Update Post π€πͺ½Amane was taken today. Rescue came too late. Iβm so sorry and sad to share this. Time was not on your side. No key today only tears. Fly away from this world little one. You mattered! π€ποΈ
Devore has taken in too many to rescue in time sadly. All the hard work and dedication cannot save them all. Thereβs just too many coming in. This baby was lost today. We say goodbye and hope to do better tomorrow. Iβm sorry Amane, Iβm so sorry. πππ»ππ»ππ»
Walk away Amane dear and donβt look back Follow the paw prints on the Rainbow track Head held high and tail up straight For heavenβs reward youβre not too late Life was cruel and did you wrong So listen now to your angels song It calls to you as you fly away Just know you were loved on your very last day πMonkittyruccia22

Devore should be renamed βDevourβ (aka we devour cats under the garb of rescue as we donβt have a plan and just kill as we please). Why are humans so pathetic to decide how long a sentient being can live? What kind of a cruel sport is this? Beautiful Amane could totally be someoneβs lap cat. I am so disgusted and angry reading this news π€¬

Yes, thatβs what we call it actually. Itβs extremely tragic and sickening to kill a beautiful cat like this. I canβt even fathom how anyone could possibly do it. Iβm just sick. Poor baby. Itβs not right to trap them jail then terrify them then kill them like rats. Itβs just disgusting. π

Sad. That sounds like a frustrating situation. It's tough to be the one delivering bad news.
Moving on, have you considered connecting with any animal rights activists beyond the petition? I'm a policy advocate who writes memos, and I'd be happy to help.
By the way, do you know which state this rescue is located in? If you'd like, I could draft a policy memo outlining the issue and send it to your state senator.
Let me know if you're interested, and feel free to direct message me if you'd like to discuss further.

This is devastating and so unfair. Every single one of the lives matter π

u/Monkittyruccia22 May 18 '24
Yes. It is.. I canβt wrap my head around their philosophy about sentient beings and their right to life. Itβs such a disgrace to murder them. π

We have tons of shelters like this in NC, it never ends and it's not fair to them at all. I wish we could save every single one.

u/Monkittyruccia22 May 18 '24
Oh, me too. Iβve cried an ocean of tears over cats and dogs I couldnβt save.

Reddit (especially us cat lovers) is a wonderful community. This platform is a beacon of helpful hands.
I am currently fostering 2 (bonded) boys because someone in my state needed them to be cared for for a few months. Since this person lived about an hour and a half away, someone jumped in and offered to pick up the cats and transport them to me! All because of r/cats
This is terrible to see - beautiful, loving, innocent cats just disposed of - and we see it constantly.
Does r/rescuecats have any sister groups that specifically focus on each state? I see so many people in desperate need of fosters, and the sorting of groups by state would be so helpful. Iβm in Long Island NY, and would love to continue to help as much as I can.
My dream is to eventually have some kind of prefab tiny home put on my land upstate (about 300 acres in Delaware County) where Iβd have more room to foster up to 10 cats at a time. People shouldnβt have to worry about scrambling to find a safe place for their babies when theyβre going through a tough time. π₯

We are actually trying to do this but response has been slow. Although RC has almost 19k members not sure how many actively participate in rescue. You are welcome to post for rescue partners and help in your community though. We actually do work behind the scenes on projects like this to help people with cat crisis. We have been successful with group chats and networking the areas too. So if youβd like any advice I can help βΊοΈ

Perhaps we could start by selecting the top 5(?) states in which we have the most volunteers both for transportation & fostering, and create those 5 groups for those states? For instance: r / rescuecatsNY , and so on.
Idk, Iβm just brainstorming right now & I apologize if this is too much of a stretch, Iβm just really motivated, haha π»
