For the first time the beast in the streets of Tokyo is not a manga or anime/film

bold with fake plates too

I think the original photographer or someone edited the plate number to respect the owner’s privacy. It still has the Setagaya-ku on top of the plate showing where it’s registered.

yeah I can see where it's registered, I guess I just thought it looked too natural to have been edited/didn't consider someone edited for privacy, makes sense!

Was this the specific 037 chassis that once ran in JGTC in the 90s?

Probably, likely the only one in Japan

This had to be the very awkward 037 that raced in JGTC but was unsuccessful

It was bone stock with a tarmac setup still applied, it only hit like 150 on the straights at Fuji and then the engine blew up like 40 laps in

I wonder what wouldve happened if the car owner used a Beta Montecarlo Turbo Group 5 instead..

Would've been just as slow, the only cars with a chance of winning were the Factory Nissan's and the 962.

The Group 5 BMC wouldve been much faster than the 037 due to higher downforce bodywork, low ride height, and larger wheels.
But the BMC G5, would be dashed by the 1993 JGTC grid.
If the BMC G5 competed in the 80s Japanese Super Silhouette series, it wouldve been fair.
