How many times am I going get recommended with those fucking misogynistic portrait vids on social media?
Tofay I was on snapchat watching stories posted by my accquaintances, and then I got stumbled across by those portrait staged street vids, done by content creators who are not knowm by the general public, nor on other social medias. One particular is called Sam Jalal. His videos are literally so staged, but radical. He was literally harassing so many other women and manipulating them for fun (even staged it is not ethical), furthermore, literally staging all the young gen Z white women as being bullies and selfish assholes and all the old men as being the helpful ones.
The comments are even worse; they are so stupid and not realising that its fucking staged. Not to mention the badly monolithic takes.
This leads me to think that it is just another radicalising content creator.
How many more will I get? YouTube shorts recommends me this shit despite I never touched this genre, and Snapchat discovery, again discussing what what gen z tiktok white woman had done and making it seem like it is the general character, even though these types of people are not known by the public. Like this is not why I used snapchat. I only used it to retain contact with people I like, including ones from high school who I will never see again. And these types of genres not only bombard my feeds, but also give me social anxiety. Only if there is an option to disable discovery. On snapchat discovery I mainly look at crime, and text stories, not this brainrotting wasteland.

It'll be easier to get off snapchat when you're out of school, probably. I think I stopped using it entirely at some point in college because I realized I just complained about it a lot. Now I'm too busy to think about it. A job and the gym will do that.
I temporarily redownloaded it to get some old saved photos off of it recently, but man. Now it really looks like the equivalent of a 2000s, trashy, tabloid magazine. I'm happy I don't use it anymore.
If you can't get off social media, just delete the one or two that bother you the most and stick to a better platform. Also: train your algo. Don't let it train you.

Honestly, social media algorithms are like that one friend who only hears what they want to. If you keep interacting with stuff (even out of frustration) it’s like telling the algorithm, "Yeah, give me more of this garbage!" So, try not to click, comment, or even pause too long on the stuff you hate. Instead, flood your feed with content you actually enjoy. Try to also click "not interested" when able, this is applicable to things like youtube. Youtube has a "Not interested" option in the same menu as the "watch later." Clicking that will help keep garbage off your feed.
I think with Snapchat, you should be able to curate it so that you don't see certain stories or certain tags? It's been forever since I've used it though so I'm not much help there.
If it's wearing you down too much though, I would recommend finding something a little less mentally draining to focus your mind on rather than snapchat, if you're unable to put the phone down. Stepping away from the noise one little step at a time has really helped me personally.

"Today I was on snapchat"
And that's where you erred.

For a community that's supposedly open to helping people separate themselves from Social Media, y'all are awful judgy and rude

I mean, Reddit is anti-snapchat. They mainly prefer Reddit and no other socials.

Seriously, you are using a product that was designed to be as addictive as possible.
Complaining "if only" makes no sense here. You might as well complain about how great meth would be if only it weren't addictive.
The first time you use it, it's a fairy tale. Then it turns into a desert.
Don't shoot the messenger.

Which is why I gave the tip to use something a little less mentally draining if they're having a problem separating from the phone itself and not snapchat.
If a heroin addict came to you (let's say you volunteer in a homeless shelter or something. It's the same concept as offering help separating yourself from the screen, an addiction, in this subreddit.) asking for help, would you kick them in the face and say, "Sorry, buddy, guess you shouldn't have smoked heroin!" Or would you stop, give them some water or whatever help they're needing?
