and posting for you! I would just need some pictures and relevant informationāfeel free to message me directly. Only if youāre comfortable with that, of course!

I would like to hold off on that just a bit. I'm hoping to hear from Kirkland animal rescue. I'm just hesitant giving out my info. at this time. I mean no disrespect, I'm grateful for your help.

No worries, I meant more the cats info (age, pictures) for potential adopters. Best of luck!

Thank you. By the way..how does one direct mail if nothing happens soon?

u/Ok-Detective-8526 10m ago
I can send you a direct message (I think thatās what you mean) If you accept my invitation you can chat with who ever send you the DM.
You usually click on a profile and an option to start a chat comes up. I use Reddit from my phone so maybe the profile and invite to chat shows differently.

Sometimes there are local Buy Nothing groups who will contribute cat food either by posting it or by asking them. There are also groups on Reddit (I think one is just called assistance and the other is Random Acts of Pet Food. The former you need to participate a bit by liking or commenting there I think before getting approved to post for help. You can create an Amazon wishlist and ppl are usually very kind and will send to you.) I also think people in your community would contribute and there are also pet food pantries. Thank you for helping this cat and best of luck!!
