It's because factory ducati is sponsored by monster energy. That was one of the benefits they tried to offer him to go to pramac is that he could keep his red bull sponsorship

Yes however he will not wear any monster branding on his helmet or gear as he rejected the offer from monster. There obviously will be monster branding on the bike

u/bluzrok46 Valentino Rossi 7h ago
Pretty sure he confirmed it himself a week ago or sumthin during a red bull event. Just the official announcement came today, I guess

u/Xanthon MotoGP 16h ago
You were not expecting him to wear Red Bull while on the factory team, were you?

u/zmgch Brad Binder 6h ago
Dovi did. Jack Miller did.
It's not that absurd to suggest so.

u/foo_bar_qaz David Alonso 2h ago
Was Monster a sponsor of the factory team when Dovi & Jack were wearing Red Bull?
I tried searching for when Monster became a sponsor of the factory team and couldn't find an answer. But when I look at pics of those guys on those bikes I don't see any Monster logos on the bikes.

I’d love to see Red Bull go the Liquid Death route and start selling those “water in Red Bull cans” that they give all the athletes post event
2
u/akushaipatiru 8h ago
That'd be one hell of an expensive water can.
On a second thought, sparkling water tin can sounds nice.

u/EternalFront Aprilia Racing 8h ago
It works well for Liquid Death, I’m sure it can work well for Red Bull too
Nothing gives you wings like water, you’ll literally die without it

The budget from monster in motocross is going to motogp to pay this man. Monster dropped all personal sponsor deals in moto

u/PurplexRebel David Alonso 18h ago
Marc confirmed that he won't be taking a personal energy drink sponsor out of respect to redbull. No doubt to keep himself open to a return post, ducati.

u/Eastern-Cellist663 18h ago
Monster still has to pay more money. Personal deal or not.

u/PurplexRebel David Alonso 17h ago edited 17h ago
Sure, just not to pay marc.
Edit: ahh i see you have edited your original comment. How quaint.

u/Eastern-Cellist663 17h ago
Technically, Ducati still has to pay him more to not run anything Red Bull. That is where more monster money comes in. How is this such a concept for you motogp boys

I'm a woman, and that's between ducati and monster.
Sorry you have trouble explaining yourself properly in your initial comment and having to be so defensive when I point something out.

Marc refused a personal sponsorship deal with Monster (out of loyalty to Red Bull even if they’re parting ways now). Monster obviously sponsors Ducati, but Marc won’t have a personal energy drink sponsor the next two years.

Yea that’s more what I mean. The budget is all going to motogp. You think monster didn’t have to pony up some more funds to Ducati?
17
u/I_R0M_I Marc Márquez 17h ago
For what? If anything, they are saving money. Assuming Enea twas sponsored, and Marc isn't. That's 1 less rider they are paying.
Of course there may be pre agreed increases each year etc. But Marc being there isn't costing Monster.

u/CrazyCycler1209 Alonso Lopez 12h ago
Enea wasn't a Monster Rider either....He was also a Former Red Bull Athlete so I doubt he became a Monster rider either

u/Eastern-Cellist663 17h ago
That’s not how sponsorships of teams work.
10
u/I_R0M_I Marc Márquez 17h ago
So tell us how they work?
Marc has confirmed he is not being sponsored by Monster. He will only wear what Monster pay Ducati for their riders to wear. He will not wear extra gear for more money, like he did with Red Bull.
Monster sponsor Ducati. They do not sponsor Marc.

u/Eastern-Cellist663 17h ago
Ducati gets Marc to get out of his Red Bull deal. I understand he is not a personal monster athlete. Ducati pays there riders to wear what they want them to wear right? Where do you think the extra money to pay Marc NOT to run anything Red Bull is coming from?? This is literally exactly how team sponsorships work. Same way James Stewart forced monster to pay a TON of money to Kawasaki for him to wear the logo on his jersey. He wasn’t a monster athlete but monster still had to a pay A LOT more to kawi to keep the team real going.
11
u/I_R0M_I Marc Márquez 17h ago
So you're saying Ducati are paying Marc to drop Red Bull? But Monster aren't paying Marc (personally), but they are paying Ducati more.... To pay Marc?
Who says Marc's being paid to not wear Red Bull? More likely it's stipulated in his contract, that he can't wear rivals brands to Ducatis current sponsors. He knew when he signed, he wasn't going to be able to wear Red Bull, Samsung, Oakleys, etc.

I wish some country would initiate advertising ban on sugary drink above certain level like tobacco ads. This thing is proven bad for your health.

Sponsor clash. Ducati is sponsored by Monster. Iirc many of MM's other sponsors clash with Ducati too.
