Having lived and traveled around Michigan my whole life, it's so fascinating imagining what all of these places were like to behold before being urbanized. The dense, untamed forests before the bears, wolves and cougars were driven away.

Also interesting to note that so many of the rivers and even the tiny islands in the lakes were recorded with decent accuracy, yet the shape of the lower peninsula is far from being correct for some reason.

Chicago was founded and settled in 1780. It was incorporated as a town in 1833 though.
