Honestly, though, living with parents should definitely be less stigmatized. In Asian cultures, it's normal, especially if you're unmarried, child-free, or planning to take care of your own parents, or take over their business if they have one. (you're not living for free or "freeloading" - in many cases, you're also expected to be the one paying the bills & doing the chores, while taking care of your parents).

Also a good way to save money. At least if you do get along with your parents...

Moving out after 30 is more or less normalized by now but buying a fucking 5090 while earning minimum wage (I assume)? That is fucking stupid.

In Asian cultures, it’s normal

That’s nice?

What’s not nice about it. Parents are family, as close as they come.

I see I was misinterpreted, what I’m saying is that most of the people here are Westerners, applying Western thinking. Simply pointing out Eastern/Asian culture is different is a meaningless distinction. Most of the users here aren’t Asian, so who cares, that’s not the lens it’s being view through. It’s being viewed through a very individualistic Western perspective.

People know it’s not the lens being viewed through, hence they say in Asiait’s normal instead of simply saying “it’s normal.” Pointing out the distinction is just sharing information/culture.

They’re prescribing that because it’s normal in Asian cultures that we ought to be more accepting of it. They’re not “simply sharing information”.

It’s stupid that people like you will rewrite the original argument in real time when I can literally read their comment.

I didn't rewrite it. You're just weirdly angry that I interpreted it differently.

But If you interpreted it as a statement that we ought to be more accepting of it, it was pointless for you to say it's not the lens we see through. Maybe try using the same lens?

My point exactly. If there's one thing I learned living in both an eastern and western country, it's that we're not vastly different from one another in that we all are trying to survive. There is no "individualistic" brain and a "collectivistic" brain

I just don’t get why if I said in a comment full of Americans that it’s normal in some countries to eat shit, that it’s making a point at all?

I’m not angry, but ok. Enjoy Boxing Day. Probably a waste of time to argue with strangers online, which I’m being guilty of.

I’m not misinterpreting anything, they said that we should be more accepting of it. You saying that it’s a simple factoid is not true though.

Anyway, have a nice day.
