Hate those torches that randomly turn off as you're about to see something.

He really saw two hands pop out and decided now was a good time to toggle his flashlight

u/TipsyPhippsy 1d ago

Surely it's be better to keep the torch on, as whatever is in the tree would have an advantage in the dark.

Yea. His friend Wilbert.

"never seen anything like it in my life"... Cause you keep turning the flashlight off. Keep it on and maybe you'll see it.

"I haven't been able to figure it out"... Keep your flashlight on, and maybe you'll be able to figure it out

This guy really doesn’t respond to danger right either.

Tree gets violently ripped apart

“Dang nabbit, what in the blue blazes is that?”

13

u/Grumbilious 2d ago

I firmly believe that guy says the word “tarnation” unironically.

10

u/problyurdad_ 1d ago

I miss the old “wot in tarnation,” Reddit days.

The flashlight in the tree reminded me of one of those Aliexpress photos when they are showing you how bright their $5 flashlight is......

u/Darth_Azazoth 2d ago

Both the way this guy controls his camera and the way he controls his flashlight pisses me off.

I stand in solidarity with this commenter.

I thrice am here in solidarity.

u/KinopioToad 23h ago

I, too, choose this guy's wife comment.

Coincidence he turns his flashlight off right before something happens...

39

u/SatanofDeath 2d ago

Agreed, why turn it off at all? The thing keeps moving and throwing shit with it on

u/MeasurementMobile747 1d ago

Some flashlights have a super-bright setting that overheats the flashlight if left on. Maybe there is a safety shutoff when it gets too hot. It is a pretty bright light. That might explain why it goes off.

This is believed to have happened in South Carolina two years ago. There were like 40 macaque monkeys that escaped an enclosure. Most were recovered but a few were still loose. The r/aliens sub thought this instance were these macaques. They aren't very big but strong for their size like all monkeys, and would be very capable of snapping branches to scare off threats.

You can see one at around 2:24. The limbs being broke are not as big as he stated. I think he was scared. The monkeys were just pissed off and throwing down branches as a defense measure.

I saw the same thing when visiting Panama with Howler monkeys. They don't like people or animals up in their shit. LOL

On another post, (I think r/weird or r/paranormal) OP said this was from 2 years ago. But is indeed SC

u/Scottish_penguin16 2d ago edited 2d ago

It also might have been r/highstrangeness or r/aliens. Here’s the potential og YouTube link og(?) video link

Edited to add link

u/Dear-Smile 1d ago

I, too, was thinking this might have been the monkeys that escaped, but I didn't know when and where this was filmed.

1

u/Lunafairywolf666 2d ago

Knew it was a monkey lol

u/SaveusJebus 2d ago

"Look!" proceeds to keep turning the fucking light off.

8

u/sevensisters85 1d ago

It felt to me like he’s turning the light off cos stuff was most likely to happen when it was dark. If that makes sense? Animals will freeze and stop doing what they’re doing if they’ve got a big light shining on them.

3

u/SaveusJebus 1d ago

Sure, that would make sense if the activity didn't keep going when the light was on though.

3

u/sevensisters85 1d ago

Yeah, I get what you’re saying and it’s annoying he keeps turning it off for sure.

18

u/Warhammerpainter83 2d ago

LMFAO first lots of animals do this second he turns off the light or looks away every time anything would happen. This is dumb.

7

u/weigojmi 1d ago

Third, please deploy punctuation at regular intervals.

16

u/phunkphreaker 2d ago

Saw this debunked elsewhere. There's a dead tree leaning on the live tree. In the background you can see it in various levels of falling and knocking branches over

5

u/pongmagic 2d ago

You can even see a huge ass dead tree leaning against the one he's filming, and all the dead limbs resting on the living tree

5

u/NotADirtyRat 1d ago

I think it was debunked in the past post in Unexpected subreddit. There was a link posted for YouTube. The video was better quality and it showed a dead tree falling through the others. That's why branches were breaking.

5

u/RedwaterCam 2d ago

Weird how all that saw dust is coming off the trees…

4

u/Commercial_Pitch_786 1d ago

It could be his mother in law

3

u/DankestOfEmAll 2d ago

Lmao 99% chance its a bear

5

u/Entheotheosis10 2d ago

Just, wtf is happening here?

5

u/SoberingAstro 2d ago

"Its something stronger than a bear", no it's a fucking bear you idiot, get inside and clean it up tomorrow!

3

u/SoberingAstro 2d ago

Ps, bear falls with tree limb at 2:20, and gets up and runs off at 2:33. Homie still looking up cuz he's a dipshit.

2

u/chchchch71102 2d ago

Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, MAN.

This wards off spells, right here. This is a special leprechaun flute, which has been passed down from thousands of years from my great, great grandfather who was an Irish.

I just came to help out.

2

u/Big_Tap_1561 1d ago

Well keep the light on and actually look 👀

3

u/Daedalus704 1d ago

People freaking themselves out because of the wind and gravity in 2024 is wild.

3

u/Professional-Lie-329 2d ago

"It could be a crackhead"

3

u/Schmenge_time 2d ago

Which is why eye witness testimony is often questionable

1

u/Zestyclose-Sun-6595 2d ago

What the heck.

1

u/IceTitan420 2d ago

Orang-utans

1

u/water_farts_ 2d ago

It's that damn Skunk Ape!

1

u/Lunafairywolf666 2d ago

An escaped chimp or something?

1

u/Mobile-Offer5039 1d ago

keep the light on lol.

1

u/pira3_1000 1d ago

What in heaven's name is that

1

u/StiffGizzy 1d ago

That sub is a bunch of adults playing make believe spooky story time

1

u/Big_Tap_1561 1d ago

Is This an ad for flashlights? Lol

2

u/Nervous_Dare3617 1d ago

Why does this keep getting posted? Can't actually see anything.

1

u/Mr_E_Monkey 1d ago

I guess it fits here if the question is whether you can see anything interesting or frightening in the video

2

u/boukalele 20h ago

The most interesting thing and the most frightening thing is how idiotic the cameraman is

1

u/Mr_E_Monkey 16h ago

Exactly. Is the video interesting or frightening? Nope!

1

u/djkkubb 1d ago

That squirrel was mad

1

u/NickPivot 1d ago

This is why I try to remember to read the comments first. Saved me from actually looking at what the rest of you are complaining about :)

1

u/Fun-Fun-9967 1d ago

pesky tree sprites

1

u/TheDevil-YouKnow 1d ago

Well, it's a nope in the sense I can never agree to the notion I'd ever get drunk enough to go, 'HEY MERVE! Go get your hand saw & some gloves, climb up in that there tree!'

1

u/Cold-Literature-4940 1d ago

This is a pretty clever trick. Well done sir!

1

u/IGOTPOPROX 1d ago

It’s the inbred hillbillies from “Wrong Turn”.

1

u/ivololtion 1d ago

So are crawlers the creatures in the trees, or the ones that actually believe this shit?

1

u/chestyfatballs 1d ago

I’ll give the guy credit for turning land slippage into a filming opportunity. I wouldn’t have thought of that until afterwards, when it was too late.

1

u/Abject_Prior_219 18h ago

The way this entire debacle unfolded between the potato focus and constantly turning off the light was maddening.

1

u/ObsidianNight102399 2d ago

WTF is that??

9

u/Royal-Doctor-278 2d ago

Bears are excellent climbers and heavy enough to break branches that size. So are mountain lions. Depending where he lives my guess is black bear.

1

u/Dark_Pr1nz 2d ago

Best video I've seen in a long time.
