I’m sorry, did you expect the cops to help your family? Do people still believe that fairytale?

This is the only fucking profession where they can say OUT LOUD, that they want to help!! But then take ur life in the next moment and get away w it!!! What i seen in this video was 2 pussies that should have never been allowed to be in this situation. Theres not 1 single reason why a taser, which he said he would use, couldn't of been used. And then to top this all off, it happened in front of numerous family members. These guys deserve the absolute worst!!! ACABS!

the officer listed a number of different ways they could have detained her..but didn't try any of them...this is crazy

Why did the family need to call the police, they could have shot the girl themselves.

Well see, you get in trouble for self help. You need the police to kill your family for you.

They are just paid murderers looking for a moment of plausible deniability

These cops were Idiots. they just had to get their girl. What was the hurry, first choice to respond with lethal force Idiot. How many idiots are working police jobs. Insanity is putting guns in the hands of idiots paying them to protect and serve and getting the same results idiots shooting and killing people. Then the idiot that hired them doesn’t recognize egregious behavior by the idiot and puts the gun back in his hand to repeat repeat repeat

Did anyone else notice that she wasn't even holding the knife by the handle?

u/Yankee-Whiskey Oct 03 '24
She seems to have intended to make it clear to them where the knife was and that she was dropping it. To make that process visible to them.

How the hell can't two police officers handle a 16-year old without using lethal force??

If you were the police officer in this instance, what would’ve you done differently? I’m curious how people would go about this call as it appears to be controversial.
My own opinion? The cops would be justified under law based of the video yet could’ve provided more distance to begin with to prevent the 6 foot gap to violated by the 16 year old with a knife. Additionally, having a taser (or beanbag/40mm etc.) get deployed the moment started walking towards police while leaving lethal options at the ready could’ve led to a more ideal outcome.

Weird - it happens all the time in other countries without the armed suspect being shot hundreds of times. US cops are trained incorrectly and cowards.

Yea well unfortunately police in the United States don’t wish to do melee fights with people armed with lethal weapons like knives, machetes, or even hammers.
Officers wouldn’t stay in a department if they were forced to engage in melee combat with armed suspects before using lethal force, simply not viable.
That second link you gave as an example, that man showed no will to actually use the weapon on police, you can’t assume that will be the same for the rest.
I do however support the push to deploy less lethal options sooner instead of allowing the situation to resort to lethal force being the only good option left to protect the officers life.

I don't even know if cops still carry extendable batons, but using one of those with any confidence or authority would have disarmed this young lady safely. Assuming they don't carry any less than lethal melee options, pepper spray would have disabled her quite effectively, a taser likely could have worked, or yeah a beanbag shotgun also would have been enough more than likely to get her to drop the knife. Literally trying anything else before just a hail of bullets would have been a better option.

Tazer and back up. If that doesn't work, close the door to the room and approach from outside.

u/GIVEMEUSERNAMEAAAAA Oct 02 '24
After removing the family members close the door I assume.
This does indeed help the process of negotiation and sounds like a good plan. However the next worry is self harm so I’m unsure if barricading them in alone would be more ideal than extra separation.

Y’all are fools anybody walking towards me with a dang knife is going to look down the barrel of my gun, not going risk my life for someone who wants to harm me.
2
u/bighappy1970 Oct 02 '24
The appropriate reaction is to take your time and deescalate - wear the person down, be patient. Totally stupid to do whatever you think would “risk your life” - and totally stupid for this girl to die. Americans have no heart or brains

Where you from then? And you don’t really have time to descalate when she’s 8 feet away with a knife walking towards you in an enclosed apartment where you can’t really back up, she was shot for a reason- she was a threat to the safety of others, this is her fault she was shot and only hers. Americans might not be empathetic, but we are also realists, my safety trumps compassion for someone who wants to hurt me.

Tell yourself whatever you need to justify murder.
How is it that police all over world manage to arrest people with knives without killing them? Unbelievable amount of stupidity in America.
And I’m American- and lived in multiple countries including China, a communist country, and have witnessed firsthand better ways to police than the pigs in America- maybe spend a year pretty much anywhere else in the world and you will not see people murdered by police like they are in America- it’s all because of people like you that blindly believe the propaganda- it’s disgusting and sickening

Bro your an actual idiot if your going to use china as an example of a better more peaceful government when there committing literal genocide on the Muslim Uyghur population in western china. And also I feel like your some white middle class person who’s never had to deal with poverty or struggle or what it’s like to be in these situations where your life has actually been in danger, heck if your rich enough to travel the world your just a rich blind fool to the struggles of me and people like me, but I have been in these situations and I’ll tell you what if it’s between my life and someone else’s I’m never going to let empathy cloud the judgement of my safety or my loved ones safety, I’ve had to draw and I would do it again because I’m not going to put the life of a violent stranger over my one and I wouldn’t expect a cop to do that either, they got a family they want to go home to also. you can’t reason with crazy you can only do what you can to ensure your survival in this life.

You have never lived in China, so you have no idea what you are talking about, you only know what you hear about on the news. All societies have truely aweful aspects - in the USA its Guns, Police, the Legal System, and the utter failure of the eduction system (you are a great example of that failure).
In many ways, China is more free than the USA. You might know that if you ever left the country.
Again, you have no idea what you are talking about. I grew up in abject poverty in a central wisconsin town of 600 people - and I lived in the trailer park, got free lunch, food stamps, and so on.
My immediate and exteneded family members are or were police, and you don't know what the Police are really like. I have witnessed first hand uterly inhumain treatment of innocent people, including myself, at the hands of the police. I've watched a cop try to kill his own son (by strangulation) for coming home drunk. I wanted a cop hit his teenage daughter in the head with a framing hammer and then chain her up in the basement for DAYS with just enough chain to use the bathroom - no food - only water from the bathroom sink. So, F*ck you, you don't know shit.
Yes, I am now I have enough money to travel the world (I would not say rich), full-time, and have been for four years now. I use my brain, a LOT, to solve extremely hard problems for huge multi-national companies - and I grew up being told I was an idot every day and getting tortured by my Dad, a cop, and watching him torture my Mom, etc. I know far more about struggling and protecting family members than you ever will.
Your logic fails in thinking that empathy and safety are mutually exclusive. They are not. You are also foolish if you think the police are here to serve and protect the public, they are not. Its all about command, control, and demanding deference.
You should really take a logic class.
The cops put themselves in a supposedly "dangerous position" then claimed self defense - total BS - they should not have entered a room with no way to retreat - stay outside, keep everyone safe - but you don't value life or logic so I'm just in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Guys don't EVER call the fucking cops to help your loved one with a mental health crisis, uness you would prefer them dead. This happens a lot more than is even reported. You only hear because this was a 16 year old child. If you are in a mental health crisis there are resources available to help in most jurisdictions around the country. The cops are not your friends, your counselors, your advisors, or anything other than some prick that will railroad, kill you, a loved one or a pet, or just outright ruin your day. I have met 1 cop in my lifetime that wasn't an egocentric, cold, negative person. They may start out good, but the job makes them dark husks. Just avoid them in any and every way both personal and professional if you know what's good for you. Good luck. I apologize if my own experiences have offended anyone else, but these are my own opinion based on my own interactions and observances.
