Speculation What a revolver can say about a character Spoiler

2.6k Upvotes

I've noticed a detail on my third or fourth playthrought and wanted to share. If you pay atention, the type of revolver a character uses, is relative to said character's honor. The cattleman revolver is used by the good characters, like Hosea, John, Lenny, Sadie and Sean. The double action revolver is used by the bad characters, like Micah, Cleet and Javier (Joe doesn't use a revolver). And the Schofield is used by those who aren't necessarely good or bad, like Dutch, uncle and Bill, who were neither angels not demons for most of the game.

Along with that, some details also enhance this theory:

1- In Guarma, Dutch uses a double action revolver, simbolizing his definitive change to the bad side.

2- Arthur gives Micah a cattleman revolver when he rescued him from strawberry, but Micah goes after his double action revolvers, showing that he had a chance to be good, but went after his own damnation.

Speculation Something o noticed about Dutch's revolver

So, while I was playing through the game for the 6th time I had a thought, does Dutch's revolver represent his character arc throughout the game? While it's in his holster all you see is the pearly white grip and silver frame, representing how Dutch presents himself to the gang and his more robin hood like persona that he has in the earlier chapters, but once he takes the revolver out of the holster the barrel is dark and black, representing how he hides his inner darkness behind a bright persona.

Anyways this is probably just a dumb theory on my part but oh well speculation doesn't hurt.

Speculation Saw a guy on horseback on the edge of cliff, far off in the distance. When I zoomed in on him with binoculars, he waved at me. When I lowered them, he was gone.

Speculation Did u realise rdr teaches how Mandela effects works?

Ppl ask that if Mandela effects are people misremembering the way a thing actually is, why is everyone misremembering in the same way? As in "Berstein" & Monopoly guy with a monocle?

One of the biggest Mandela effects in gaming is when Jack Marston confronts Edgar Ross at the end of Rdr1. The majority of the players remember that Ross was fishing when it happened. In reality, he was duck-hunting.

But the reason many ppl remember him fishing is because of the lake dynamic in both rdr 1 & 2, in 2 when Milton & Ross introduced themselves, they were shown in front of a lake. & Arthur was fishing then.

When the final scene in rdr1 happened between Jack & Ross, they were both shown in the same angle of shots and in the same POV as the Arthur fishing mission.

We can understand from this that the way we misremember something in the same way because the memory doesn't change in its own way in our individual minds, but something alters it the same way, be it just common sense, societal norm, or smth similar depicted in the same way.

Just a thought off my mind.

Speculation If rdr3 is another prequel then we will have an entirely new map.

The way I see it is that if rdr3 turns out to be about the early days of the gang then it’ll probably have many entirely new areas. So no beloved valentine, strawberry, Saint Denis. We’ll still probably have blackwater, armadillo and tumbleweed. Cause during chapter 1 we see the gang run from blackwater all the way to colter. Then later on they move to horseshoe overlook. In many dialogues with npcs like the war veteran, and micky Arthur tells them he’s “not from this area” clearly implying he never really went to these areas. We even see them going to Saint Denis for the first time. They don’t really know the area at all. Only getting information from strangers they meet to make money. Where do you think the new map will take place? Cause we know right below tumbleweed there’s a river and on the other side is Mexico. Next to van horn is the prison. We never really see to the left of strawberry. Like any towns on that side. So you guys think the map will have new Austin to the right?

Edit- to all those who say they they don’t want rdr3 to be about the gang. Jokes on you it’s never coming(a joke)

Theory- what if the next game is about o Driscoll’s or the lemoyne raiders? Maybe what happened to Sadie.

Edit-2: after careful evaluation and lots of thought. I have concluded that as long as Arthur, Sadie, John, and Lenny make an appearance I will trust whatever else rockstar may have planned for the fourth instalment of the red dead franchise(yes I included red dead revolver). Plus they could make blackwater heist/massacre a dlc(please rockstar 🙏)

Theory 2- what if instead of 1 main character the game follows the entire gang and how they redeemed themselves in some way by joining the gang and the stories that led to it. So basically we can play as any gang members. It would be like a gta v situation where you can switch between characters as often as you want with slight exceptions for maybe someone like molly or Pearson where they either have very specific jobs or not a lot of content. And since it might be rockstars biggest project after gta 6 it might have a huge map with areas only certain characters can access.
