Is it only me or does this look like the Cologne cathedral.

u/Fun_Tell_7441 4d ago
Nah, this does look like the Dom.

u/B_D_Hadel 4d ago
Nope Dom is square on top, this is more like Cologne.

u/Fun_Tell_7441 4d ago
Ok, I worded that a bit shitty. The Cologne cathedral is known as "Der Dom" or "Kölner Dom" in German.

I came here for that. Just saw the real one a week ago at the overly busy Christmas Market.

That one looks different, way more towers. This is much more like Cologne Cathedral

That building is so massive and detailed dude accidentally walked into the pillar while trying to look around lol. 100 percent something that would happen in real life 😂

How did he have enough object count to build this?!
You can't use more than 16,000 parts game-wide

I gotta throw on the vr headset and go check this out

u/Maryachy 4d ago
Is this whole game playable in VR?!

u/Forced__Perspective 4d ago
Yes psvr2
Well that’s how I play it. Not sure if you can play it on pc with other vr headsets.

u/Baersouls 4d ago
I can confirm it's part of steam, so any headset that can connect to your computer works!

how hard is it to build something like this and is this something you just randomly find while traveling
25
u/businesslut 4d ago
Extremely, you need massive storage and spent a lot of time mining. The actual build probably a few hours, or ten. I had to stop playing because it was occupying so much of my time.

If you're in creative or using glitch-building the pieces are free, though it's just as easy to mine carbon and ferrite with your ship for wood and metal, and change the radius of your terrain manipulator to suck up silicon for stone really fast.
This build looks more like 100 hours than 10, unless they used some kind of Blender technique (did it in a 3D modelling tool and converted that into the base Json to paste into the save file). Even rendered though this is impressive.

You can also still duplicate with the portable miners so you can break this game and make it not fun quick. Which sucks because it is an awesome damn game. (Speaking from experience)

Do players in No Men's Sky play share persistence map? Can I visit structures like this built by other players in-game?
2
u/kvothe5688 2d ago
yes. everything is persistent. you can stumble up on game based built by other players randomly. also game has some features bases that you can teleport directly via teleporter.

This game will be something closer to the developer's original idea in a couple years.

It's already been there for a while. It was released about 3-4 years too early, but it's been great for a while now.

Got to be mods right? It’s been years since I played but I don’t recall anything capable of creating this aesthetic
2
u/Nemv4 4d ago
No it was done in blender

u/Big_Iron_Cowboy 4d ago
I’m lost what is that?

u/kixie42 3d ago
Blender is a 3d modeling application used in graphic design. I assume OP means the original plans/build was done in Blender and then built in NMS. Could be wrong though, not sure what Blender has to do with NMS otherwise (Unless they have allowed importing from a 3d model file like a .blend or .obj, but I doubt that?)
Edit: They do allow it: Youtube has instructions.

How? How? The roofs in that game are so trash so how? I'm flabbergasted.
Amazing, 10/10

u/Mickeymcirishman 3d ago
That's pretty cool. Now put it on top of a giant mechanized robot with massive 'fuck you cannons' for arms and send it into battle against the xenos menace.

I saw this posted earlier. It was built in some other program if I read it correctly.

u/WornInShoes 4d ago
Wow I dabble a little bit in NMS and this would take so much work
Incredible stuff

I haven’t visited the game for a while and I’ll need a refresher on how to use it, BUT I NEED COORDINATES!!!

I hope this renders in a more stable manner than on Valheim. My poor 3060 GPU crashes when I try it.

How strange it must be as the creator of this structure to welcome the world in to see.
This must've taken many many hours and been a monument to solitude for all that time until now.

I'm afraid that people unfamiliar with the game won't be able to admire this cathedral
